Sawyer looked at Ash with a trace of nervousness in his eyes.
It couldn't be helped—Ash was the person he admired the most.
Because of that admiration, Sawyer had been relentlessly training day and night, pushing himself to his limits. And now, he had finally collected all eight Gym Badges ahead of ti, just so he could stand on the stage of the Kalos League as soon as possible.
That was why, when Sawyer asked Ash for a battle—to show him just how much he had grown—his heart raced with nervous tension.
But there wasn't a hint of arrogance in him for having beaten Ash to completing his badge collection.
"Sure, Sawyer. You managed to collect all your badges before —that's impressive. There's a battlefield right over there. Let's head over."
Ash nodded calmly.
Serena's heart tensed up imdiately.
The exact situation she had been dreading had co true—because Ash had accompanied her to Gloire City for the Master Class Showcase, Sawyer had overtaken him and completed his eight badges first. She felt guilty, as though her dream had slowed Ash down.
But when she saw Ash's calm expression, completely unfazed, she felt a wave of relief.
"Let's go, Noibat."
Ash didn't bother to guess what Pokémon Sawyer would choose. He simply sent out Noibat.
The little bat flapped its wings eagerly. Ever since training with Ash and Greninja in the Terminus Cave, its level had skyrocketed.
It was now on the verge of evolution.
"Then I'll use Doublade! Let's go!"
Sawyer revealed his Pokémon—Doublade. A Pokémon that, once evolved into Aegislash, could beco a formidable powerhouse in the right hands.
"Noibat, Agility!"
"Doublade, don't let your guard down. Use Swords Dance!"
Sawyer always felt himself unconsciously slipping into Ash's rhythm whenever they battled. His heart raced, but this ti, he forced himself to stay calm and rely on the training he had gone through.
Doublade's body glowed with a red aura as its attack power rose sharply.
Noibat, now boosted in speed, darted forward in a blur.
"Supersonic!"
"NOOIIIIBAT!!"
The bat Pokémon unleashed a high-pitched soundwave from its large ears.
"Doublade, counter with tal Sound!"
The two sound-based moves collided, reverberating through the battlefield. The waves rattled not just the Pokémon, but even the trainers and the crowd gathering around.
"Doublade, switch it up—use Slash!"
"Bite onto its blade!"
Doublade swung down sharply, but Noibat clamped its fangs tightly around the blade, stopping the attack cold.
Don't be fooled by Noibat's small fra—its bite force was astonishing.
"Now, follow it up—Crunch!"
Unlike Bite, Crunch was a Dark-type move. Against a Steel/Ghost-type like Doublade, the effect was devastating.
Sure enough, Doublade cried out in pain as Noibat's fangs dug deeper.
"Doublade, shake it off! Slam the ground with Slash!"
"Release it and Supersonic!"
"NOOIII!!"
The soundwaves burst forth again, this ti with no interference from tal Sound. Doublade staggered, its movents erratic—it had fallen into confusion!
The confused Doublade began hacking wildly at itself, its two blades clashing against each other in a chaotic frenzy.
"Now, finish it—Crunch!"
CRASH!
Both blades fell heavily to the ground. Doublade was unable to battle.
"Ding! [Congratulations, Host. Noibat has defeated Doublade! Tenfold Experience Card activated—earned 85,600 battle experience points!]"
Level up!
Level 46!
Level 47!
Level 48!
Right on the mark—Noibat had reached its evolution threshold!
"NOIII!!"
Noibat's small body burst into radiant light.
Before everyone's eyes, it began to grow larger—rapidly, powerfully. Its wings expanded, its body stretched, until it stood as tall as a human.
The light faded, revealing its new form.

Bonnie's eyes sparkled with excitent. The sleek black-and-purple body, the massive wings—it was simply majestic.
"Stronger and cooler, huh? Well, I'm not giving up that easily, Ash! Go, Clawitzer!"
Sawyer hurled his second Poké Ball into the air.
"Noivern, stay in and continue the battle!" Ash commanded, his eyes sharp with confidence.
