Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Into the Wolf’s Mouth
Three hours ago, he had just co back from Arica.
Chen Ji’s President Jing went to the airport to intercept him, hoping Zhou Jin’an would help facilitate a deal to acquire a piece of land in the city.
Knowing that Zhou Jin’an liked Southern Fujian cuisine, President Jing had specifically booked Jinhua Restaurant.
Unfortunately, his private room was right next to Qiao En’s.
A re wall apart, the noise from the other side was overwhelming, louder with each wave.
President Jing suggested moving to the teahouse.
As the group was coming out, Zhou Jin’an unexpectedly ran into Qiao En.
She was sandwiched amongst a group of strangers, playing rock-paper-scissors with a slick-faced man.
The atmosphere was lively, yet she seed calm.
It appeared that she hadn’t lost.
Cheng Lu, following behind Zhou Jin’an, also caught sight of Qiao En; he felt puzzled.
“Director Zhou, it’s Secretary Qiao.”
Cheng Lu had more to say.
Zhou Jin’an’s long legs had already taken stride, his face shadowed, not sparing Qiao En another glance.
He had traveled all the way to Arica, ostensibly on a business trip, but in reality, to check out the school she was attending.
After staying for a little over a week and searching all the universities, he had failed to find her.
He thought Qiao En was deliberately avoiding him.
He had left in high spirits and returned utterly dejected.
Before leaving, he had instructed a friend in Arica to keep looking.
Yet unexpectedly, he had run into Qiao En as soon as he returned to the country.
Amidst the chaos, she seed like a fish in water.
Should he be happy for her?
A perplexing frustration had ford in his heart.
Once in the elevator, President Jing awkwardly tried to make conversation with Zhou Jin’an.
Zhou Jin’an’s face remained cold, unresponsive to any attempt at dialogue.
When the elevator doors opened, Zhou Jin’an stepped out and unexpectedly ran into An Jinhua at the entrance of the restaurant.
He had one hand pocketed, hurried steps, followed by a woman speaking to him.
“Director Zhou, what kind of wind has blown you here?”
From a distance, An Jinhua, frowning but smiling, reached out a hand towards Zhou Jin’an.
Both n were rising stars in the business world, neck and neck.
An Jinhua was decisive and ruthless, while Zhou Jin’an was darkly intelligent — each had their strengths.
Yet, surprisingly, aside from a collaboration three years ago, the An family and the Zhou family had had no dealings since.
There was talk that the Zhou family wanted to enter into a marriage alliance with the An family, a rumor that spread quickly.
So speculated that there were going to be changes in Rong City.
An Jinhua was making a friendly gesture, and Zhou Jin’an had no reason not to reciprocate.
But at that mont, his mood had plumted.
“Evil wind.”
He blurted out coldly, ignoring An Jinhua’s extended hand.
An Jinhua was taken aback; he didn’t quite understand.
President Jing, who was at Zhou Jin’an’s side, was even more bewildered.
Zhou Jin’an didn’t give them ti to ponder as he walked away swiftly.
President Jing hurried to catch up, “Director Zhou, the teahouse is not far, please take my car.”
He said with a forced smile, carefully accommodating Zhou Jin’an.
“So other ti.”
Zhou Jin’an said rely three words, as Cheng Lu had already brought the Maybach around, the car door wide open; Zhou Jin’an got in.
At the entrance of Jinhua Restaurant, Xu i and An Jinhua hadn’t left yet; they stood one in front of the other, watching this scene from afar.
“Director Zhou is really not that personable, is he?”
Xu i expressed her thoughts.
An Jinhua squinted, his expression unreadable, “You an the contract was facilitated by Qiao En?”
Xu i affird, “That Qiao En is quite skillful; Manager Huang is really fond of her.”
An Jinhua turned around to walk inside; Xu i rushed ahead to press the elevator, and they went up together.
Outside the private room, An Jinhua paused before entering.
Through a slight gap in the door, he saw seven or eight people, all eagerly watching a ga of rock-paper-scissors.
Director Huang had drunk quite a lot, his face flushed and ears red, he was sowhat intoxicated.
But his gambling spirit was stirred up, losing one round after another. Occasionally, Qiao En let him win a round on purpose. Then, he insisted on continuing to play with Qiao En.
“Director Huang, how about I play with you another day? You’ve drunk a lot today, which is very harmful to your body. You need to rest well.”
Qiao En was not greedy; she knew when to stop.
Since it was a cooperation, the emphasis was on mutual benefits.
Maintaining each other’s dignity at the drinking table ensured a pleasant cooperation in the business arena.
“Not good.”
Director Huang was not ready to give up, grasping Qiao En’s hand.
“Let’s continue playing. If I lose three more rounds, I can continue signing the contract with you.”
This was a huge temptation.
By signing the contract, Qiao En could get a handso commission.
That night, she played rock-paper-scissors with Director Huang, and he signed contracts that went on for nearly ten years. In total, the commission Qiao En would receive was at least five hundred thousand.
If he continued to sign, her commission would only increase.
Moreover, she was here to make fast money.
If soone insisted on giving her money, wouldn’t it be foolish to refuse?
“Director Huang, the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall here is first-rate. You just focused on drinking and didn’t eat much. Let
serve you a bowl. Please have so food first, and then I’ll play with you later. Is that okay?”
Qiao En got up obediently, served Director Huang the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, and presented it with both hands.
Before Director Huang could accept it, the door of the private room was pushed open from the outside just at that mont.
An Jinhua appeared in fine attire.
“Director Huang, pleasure doing business with you!”
Xu i quickly stepped forward to pour a glass of wine for An Jinhua.
He took the wine glass, his gaze tightened, glanced lightly at Qiao En, and looked at Director Huang.
At that mont, Qiao En was stunned.
When she entered Tianyu, she hadn’t failed to do her howork.
But all the information showed that this was an insignificant PR company.
Qiao En had specifically inquired about Xu i, who had not revealed any relationship between Tianyu and An Corporation.
She was bent on avoiding An Corporation but walked right into a trap, delivering herself right to them.
“President An, your employee is really good!”
Director Huang toasted with An Jinhua, still full of praise as he looked at Qiao En.
An Jinhua also glanced at Qiao En. “Thank you for your hard work.”
He didn’t say much, greeted Director Huang, and with the excuse that he still had social engagents, left the private room.
Once he left, the others also lost interest, one by one leaving the table.
Qiao En followed Xu i and saw the group off to their cars.
On the way back, she felt sowhat disgruntled.
“Qiao En, you perford well today. Keep it up, and you’ll definitely have a great future.”
Xu i complinted her a couple of tis.
However, Qiao En did not show a hint of happiness.
“Manager Xu, when will the commission probably be disbursed?”
She was here for the money, so that was all she cared about.
“The third of next month.”
Xu i responded.
Qiao En leaned back in her seat, her mind calculating how many days were left till the third.
That night, through her own efforts, she had earned a commission surpassing five hundred thousand. Xu i had ntioned that An Jinhua was very satisfied with her performance, suggesting there might be additional rewards.
In other words, if she encountered a few more such opportunities, the one million she owed An Kexin could be quickly repaid, and Qiao De’s dical expenses could also be covered.
With money, she could leave here sooner.
Thinking about this, Qiao En did not worry too much.
Since it was all for money, thinking too much was useless.
That evening, when Qiao En returned ho, it was already very late.
She was alone, dragging her tired body towards the apartnt building.
The courtyard was deserted, the dim lights not very bright.
She stood in front of the apartnt door, reaching out to fetch her access card to enter.
Suddenly, a tall figure lood behind her.
