Before Darkrai was controlled by Team Nightmare, it was far from as powerful as it is now.

In terms of strength, it was only slightly stronger than Lucario when Albus first t Lucario.

However, there is a reason why Darkrai has gained such overwhelming strength!

“Terrance, do you believe that a living being can endure years of tornt?” Albus asked.

“Years of tornt?” Terrance put down the book in his hands and asked in surprise.

“That’s right. To endure years under the triple tornt of body, mind, and spirit… Such perseverance is truly terrifying.”

“Who are you referring to?”

“Darkrai. Every ti I think about it, my emotions beco complicated.”

Albus’s emotions surged violently.

How many people could truly feel the heart-wrenching cries hidden within those nightmare waves?

After Albus awakened his Aura, aside from the belief in escaping that kept him going, the unyielding will Darkrai radiated—its refusal to surrender, its determination to endure endless pain—was another reason that deeply affected him.

“Within that nightmare wave… I felt a conviction forged from sorrow, loneliness, suffering, and resilience.”

The first ti Albus felt Darkrai’s emotions, his heart was shaken to its core.

So, Pokémon could also have such complex emotions.

“Yes… Being subjected to countless inhumane experints by Team Nightmare, forced to unleash its instincts without pause for years… Just thinking about such suffering sends chills down my spine.”

At the thought of Darkrai, Albus’s pitch-black pupils grew slightly moist.

“Albus…”

“I believe Darkrai will find redemption.” Terrance fell silent.

Nightmare Island, inside the cave where Darkrai resided.

Terrance looked at Albus’s terrifyingly calm gaze, feeling a pang in his heart. Rembering their past conversation… he knew that, deep inside, Albus was far from calm at this mont.

“Is this the power that Darkrai forged through suffering?”

Feeling the dust rushing toward him and the tremors of the cave, Terrance stared intently at Darkrai, whose eyes burned with fury, trying his best to steady his emotions.

“In this world, there are far too many Pokémon. Even so with exceptionally high natural talent may never fully develop. The vast number of Pokémon, along with the unique personality of each individual, creates countless miracles.”

“I’m sure countless weak Pokémon do not necessarily disappear into nature. Many, through sheer willpower and the trials of life and death, surpass those born into noble lineages—even to the point of rivaling legendary beings!”

Terrance really liked this perspective. He couldn’t rember where he had read it, but the idea resonated deeply with his own beliefs.

“I can’t recall exactly when I stopped hearing Darkrai’s cries, but I don’t think it ever gave up. Rather, its willpower transcended, turning all that suffering into the fuel for its transformation—I can feel it!”

“During my long ti on Nightmare Island, I saw many Pokémon that displayed imnse resilience when facing predators. But a Pokémon as determined as Darkrai is truly rare.”

“Ordinary Pokémon, when caught by a natural predator and left with fatal wounds they cannot fight back against, generally give up struggling. Beyond the physical pain, the ntal anguish prevents them from facing death head-on. But Darkrai is different—it endured. Its cries were more harrowing, more painful than those of the hundreds of Nightmare Island’s test subjects and the countless Pokémon across the island who faced despair. And yet, while all the others—both humans and Pokémon—perished, Darkrai alone survived,” Albus said as he confided in Terrance.

“It must still be enduring that pain even now. But for so unknown reason, it has learned to face it calmly, to the point where it can remain conscious and even communicate with …”

When Terrance looked into Albus’s eyes, he could see the astonishnt and admiration within them.

“Can such a Pokémon really exist?” Terrance had always harbored deep doubts.

It was simply too unbelievable. This wasn’t like the dilemma of Gallade. Raised by humans, Ralts could have chosen a peaceful life… As long as it accepted its circumstances, it would never have to endure any pain.

But what Darkrai endured—the relentless tornt of Team Nightmare’s drugs, technology, and experints—were far from simple.

This was cruelty taken to the very limits of human malice.

“If such a Pokémon truly exists… then just how much has its soul transcended?!” Terrance was shaken to his core.

He felt as if he were looking at a giant in spirit. For a Pokémon like this, to describe its strength purely in terms of power would be an insult.

No one knew that in just a few short years, Darkrai’s rapid rise in strength was entirely due to its powerful soul, allowing it to transform all of Team Nightmare’s tornt into its own power!

One against two!

Albus felt a bitter sting in his heart, realizing that he had never truly understood the full extent of Darkrai’s strength.

It had once only been slightly stronger than Lucario, yet now it was holding its own against both ga Altaria and Lucario, two powerful Pokémon!

“This is… troubleso.”

Albus murmured, as the battle reached the climax, and Darkrai’s terrifying strength was finally on full display.

“So this is Darkrai’s power?” Watching the battle, where even two Pokémon struggled to find an opening to hit the dream weapon, Terrance felt a sense of relief. Even with Altaria’s ga Evolution, there were still so many formidable opponents. If he had given up the opportunity for ga Evolution, how long would it have taken for him to reach this level? Deep down, Terrance had a vague feeling that it would have taken a very, very long ti.

“We have to go on the offensive.” Terrance spoke.

Two minutes had already passed…of ga Evolution.

On the dream-enhancing device, there was only a tiny crack—one too insignificant to have any real effect.

“If this continues… our operation might end up in complete failure.”

“And even if we succeed, can we really pacify Darkrai in this state?!”

Terrance and Albus’s mood grew heavy. They couldn’t be sure.

Albus also felt a mix of helplessness and bitterness. Has Darkrai grown even stronger in this short period of ti? Or… had it only shown a re fraction of its true power when battling Lucario before?

“I understand. In the next two minutes, we must launch a relentless assault to suppress Darkrai. Otherwise, we won’t have an opening to attack that device.”

Albus declared.

Two minutes… If they couldn’t succeed in two minutes, they would have no choice but to use their final secret weapon.

He had co to save Darkrai, fully prepared for the worst. No matter the cost, this had to succeed!
