Chapter 874: The Clash of Sandstorms

"Petal Blizzard!"

Seeing this, Grayson imdiately shouted. Venusaur canceled its Vine Whip and instantly summoned a flurry of leaves to form a storm, attempting to sweep away the mist. There weren’t many leaves, only about a dozen, but when Terrance saw the force with which they sliced through the mist, he was astonished.

Even the mist was easily cut into a smooth plane by the leaves. The speed at which the leaves were fired and their sharpness seed to have been trained to the absolute limit.

"Psychic!"

The opponent’s attempt to disperse the mist created an opening. Terrance continued issuing commands. From within the mist, Gardevoir broke straight through all the leaves, appearing in an unimaginable position and launching an attack on Venusaur.

This position caught Venusaur completely off guard.

Like a surging torrent, the Confusion struck, instantly flipping Venusaur over. It had to roll across the ground several tis before finally stabilizing itself.

"In the mist, Venusaur may need its sight, but for Gardevoir, whose perception is incredibly strong, the mist might as well not exist."

After taking two hits from Vine Whip, Gardevoir had finally paid one back. From this point on, the battle began to turn.

"Frenzy Plant!"

"Take to the air!"

In the next instant, the entire battlefield shattered as countless massive trees burst from the ground like enormous tentacles trying to seize Gardevoir.

Gardevoir swiftly ascended into the sky, but the plants continued to climb crazily. In almost an instant, aside from the spot where Venusaur stood, there was no foothold left on the ground. Even the sky was completely covered by vegetation.

Soon, the plants surged upward wildly, seemingly about to capture Gardevoir. But in the next mont, Gardevoir’s figure vanished, causing Grayson’s heart to sink as his gaze rapidly swept across the field.

"Gardevoir, Psychic!"

After enduring one Psychic, Venusaur had not lost its ability to battle, but its injuries were certainly severe. If it took a second hit, even if it remained conscious, its combat strength would be reduced to almost nothing, unless it could quickly recover with Synthesis. But whether it would have that chance was uncertain.

On the battlefield, the only place one could stand was where Venusaur was located. At that mont, using the coordinates left from its previous attack, Gardevoir astonishingly crossed over the Frenzy Plant, its entire body radiating an intense glow of psychic power as it descended!

This attack was wrapped in intertwined blue and purple psychic waves, constantly compressing. Due to the mutual stimulation of the energies, sparks of electricity flickered within. One could imagine that Gardevoir was unleashing this strike with its full resolve.

However, to everyone’s shock, at this critical mont, Venusaur made a bold move in the face of danger. The Frenzy Plant suddenly sprouted countless fruits. At the instant Psychic bore down upon Venusaur, they all exploded simultaneously, and dense poisonous mist spread everywhere.

A counterattack from Seed Bomb!

Countless energies intertwined, triggering a loud rumble as the battlefield was instantly engulfed in smoke.

"What’s the result?" the referee stared intently at the field.

Monts later, when the smoke cleared, two fallen figures appeared before the audience.

"Venusaur and Gardevoir have both lost the ability to battle. As Contestant Grayson has now lost three Pokémon, we will enter the halfti break."

"A mutual knockout..."

"You did very well."

Terrance recalled Gardevoir, slightly stunned. In the final mont, Gardevoir had quickly ford a Confusion shield, but it was still swallowed by the explosive power of Seed Bomb.

Venusaur’s indiscriminate attack at the final mont cut off any chance for Gardevoir, who had teleported in to attack, to retreat.

This sudden turn of events made Terrance sigh.

Although Grayson had successfully taken down one of Terrance’s Pokémon, having paid a greater price himself left his mood even heavier.

The silent five-minute halfti break quickly passed, and the battle resud.

Grayson sent out his fourth Pokémon, Cacturne!

The mont this Pokémon appeared, Terrance didn’t hesitate and imdiately sent out Pupitar.

As the battle began, Sandstorms rose on the field simultaneously. The two sandstorms rapidly rged, erupting with trendous force and blanketing the battlefield in layers of swirling sand.

"As expected, Sand Veil Ability. But Pupitar isn’t going to give you control of the sandstorm," Terrance said seriously.

Although Cacturne’s Ability was Sand Veil, when Pupitar disrupted its sandstorm and caused two entirely different sandstorm powers to coexist, Cacturne’s Ability not only failed to display its power, it instead beca a limitation. Sand Veil had already beco Cacturne’s instinctive way of moving within a sandstorm. When the sandstorm could no longer assist it and instead ran counter to its awareness, Cacturne’s overall rhythm was thrown into chaos and it was struck by Pupitar’s Stone Edge!

"Boom!"

Blocking the Stone Edge with its arm, Cacturne followed its Trainer’s command and canceled the Sandstorm.

The constant clash of sandstorms between the two Pokémon gave Pupitar a deeper understanding of the move. It was still in a phase of rapid growth, and confronting an opponent’s Sandstorm this ti held great significance for it.

"Needle Arm!"

Grayson changed his command. After several exchanges, he finally realized that Pupitar was using Cacturne to hone its Sandstorm move! At first, Pupitar’s mastery over the Sandstorm hadn’t surpassed Cacturne’s by much. But during the clash, Pupitar improved at an astonishing pace. Through its gradually maturing sandstorm control system, it grasped Cacturne’s Sandstorm rhythm and soon turned the pressure back onto it.

"This Pupitar isn’t that strong. Go for a direct assault!" Grayson judged Pupitar’s strength from the earlier Stone Edge.

In the next mont, Cacturne swung its spiked arm and charged forward at high speed. Empowered by Growth move, the spikes on its arm expanded dramatically, piercing straight through Pupitar’s Sandstorm shield before swinging down with full force.

"Jump to adjust the attack angle, and follow through with Superpower," Terrance instructed.

Needle Arm collided with Superpower as Pupitar shifted seamlessly between technique and raw strength, unleashing the move’s maximum potential.

Leaping into the air, Pupitar t the attack head-on!

Boom!

Power exploded out and sand scattered everywhere. In that instant, Pupitar felt an overwhelming force and was smashed flying, losing its ability to battle.

However, Cacturne’s arm was also dented deeply from the collision, trembling slightly.

"Ninetales, I’ll leave the rest to you."

To prevent Cacturne from regaining control of the weather, Terrance sent out Ninetales once more. Under Snowy Weather suppressing the Sandstorm, Cacturne was unable to perform at full strength. Limited to only its most basic Grass Star Style techniques, it was soon defeated by Ninetales.

"Victreebel!"

Left with no choice, Grayson sent out his fifth Pokémon, one of his strongest main Pokemon besides his ace Venusaur, rivaling even Carnivine in battle strength.
