"Gym Challenge Completed."
After snapping a photo of his newly acquired Gym Badge, Julian edited the caption and hit send.
He politely declined the group's invitation for dinner and returned to Gardevoir Hotel. Once back in his room, he released Lucario, ltal, and Arcanine from their Poké Balls.
"Don't even think about howling, or I'll send you for neutering."
Julian spoke imdiately, just as Arcanine was about to throw its head back and howl at the ceiling.
Arcanine looked at Julian resentfully. Even though it suspected its trainer was just bluffing, it didn't dare to take the risk. It could already feel a chill between its legs.
Turning to Lucario, it seed to be asking—
"We're both dog Pokémon, so why don't you ever feel the urge to howl?"
Lucario: "I just happen to have a dog-shaped head."
Julian then took out the Rare Candies he had received as a Hidden Quest reward.
- One for Lucario
- Two for ltal
- Two for Arcanine
That made exactly five candies, distributed perfectly.
The three Pokémon's eyes lit up. They had eaten Rare Candies before and knew exactly how valuable they were. One candy imdiately raised their level—without any drawbacks.
After consuming them, all three Pokémon reached Level 70, the peak of pseudo-Elite.
They had already been one or two levels short, so these Rare Candies ca at the perfect ti.
Now, together with his tagross and Steelix, Julian had five Pokémon at Level 70, all at the cusp of breaking into the Elite tier.
Once one of them broke through, the rest wouldn't be far behind.
At that point, Julian's strength would skyrocket, and he would officially beco a Trainer with six Elite-level Pokémon.
As for the rest of his team:
- Aggron – Level 66
- Gengar – Level 65
- Slowking – Level 60
- Gabite – Level 46
Among them, Aggron and Gengar would likely reach Level 70 within the next two to three months.
"Alright, from now on, all three of you will start accumulating energy. No breakthroughs unless I say so," Julian said solemnly.
The longer they accumulated energy for their breakthrough, the higher their power spike would be when they finally advanced.
This would also enhance their potential, making them even stronger in the long run.
"Patience now would lead to greater brilliance in the future."
Arcanine tilted its head, confused, not quite understanding what its trainer ant.
'Damn'
This Arcanine definitely had so dumb Husky traits—but it was so damn cute. That head tilt was an absolute lethal strike to Julian's weakness for cute things.
Julian patted Arcanine's big head before warning—
"Especially you. If you dare to breakthrough on your own… I'll make you Slowking's little sister."
Among all of Julian's Pokémon, Slowking was the only female. So the aning behind "becoming sisters" was self-explanatory.
"Grow!"
Arcanine: "I want to be the big sister."
Julian: 'This dumb dog clearly doesn't get it'
—
After having dinner at the hotel, Julian checked the ti—it was around 9 PM. It was the perfect ti to head for the auction.
The annual mysterious auction in Rockwell City was definitely worth a visit. Now that his Gym Challenge was over, he might as well go spend a few millions for fun.
Just as he stepped into the hotel lobby, he imdiately spotted Dawn, the elder sister of Kelly. Her airheaded little sister, however, was nowhere to be seen.
Dawn had been waiting in the lobby for Julian.
The mont she saw him, she quickly walked over and asked, "Young Master Julian, are you heading to the auction?"
Julian nodded, then asked instinctively, "How did you know?"
As far as he knew, only the hotel manager was aware of his plans. Did that guy tell her?
"Just a guess," Dawn said mischievously.
"I figured that since you ca all the way to Rockwell City, you wouldn't just leave so soon. And with the auction happening tonight, I thought you'd probably want to check it out."
She then looked at him expectantly and asked, "Would you like to go together?"
Whether it was a lucky guess or inside information, Julian didn't really care. Besides, he didn't know many people in Rockwell City.
His teacher, Frank, had already gone back to the university. So after a brief thought, he nodded. "Sure, let's go together."
Dawn's smile widened slightly, and for a mont, the surrounding n who had been stealing glances at her were completely srized. But none of them dared to approach her.
The guests staying at Gardevoir Hotel were mostly wealthy elites—people who weren't easily fooled by a pretty face. They understood that a beautiful stranger could also be a deadly viper.
And one look at Dawn was enough to tell that she was no ordinary woman. The kind of aura she carried couldn't be cultivated by a normal family.
Won like her? Best not to ss with them.
And as for the man beside her—
The mont they recognized who he was, they were even more afraid about approaching her.
Julian got into Dawn's car, then asked with mild curiosity, "A rich lady like you doesn't even have a driver?"
"I like driving," Dawn replied casually.
Of course, she had a driver. She just chose to drive herself this ti so she could spend alone ti with Julian.
Though in her excitent, she seed to have forgotten sothing very important—
Her driving skills.
—
"...How about I drive instead?" Julian suggested.
He watched as she fumbled awkwardly at the controls—
She wanted to turn on the left signal, but instead, the windshield wipers suddenly started moving.
She stepped on the brake so hard that Julian almost lost his dinner from the sudden jolts.
She said she liked driving? More like she liked bumper cars.
'This is so humiliating'
Dawn's face turned bright red in embarrassnt. If she could, she would've buried her head in her own chest to hide from the sha.
Julian had her pull the car over to the side of the road, and he and Dawn switched seats.
Even though Julian didn't drive often, his skills were still miles ahead of Dawn's. Following the navigation system, they made their way to Soul Auction House—the venue for tonight's event.
Due to heavy traffic, it took them nearly an hour to arrive. By the ti they got there, the auction was about to start.
The parking lot was almost full, and it took Julian a few minutes of circling around before he finally found an empty spot. Unsurprisingly, the entire lot was packed with luxury cars.
After their invitations were verified, a staff mber led them to their seats.
Julian's seat was in one of the ten best private suites in the auction house. Dawn's seat was also in a great location, though not a suite—instead, it was closer to the front.
"You can co with ."
The suite was spacious, with room for three people.
Dawn nodded imdiately and followed him inside.
Just as they were heading to the suite with the attendant, a voice suddenly called out to Dawn.
"Niece Dawn."
At the sound of this voice, Dawn turned around. Her expression briefly darkened with distaste, but she quickly masked it with a polite smile.
"Uncle Albert."
"Dawn, who is this man?"
Beside Albert stood a young man, likely his son. The mont he saw a stranger standing next to Dawn, his expression instantly soured.
Because of the dim lighting in the auction hall, neither Albert nor his son had gotten a clear look at Julian's face.
Julian: 'As expected, won are nothing but trouble'
