Rillaboom didn't want Julian to leave because it felt there was so connection between them. If it really couldn't beat Gyarados, maybe Julian would be willing to help.
As for Gyarados, it didn't want Julian to leave because it needed a witness—and after defeating Rillaboom, it also wanted to give that tagross beside Julian a beating.

Gyarados, at level 88, was the sa level as Rillaboom.

ltal provocatively beckoned to Gyarados with a finger.
But Gyarados didn't fall for the bait and recklessly charge over. At its level, unless truly enraged beyond reason, it rarely lost its cool over taunts.
It opened its wide mouth and fired a spiraling Hydro Pump, about a ter in diater.

ltal stood its ground and swung its left fist with imnse force, the impact compressing the surrounding air and causing a sonic boom.
Its fist glead with a white light.
ga Punch!
Seeing the arm extend like a spring, Gyarados was slightly surprised.
The ga Punch t Hydro Pump mid-air.
To Rillaboom's astonishnt, the Hydro Pump offered no resistance at all—it was completely overpowered by the ga Punch.
BOOM!
The ga Punch landed squarely on Gyarados's cheek, sending its eight-to-nine-ter-long body flying through the air before crashing to the ground.
Gyarados shook its head, its tough scales providing strong defense. Moreover, ltal's ga Punch had been slightly weakened by the Hydro Pump.
Given its own formidable strength, Gyarados was far from being one-shot by ltal.
"Dos!"
Gyarados admitted it had underestimated its opponent. Although this guy's level wasn't as high as its own, its true strength far exceeded what its level suggested.
It hadn't held back with that Hydro Pump, yet it was easily overpowered—a proof of its opponent's power.
That monkey must have known sothing.
Gyarados subtly glanced at Rillaboom, feeling as though it had been set up.
With a slight flick of its tail, its body rose into the air, performing a strange dance while airborne.
"Dragon Dance, huh? Quite decisive," Julian remarked calmly, standing atop tagross as he watched the battle below.
Gyarados recognized ltal's strength and wasted no ti using Dragon Dance to boost its Attack and Speed.

Dragon Dance could be stacked, provided the user's body could withstand the enhanced power after each use, then in theory, it could be used indefinitely.
However, the first use yielded the greatest effect, with subsequent uses gradually diminishing in effectiveness.
Gyarados used Dragon Dance four tis—its physical resilience was pretty good.
After four uses, Gyarados's aura clearly intensified. Upon closer inspection, its body had even swollen slightly.
The gaps between its scales widened due to the expansion, and traces of fresh blood seeped slowly from the crevices.
Clearly, four Dragon Dances were already the limit of what Gyarados' body could endure. A fifth one would most likely fail—and if it forced it, its body would be torn apart.
The pain surging through its body stimulated Gyarados's nerves, turning its eyes red as raging energy condensed into a golden Hyper Beam.
At such speed, unless the distance was great enough, the human eye could hardly track it.

ltal let out a sharp cry, its right fist tearing through the air with explosive force. The sound cracked through the sky as a deafening boom echoed.
Dynamic Punch clashed head-on with Gyarados's Hyper Beam.
ltal's ability, Iron Fist, boosted punching moves by 20%. Combined with the Ultimate treasure Boxing Glove, its punching moves gained an additional 50% power, effectively multiplying their usual might.
Dynamic Punch itself was already a powerful Fighting-type move, though its accuracy left much to be desired.
It would have been more ideal to close in on the opponent before using Dynamic Punch, as engaging the enemy's attack with it wasn't the most optimal strategy.
Fortunately, it still struck the Hyper Beam. Otherwise, if it had missed and taken the full force of the Hyper Beam, ltal would have been in for a world of pain.
