The second to appear was Lucian. He had already sent out his Pokémon—a stunningly beautiful Ninetales. Its golden fur shimred in the light, its red eyes glead with intensity, and its nine tails slowly fanned out behind it like a peacock spreading its feathers.

Just by appearance alone, it could definitely charm a huge crowd.

Many celebrities loved keeping Ninetales as a companion, mainly because of its noble and elegant image.

In addition, the nine tails of a Ninetales were said to possess mysterious powers, and it could live for up to a thousand years—making it a very long-lived Pokémon.

This was a mid-Elite stage Ninetales and it was a male.

Male Ninetales were relatively uncommon, as the species tended to have a higher female population.

Julian didn’t withdraw tagross, nor did he plan to.

The five of them were officially recognized by Drakoria as top-tier prodigies. If they didn’t show overwhelming strength, how would they convince the public?

1v5 was the best way to show one's strength.

One Pokémon versus each of your strongest Pokémon. Let’s see what you have left to say after that.

“Ninetales, Sunny Day!” Lucian gave the command right away.

His Ninetales was only at the mid-stage of Elite and didn’t have the ability to ga Evolve, so to narrow the gap between them and tagross, he started by setting up a weather advantage.

A glowing orb of light was expelled from Ninetales’ mouth, and a small artificial sun ford in the sky.

Julian didn’t stop it.

Under Sunny Day, Fire-type moves would be empowered.

In truth, weather moves were the easiest to counter.

As long as your Pokémon was stronger than your opponent’s, once they activated a weather effect, you could simply use a weather move of your own to overwrite it—stealing back the field advantage.

Bathed in the sunlight, Ninetales’ golden fur shone brightly, as if wrapped in a shimring veil, giving it an extra sense of mystique.

“tagross, tal Claw.”

Julian launched the attack first. As soon as he spoke, tagross vanished from its spot.

“Agility!”

Ninetales began moving swiftly across the field, its movent graceful and flowing.

tagross’s tal Claw missed.

Watching Ninetales dash around the battlefield like a fly, tagross’s supercomputer brain went into action.

In an instant, it calculated Ninetales’ movent trajectory and predicted path.

“Ninetales, stop!” Lucian quickly shouted.

Just as tagross appeared at the exact spot where Ninetales was about to be, Ninetales abruptly stopped.

Julian glanced at Lucian in surprise. 'This guy actually noticed that tagross was calculating Ninetales’ movent pattern?' That level of command was impressive.

“Flathrower!”

Ninetales opened its mouth wide, and a stream of deep red flas burst out. With Sunny Day still active, the power behind the attack surged to a new height.

The air in front twisted under the intense heat.

tagross narrowed its eyes at the incoming flas. With a flash, a crescent-shaped Psychic Blade shot out, slicing through the air with a tearing sound.

The Flathrower was split in two down the middle.

With a pained cry, Ninetales was blasted backward by the Psycho Cut.

If not for the flas having partially weakened the impact, Ninetales might not have been able to stand back up.

“So strong…”

Lucian’s pupils shrank slightly. Now he understood why Murphy only lasted less than two minutes. You wouldn’t truly grasp how terrifying this tagross was until you actually faced it.

He looked at the tir—'Damn, it hasn’t even been a full minute.'

“Body Slam!”

tagross soared into the air, positioning itself directly above Ninetales. Then, it plumted downward with terrifying speed, all four claws pointed down. Given how sharp those claws were, if it landed directly—it could pierce clean through a body.

“Dodge!”

Lucian shouted.

Ninetales, having just barely gotten back on its feet, rolled hard to the side.

Boom!

The next second, tagross crashed into the spot where Ninetales had just been, creating a large crater. Shards of rock exploded outward like bullets, pelting Ninetales from all sides.

Due to its Light tal ability, tagross was far lighter than its usual kind. If it still had its original weight, this Body slam would’ve been more like an Earthquake.

“Ninetales, Iron Tail!”

Seeing tagross up close, Lucian spotted an opportunity.

The nine tails behind Ninetales rose high into the air.

Whoosh!

The first tail slamd down, then the second, the third, the fourth... -the ninth.

A lightning-fast nine-hit combo.

Nine consecutive Iron Tails struck tagross, and the huge force drove tagross straight into the ground.

Seeing this, Lucian clenched his fists tightly, as if he saw victory.

Even if the power behind each Iron Tail wasn’t increasing per hit, the total damage from nine full-force Iron Tails was no joke.

With that much power, it could easily wreck an entire building.

Ninetales was gasping for breath. Using Iron Tail like that had drained an enormous amount of its stamina.

Its eyes were fixed on the crater in front of it.

Crack... crack...

As so rubble crumbled and fell, tagross’s body slowly rose from the pit.

Under the light of Sunny Day, its silver body didn’t have a single scratch on it. Instead, it glead with a tallic luster.

tagross: "The massage wasn’t bad."

Ninetales: "This bas***d."

tagross: "Ti to go down."

The incoming teor Mash enlarged rapidly in Ninetales’ vision. After unleashing so many Iron Tails, it was still exhausted, its body sluggish—there was no way it could dodge.

As darkness filled its vision, it lost all sense of what happened next.

The tir on the screen stopped at 1 minute 59 seconds.

Lucian silently withdrew Ninetales. He had already seen how this would end during the battle—but still, he had held onto a sliver of hope. After all, what if a miracle happened?

But of course, the miracle didn’t co.

“ta~”

tagross looked across the field, waiting for the third challenger to enter.

“I’ve already dealt enough damage to tagross. Don’t waste the opportunity I just created for you,” Lucian said seriously.

Looking at the tagross that was still standing tall like it could take on ten more opponents, the remaining three looked at Lucian with expressions that said-'do you think we’re blind?'

“Internal injuries, you should know what I an, right?” Lucian added.

The three: 'Yeah right, we totally believe you.'

After he finished speaking, Lucian walked over to Murphy and said calmly, “Ti was almost the sa as yours, and I almost held on longer than you.”

Murphy stared at Lucian, he felt that this guy was even better at pretending than Julian.

Julian might act cool, but he had the strength to back it up.

This guy on the other hand was still pretending in front of him with nothing to show for it.

'Shaless thing...'
