Axel entered through the door. It was a standard arena almost identical to Flint's arena. The only difference was the number of spectators watching it.
The arena was not full of spectators cheering for Axel and Renee. No, it only had a handful of people belonging to certain groups. Axel could also see the faces of Angela and Adam waving at him. Axel was confused. Why are the people that he didn't even know are wasting their ti watching the gym battle? And why are Angela and Adam here?
All these weird situations were making Axel confused but Renee was quick to clear it for him.
"Axel, I can see why you are confused. Let give you an explanation. This is just not a normal gym battle. This battle would determine whether the Venu family would be taking over Celadon City Gym or not. So, a lot of the people are interested in this fight, especially, the starter family mbers." Renee said
Slowly, Light started to brighten up Axel's head. Axel was now in the center of so political fight. At first, Axel thought to give his best and if he lost, he would try again in the next month. But looking at the situation, it seed like he had to win this fight. If he lost, he would be humiliated.
"Damn it!!! Why didn't Adam tell about this?" Axel mumbled.
This was the reason Axel was hesitant to be a part of the Venu family in the first place. He hated politics and he never wanted to be a part of it. But now it seed like he had to do this.

Suddenly, a loud voice could be heard from the comntary box.
"My na is Teena. I would be the referee of this gym battle. The rules of the battle are:
1. This would be the 3 Pokemon battle.
2. Only the trainer could switch out his Pokemon in the middle of the battle.
3. If the battle ends in a draw, the trainer would be the winner.
4. Gym leader Renee would take out her Pokemon first.
5. And since this is the trainer's 2nd gym battle, the gym leader could only use rare ranked Pokemons."

For a mont, there was pin-drop silence. But after so seconds, Axel could hear a lot of murmuring from the crowds. The crowds were basically divided into 6 groups.
The first would be from the Venu family. The second was from Zard Family. The third was from the Toise family. The fourth was from the people of this gym. The next 2 groups were unknown to Axel. But Axel tried to focus on the battle for now. He didn't have ti for thinking about these stupid things. He had a gym battle today and he would win it. Simple as that.

Teena was ready to start her referee duties"On my left side, we have the 8th gym leader of Celedon city, Mrs. Renee Krout."
This was welcod by shouts and clapping from the crowd.
"And on my right side, we have the challenger, Axel Blaze from Hakone City"
Again, the introduction of Axel was welcod by the crowd.
"Are both the trainer and gym leader ready for the match?" asked Teena.
Both of them nodded their head and then Teena said, "Now, please, Gym leader Renee, take out your first Pokemon"

Renee threw the master ball and a Pokemon ca out of it.
The Pokemon was tall and bipedal that resembled a coconut tree. Its body and legs were light brown with thin black rings and its legs were thick with two-toed feet. It had thin green leaves sprouting from the top of its body. It had 3 yellow-colored heads each giving different expressions of their own.
The Pokemon was Exeggutor.
Axel noticed 2 things. First, Renee was not as talkative as Flint. Maybe she was serious about this battle, unlike Flint. Second, Adam was right about Renee starting with Exeggutor. Maybe, he would be right all the way.
"Challenger Axel, please take out your first Pokemon," said Teena.
Axel threw the Master ball and ca out Shedinja.
"Marcus, let's do this!!!" shouted Axel.
The crowd was surprised by Axel's choice as usual.
"Let the battle Begin!!!!"
Without any instructions from Renee, Exeggutor started with 'Grassy Terrain'. This was a technical move by Renee. As a gym leader, she knew that the first move was important. 'Grassy Terrain' would settle the battleground more suited for grass-type Pokemon.
'Grassy Terrain' would also slowly increase the health points of grounded Pokemon (non flying type Pokemons and Pokemons not under the effects of levitate, Magnet rise or Telekinesis). The mastery of this move could make the Pokemon choose, which Pokemon should the effect be, but as of right now, Exeggutor didn't have that level of mastery.
However, 'Grassy Terrain' had another advantage. It increases the effect of grass-type move.
So, since Shedinja could fly, this move would not increase the health points of Shedinja and would only increase the health points of Exeggutor.
Exeggutor was fast just as Axel expected. "Marcus, Start with 'hypnosis'". This had beco a go-to move for Shedinja. But then.....
"Exeggutor, 'Calm Mind'" shouted Renee.
This very move made Axel nervous. 'Calm mind' is a dangerous move if a Pokemon could use it to its maximum limit. It not only increases Sp. Attk and Sp. Deff but also calms the mind of Pokemon which is a perfect encounter for 'Hypnosis' of Shedinja.
'Hypnosis' of Shedinja made contact with Exeggutor and Axel could feel that it had so effect on Exeggutor. Seeing this, Axel sighed in relief. It seed that the mastery of 'Calm mind' was on the lower side.
"Marcus, Continue with 'Hypnosis'"
"Exeggutor, 'Sunny day' and then 'Calm mind'"
"Marcus use 'Agility'"
At this point in ti, Shedinja could use 'Agility' 3 tis. But Shedinja didn't have the ti for it so, it could only use it 1 ti.
2 tis, level 27 Hypnosis was difficult to handle even for Exeggutor who had used 'Calm Mind' couple of tis. Axel could see that Exeggutor was getting slow and Axel said,
"Marcus, use 'Shadow ball"
Just as Shedinja was ready to finish this battle, Renee said "Exeggutor, 'Hyper Beam' now"
"Ohh, Shit!!!" shouted Axel.
"Marcus try to dodge it fast!!!"
'Shadow ball' and 'Hyper Beam' clashed but since 'Hyper beam' was powered up by 'Calm mind' by 2 tis, Shadow ball had no chance to overco that level of power.
Soon, 'Shadow ball' was dissolved by 'Hyper Beam' and it went straight to Shedinja. Shedinja narrowly dodged the attack but Renee was not finished.
"Use 'Confusion'"
"Double Shitt!!!!" shouted Axel.
Since Shedinja had just dodged the attack it was in no way ready to dodge another one. 'Confusion' had hit it in the face and now Renee was ready to finish this battle.
"Now finish it with 'Solar beam'" shouted Renee with a proud voice of a gym leader.
Due to the effects of 'Sunny day' and 'Calm mind', 'Solar Beam' didn't take any ti to charge and it hit Shedinja.
BOMMMMMM!!!!!
The arena was blasted by the attack and now it was covered with smoke and dust.
Axel had lost the first round and Renee's Pokemon didn't even have a scratch.
