The battle was getting interesting. Slowbro was slower than Wartortle and with Wartortle using 'Auqa Jet', it would be much faster. But 'Trick Room' changed that. 'Trick room' would create a bizarre area where the slow Pokemon would be faster than the fast Pokemon.
Even though it was the perfect counter the move was not mastered fully. But it did make Wartortle slower. The attack did hit Slowbro, but due to the effects of 'Protect' it hardly did any damage. The 2 Pokemons went on attacking and defending. Both of the contestants use their own strategies.
Slowbro was using status moves like 'Calm mind' where Wartortle was only focused on attacking. Lyra had a strategy. She knew that she needed to end this fight fast as Slowbro was a Physic type Pokemon and it would get stronger with ti due to status moves. Wartortle used moves like 'Ice beam', 'Iron tail' and 'Bite' while Slowbro was using moves like 'Confusion' and 'hyper beam'. Axel felt that those attacks were not coordinated enough. It seed like sothing was missing from this fight.
After so ti, the effect of 'Trick room' was going to be over and Slowbro played his last card.
"Slowbro, now use 'future sight'"
Lyra gave 'I don't know what to do now' look when she heard Lorelai speak those moves. This move could be deadly as both of the Pokemons were now tired due to prolonging the fighting.
'Future sight' is a powerful Physic type move but it needs a long ti to prepare. At that ti the user cannot use any other moves and only have to defend and block other attacks. Lyra knew that if that attack hit Wartortle, it would receive heavy damage and even faint.
So, Wartortle started to go more offensive now.
"Wartortle, use 'Scald'" shouted Lyra.
'Scald' makes the user throw boiling hot water at its opponent which also may cause burn. anwhile, Lorelai told Slowbro to dodge the attack. It was only half successful to do it. It was hit with boiling hot water and was smashed to the ground.
"Slow....." It shouted.
"Wartortle, use 'Dig' and keep on doing it."
The effect of 'Trick room' was already over but the effect of 'Calm mind' was still there. 'Calm mind' raises sp. Def, so, 'Scald' didn't have 100% effect. So, Lyra decided to use so physical attack, hence 'Dig'.
Wartortle would use 'Dig' to jump inside the ground and co out of another and was constantly hurting Slowbro. However, the eyes of Slowbro were still purple. It knew that this 'Future sight' was the only move that could make it win this battle. But after so ti, Wartortle was hit with a powerful Physic force and it was blasted to the end of the stadium.
The force was so strong that, Axel could even feel it 50 ters far from the impact. The entire arena was filled with smoke and dust. Rubbles of rocks were falling. It seed that the wall of the arena was destroyed.
When the dust cleared, everyone could see that Wartortle was on the ground and Slowbro was also on its last legs.
Must miraculously, Wartortle had not fainted and it was trying to stand up. It stood with difficulty and then roared, "WAR... WARTORTLEEEE"
It seed that it was ready to fight again. Axel was bewildered to witness such a scene. The defense of this Pokemon was astonishing. Axel could confidently say that his Charleon could not handle such an attack.
"I told you to not underestimate Lyra. The starter families are no joke. They have their own legacies and training thods which are far above the league. The Toise family focuses on defense and this Wartortle had been trained very well in it. I believe that it could take another hit of the sa caliber if it had to" said Ryker while staring at Lance and partly Axel too.
Wartortle then used 'Dig' a couple of tis and ended the match with 'Hydro Pump'. Slowbro was hurt and was very tired from using 'Future sight'. It didn't stand a chance after using 'Future Sight'.
Axel was also thinking about what Ryker had said. 'So, Zard family focuses on the attack, the Toise family focuses on defense and Venu family focuses on versatility. But I don't think I have learned anything about versatility from Venu family. I think I have a lot to ask to Adam and Angela' he thought.
It was true that he had not spent much ti in the family itself. But he also had not learned anything substantial about versatility. If the Toise family could master defense to such an extent, then the Venu family also must have so training plans relating to their specialty. Axel made a ntal note to ask Angela about it.
Wartortle had won the fight and Lyra was happy about it. Then the second fight was ready to comnce and Axel was ready for it.
Axel and Ryker both went on stage and were ready for battle.
"I am going to show you how powerful an actual mber of the starter family is" said Ryker.
"Why do you have a problem with ? I don't think that I have done anything bad to you" asked Axel.
"I know but you are an outsider and the Venu family is giving a lot of importance to you. I do not like that. I want to prove that a real mber of a starter family would be much better than an outsider" said Ryker
Both of them threw their Pokeballs.
"Go, Flare"
"Go, Charleon"
Both of their Pokemons roared and announced their presence.
"You are challenging my Charleon with your Charleon? Are you an idiot" asked Ryker laughing.
Axel didn't give any response which made Ryker angry again. Axel was confident that Ryker would choose Charleon. He wanted his Charleon to face Ryker's Charleon.
Axel knew that he had been neglecting the training of Charleon. Before there was the feud between Charleon with the team and then after that Axel lost his vision for a month. So, he didn't have much ti to concentrate on Charleon.
Axel felt that he should now start thinking about this little guy seriously. Charleon would be a powerhouse and would be the most powerful Pokemon in his team in the future. He just knew that. Since Charizard was his favorite Pokemon he would be using it more often even in other regions. So, he wanted Charleon to face a strong opponent today.
