"A Miltank...?" One of the boys looked confused. "But aren't they just the milk-producing Pokémon on your ranch, Mr. Naoki?"
Naoki smirked. "You can battle a Pokémon that produces milk! Besides, don't underestimate Miltank—they're much stronger than you think!"
As if to prove Naoki's point, Miltank flexed its muscular arms and let out a confident moo.
"Moo!"
Seeing this, the boy hesitated no longer.
He took out a Poké Ball and declared, "Alright then! We're ready, Mr. Naoki. Let's go! Fuecoco, I choose you!"
With a burst of light, a small, enthusiastic Fuecoco appeared on the battlefield, letting out an excited chirp. anwhile, his two friends eagerly watched from the sidelines, one of them pulling out her Rotom Phone to record the battle.
The battle officially began!
Miltank imdiately started using Rollout, curling into a ball and rapidly rolling toward Fuecoco at high speed.
"Fuecoco, use Ember!" The boy instinctively called out, but as soon as the words left his mouth, he saw Miltank closing the distance far too fast.
There was no ti for an attack!
"Dodge it, quick!" he shouted.
"Fue... Fue!!"
Fuecoco let out a panicked cry, flailing its short arms and—by sheer luck—managed to stumble out of Miltank's way just in ti.
Both the boy and Fuecoco exhaled in relief.
However, their relief lasted only a second.
The next thing they saw made their jaws drop.
Miltank didn't stop after missing. Instead, it picked up even more speed, expertly turning in place before launching itself toward Fuecoco again—this ti even faster!
This Miltank was a Rollout master!
The boy's face twisted in shock.
He had no ti to process before Miltank slamd into Fuecoco's back with full force.
"Fueee!!"
Fuecoco let out a cry as it tumbled forward, rolling across the battlefield.
"It hit! That should stop it now, right?" the girl recording the battle thought.
But just as she started to lower her Rotom Phone, she noticed sothing terrifying—
Miltank wasn't stopping.
Instead, it turned again and rolled straight for Fuecoco one more ti!
"Fuecoco, get up!!" the boy yelled.
"Fue... Fue!!" Fuecoco groaned, struggling to its feet.
But before it could fully stand, Miltank barreled over it again!
"Fueee!!" Fuecoco cried out in pain.
Just when the boy thought it was over—
Miltank turned.
Again.
And kept rolling.
"No way... it's coming back?! AGAIN?!"
Fuecoco's eyes widened in horror.
With pure instinct, the little Fire-type leapt into the air in absolute panic.
Unfortunately, after multiple consecutive boosts, Miltank's Rollout had reached an absolutely terrifying speed.
Fuecoco had no chance to dodge.
With a final, devastating impact, Miltank slamd into Fuecoco, sending it flying before the little Fire-type collapsed onto the ground, completely unconscious.
"Moo~!"
Miltank finally stopped rolling, standing proudly as it trotted back to Naoki with a cheerful expression, as if asking for praise.
Naoki, always generous with his complints toward Pokémon, smiled. "That was amazing!"
"Moo~!" Miltank bead with pride, clearly pleased with itself.
anwhile, the boy stood there in shock, staring at his fainted Fuecoco.
He had lost.
He hadn't even stood a chance!
But what unsettled him the most wasn't just the loss—it was who he had lost to.
Miltank wasn't even one of Mr. Naoki's battle Pokémon.
It was just a milk-producing Pokémon on his ranch!
Then, just how strong was Mr. Naoki's real team?
Before the boy could get too discouraged, Naoki spoke up. "Do you rember the na of this trial?"
The boy blinked, caught off guard. "Uh... Miltank's Wisdom Trial?"
Naoki nodded. "That's right. This trial is designed to test a trainer's knowledge and understanding of Pokémon moves. Miltank's Rollout is powerful, but it can be countered."
"A move that counters Rollout?" The boy frowned, trying to think.
No matter how hard he searched his mory, he couldn't co up with an answer.
Feeling slightly overwheld, he clenched his fists and said determinedly, "I'll find a way to stop it!"
Naoki chuckled. "I look forward to it."
Back at the Academy
Determined to find a strategy, the three students left Naoki's ranch and returned to Naranja Academy, heading straight for the school library.
There, they searched through the Comprehensive Moves Guide, looking for moves that could counter Rollout.
But after flipping through page after page, they quickly realized a problem.
There were just too many moves!
Too many types, too many strategies, too many possibilities.
After what felt like hours of searching, the three exchanged exhausted glances.
They were getting nowhere.
Just then, the girl who had recorded the battle suddenly gasped in realization.
"I've got an idea!" she exclaid, pulling out her Rotom Phone.
"What idea?" The other two imdiately turned to her.
She grinned. "I recorded the whole battle between Fuecoco and Miltank! And this is the digital age! If we upload the video online, trainers all over the world might share their own strategies for beating Rollout!"
The two boys' eyes widened.
"That's genius!"
Without wasting another second, the girl opened her phone's video editing app and started preparing to upload.
"Miltank's Unstoppable Rollout Strategy—Absolutely Unbeatable! If You Think You Can Counter It, Prove Wrong!"
"It's done! The battle video has been uploaded!"
Three minutes later, the girl successfully posted the footage of Miltank's battle against Fuecoco online.
But after staring at the bold title she had written, a worried expression crept onto her face.
"Uh… Are we sure about this title?"
The boy beside her nodded enthusiastically, patting his chest with confidence.
"Of course! No problem at all! This is how you get people to actually watch. If we make it sound too normal, nobody will care! But with a title like this, we might attract so strong trainers!"
As he spoke, his imagination started running wild.
"As long as people start comnting, we can learn how to counter Miltank's Rollout, and then we'll definitely pass Mr. Naoki's trial!"
The girl sighed, clearly not as convinced.
It sounded like a good idea, but… that title was a little too much, wasn't it?
She glanced at her two companions, who seed absolutely certain about their plan.
With another sigh of resignation, she gave up arguing.
The video was posted.
Now, all they could do was wait.
...
anwhile, in the Hoenn Region—Rustboro City
Thirty-year-old Tetsuya Sasaki had just returned ho from a long day at work.
Exhausted, he collapsed onto his bed and pulled out his Rotom Phone, casually scrolling through battle videos as he unwound.
Back in his younger days, Tetsuya had traveled with his Pokémon team, challenging Gym Leaders and competing in the Pokémon League.
But as the years passed, he settled down in Rustboro City—a place where technology and nature coexisted in harmony.
Even though his days of traveling were over, his passion for Pokémon battles remained.
Now, he spent his free ti watching intense Pokémon battles online, analyzing tactics, and occasionally battling in local tournants.
As he scrolled, his eyes landed on a particularly bold video title.
He read it out loud.
"Miltank's Unstoppable Rollout Strategy—Absolutely Unbeatable! If You Think You Can Counter It, Prove Wrong!"
Tetsuya blinked.
"What kind of nonsense is this?"
He couldn't help but scoff.
Everyone knew that Miltank was primarily a Pokémon raised by ranchers to produce Moomoo Milk.
Sure, Miltank could battle, and it was certainly tanky, but it wasn't exactly known for being a top-tier fighter.
Compared to Pokémon like Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur, it just didn't have the sa battle potential.
And as for the move, Rollout...
It was a pretty common move. Lots of Pokémon could use it.
Miltank's Rollout wasn't just any ordinary move. If it landed successfully and kept hitting its target, its power would continuously grow stronger.
As Tetsuya Sasaki read the video title, he had to admit—he was intrigued.
Whoever posted this had so serious confidence!
Curious, Tetsuya tapped the video to see what all the fuss was about.
The footage opened on a vast open field where two trainers—one noticeably younger and the other clearly more experienced—were locked in a Pokémon battle.
The young trainer had sent out a Fuecoco, while the older trainer—the one featured in the video's title—had chosen Miltank.
At the start of the match, Fuecoco attempted to use Ember, likely aiming to chip away at Miltank's health from a safe distance.
But before it could even launch its attack, Miltank curled its body into a tight ball and rolled forward like a boulder.
Caught off guard, Fuecoco barely managed to dodge, stumbling to the side. Perhaps it was just luck, but sohow, it successfully avoided the first strike.
"If that's all there is to it, then this isn't anything special," Tetsuya murmured to himself, unimpressed.
But the next mont, the cara focused on Miltank—and what happened next made Tetsuya sit up straight.
Despite missing its target, Miltank did not co to a stop. Instead, it perford an impossibly sharp 180-degree turn, hardly slowing down at all, before launching itself toward Fuecoco again at an even greater speed!
"Wait! What?! How is it moving like that?!"
