Chris was sitting in his room, gripping the handheld tightly in his hands.

A prompt flashed on the screen:

Copyfailed,automaticallysaved...Copy failed, automatically saved...

When Zapdos appeared, Chris knew his attempt was dood from the start.

Level 89 Zapdos.

A god-level Pokémon, combined with such an overwhelming level, was an unstoppable force.

Chris sighed, realizing there was no point in putting up a fight. Struggling would only bring unnecessary suffering to his Pokémon. Accepting his fate, he let the thunder and lightning engulf him.

But it wasn't all in vain.

As the ga reset, Chris noticed sothing unexpected: a bead imbued with thunder had appeared in his inventory. Holding it in his hand, he couldn't help but smirk.

Before being defeated by Zapdos, he had managed to transfer the bead into his backpack. Despite the defeat, the treasure had exited the dungeon alongside him.

Chris imdiately recognized the origin of this bead.

It was the legendary treasure found on Shamouti Island, ho to Zapdos, one of the three Legendary Birds, as depicted in The Power of One. In the movie, the protagonist had to collect treasures representing the three sacred birds and play the Song of Lugia at the temple on Shamouti Island to calm their rage.

But... how had this Zapdos, from the Orange Islands, shown up in the Hoenn region?

Chris couldn't wrap his head around it. Still, he decided it wasn't worth overthinking.

He reopened the ga to inspect the bead's attributes. Listed as a rare item in the valuables section, it was classified as a portable object.

Divine Treasure · Thunder: Doubles the power and range of Electric-type moves. Additionally, every minute, the power and range of the next Electric-type move are doubled again.

"Whoa..." Chris gasped, almost convinced he was holding the key to unbalancing the world.

A legendary Pokémon item with this kind of power was beyond imagination! Doubling the strength and range of Electric moves was already absurd, but to compound this effect every minute? The potential damage was astronomical.

With these effects, an Electric move could quadruple its power and range every minute. Against a Pokémon with a four-tis Electric weakness, like Gyarados, the results would be devastating.

Sixteen tis the original damage.

Chris realized that even a Level 50 Electric Pokémon could knock out a Level 80 Gyarados with ease using this item.

This bead was a dream co true for any Electric-type Pokémon.

Chris couldn't help but picture the Zapdos he'd just encountered. It must be livid now, knowing its treasured item had been stolen. Without the bead, its combat effectiveness had been reduced by at least half.

He marveled at how much these legendary items could enhance the strength of Legendary Pokémon. It wasn't just their superior stats that made them so fearso—items like this were a ga-changer.

Determined to test his luck further, Chris ventured back into the ga and approached the entrance to the underground power plant.

The interface displayed:

Enter the special dungeon: "Runaway Underground Power Station"? Yes/No

Recomnded entry level: ?

Current charging progress: 0%

"It's still accessible, but the charging progress reset to 0%?" Chris mused. "If I reach 100% again, will Zapdos reappear?"

More importantly, could the Divine Treasure · Thunder be refreshed?

If it could, this dungeon might beco a reliable source for farming this legendary item.

Chris doubted the ga chanics would allow such a blatant exploit—it felt like a glitch.

But what if it wasn't?

Chris felt no fear of encountering Zapdos again. After all, a dungeon defeat only reset the ga.

Reaching 100% charging progress would take just five days. Testing this theory seed worth the ti.

He grinned. "Five days to find out if I can break the ga? Count in."

Besides, Chris didn't even have an Electric Pokémon yet. That ant he needed to find a worthy partner for the Divine Treasure · Thunder.

The power plant, known for occasionally spawning rare Electric Pokémon, seed like an ideal training ground. Not only could Chris level up here while deciding on a goal, but he could also monitor whether Zapdos would remain in the dungeon. If the Legendary Bird consistently reappeared, Chris could mark this spot as a future objective. Once his Pokémon were strong enough, he'd return to claim Zapdos for himself.

"Let's do this!" Chris declared, eager to prepare for his next adventure.

This reminded him of the ti he went all out grinding at Mirage Tower. He'd recently checked to see if it had respawned, but luck wasn't on his side—the elusive fourth floor hadn't appeared.

"Looks like my Aerodactyl hunt will have to wait," he muttered, refocusing his efforts on the power plant.

Just as he was about to resu grinding, Chris's phone buzzed.

Not his actual phone, but his in-ga Pokémon Navigator.

This handy device, developed by Devon Corporation, had been a gift from Mr. Stone, Steven's father. Chris had returned stolen goods from Team Rocket to Mr. Stone, who'd rewarded him with the Pokémon Navigator in gratitude.

The Navigator had nurous functions: it displayed maps, tracked Pokémon Contest conditions, and even allowed communication with NPCs.

Along his journey, Chris had defeated countless trainers. So of them had recorded his number for rematches. Over ti, Chris had accumulated an extensive contact list, which even included Gym Trainers. Despite this, he rarely used the feature, relying on the Navigator primarily as a map.

"Who could this be?" Chris wondered as he answered the call, surprised to be talking to an NPC.

"Is this Chris, my benefactor?" ca a soft, unfamiliar female voice.

"Yes, it's ," Chris replied cautiously.

"Next week is my wedding with Lan. Please don't forget to attend!"

"Oh, right!" Chris exclaid, now rembering who she was.

Back when he was in Rusturf Tunnel, he had helped a couple remove a massive boulder blocking their path. In return, they'd given him a Machamp move CD and a wedding invitation to show their gratitude.

Riley was the groom, and the bride's na was Wanda. They'd ntioned plans to travel and hold their wedding on a ship called the Wave Breaker.

Wait a second—the Wave Breaker?

Chris's thoughts raced. That was the sa ship he had been waiting for to travel to other regions! The captain had claid the ship was still undergoing repairs at Slateport City's shipyard.

"No way," Chris murmured. "I need to check this out imdiately."

With that, he bolted out of his room, determined to uncover what was going on.
