Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Playing God and Ghost_1

As the darkness fell.

Li Family Village fell into silence, except for occasional barks of dogs and chirping of birds from the mountain woods. So rooms in the village still had their candles lit. Because of a recent monster scare, many were afraid to sleep with the lights off.

Several security teams were patrolling around the village. Although the village had hired so martial artists to keep the peace, they didn’t account for much of the force. The bulk of the security consisted of regular strong n. As the night wind cooled down, unease crept in.

“Fourth Bro, Fourth Bro!” a guard whispered, “Co with , I need to pee.”

“Why don’t you go on your own?” the one called “Fourth Bro” was fairly reluctant.

“I am scared to go alone. Co with , please,” pleaded the guard.

“Alright, alright,” groaning, Fourth Bro told the others to wait and went with him.

They walked to the edge of the forest. The guard unbuckled his belt and started to urinate towards the pitch darkness, all the while muttering, “I wonder when our lives will return to normal. We’re just guards, ant to thwart thieves and burglars, and now we’re supernatural hunters! I heard the village owner invited a skilled immortal master and I just can’t help to wonder whether this immortal master would be able to deal with the monster. Hey, Fourth Bro, why are you staying so quiet?”

Sothing felt off. He turned around and found Fourth Bro, who was standing right behind him, gone.

Where did he go?

Panic seizing him, he turned to head back quickly.

The mont he turned, he saw a giant, ghastly face straight ahead!

“Ahh-”

The guard and the ghostly face scread together, it was hard to tell whose scream was louder.

After this scream, the guard rembered to pull up his pants, and the fierce ghost lifted its claws.

Turning back.

He ran and it chased after him.

“There’s a ghost—” As he was escaping, the guard continued to shout.

Before his scream lingered away, a voice echoed loudly from the air, “We are from the Shu Mountain Sect, which malicious spirit dares to cause chaos!”

Right after the voice, a dazzling Sword Aura, like a teor in the dark night, arrived instantly.

The fierce ghost saw the severity of the oncoming Sword Aura and imdiately lifted its claws to block. A loud clanging sound was heard and the ghost was shoved aside and thrown a few ters away. It imdiately turned its back and started to run.

Two figures swiftly approached and chased after it.

It was having no luck escaping!

“Trying to escape!” The clear, loud voice of Chu Liang rang out as a flash of red light quickly erged from his sleeve. This accurately landed in front of the ghost, wrapping around it mid-flight.

Demon Binding Rope!

Bang –

The fierce ghost toppled over on the ground and could no longer get up, instantly begging for rcy, “Spare ! Young Heroes, spare !”

Chu Liang and his partner already had uncovered that sothing was amiss. Despite the ghostly appearance, they couldn’t sense any malicious aura. It was clearly a human in disguise.

As soon as he landed, Lin Bei imdiately asked the figure that was tightly bound by the Turtle Shell Binding, “Did you feel great? Was that thrilling?”

“Um?” Both Chu Liang and the supposed ghost looked at him in surprise.

“Ah… seeing him tied up in that way, I just couldn’t help but ask…” Lin Bei quickly apologized, “Sorry, you ask, go ahead.”

Ignoring Lin Bei, Chu Liang interrogated, “Are you a human or a ghost?”

“I’m a human! I’m a human!” The ghost struggled wanting to raise his hands, but the Turtle Shell Binding made it impossible to do so. He could do nothing but roll around helplessly.

Chu Liang walked forward and pulled off the ghost’s hood. Underneath the mask, as expected, was a man’s face.

From what he could gather, the man seed to be a cultivator, but a very low-level one, at only the early-to-mid stage of the Second Realm, with no significant divine skills.

“Who are you? Why did you exhibit ghostly behaviors at Li Family Village?” Chu Liang demanded.

“I just thought it would be fun…” the man disguised as a ghost murmured.

“Huh, don’t even think about lying.” Lin Bei scoffed, “I assu you can see that we are sowhat perverted. If you lie, who knows what we might do.”

The man disguised as a ghost’s face turned pale, looked down at the red rope around him, and had to agree that Lin Bei made a fair point. If he were to lie, the consequences are better left unsaid.

He looked up in fear and cried, “Honourable heroes, don’t be angry, I’ll confess everything!”

“It was the shopkeeper of Jingyue Pavilion from Qin Nan River who sent . He said… he told

to dress up as a ghost and create chaos in Li Family Village. He wanted

to hurt so people and make a bigger fuss.”

“Jingyue Pavilion?” Upon hearing this, Chu Liang didn’t seem surprised. He had already considered this possibility when he heard about the situation from Steward Cui.

At this point of ti, the sudden appearance of a ‘ghost’ would certainly work in their favor.

“Yes, I simply carried out his orders. Perhaps, Young Heroes, you could let

go? I promise to cut ties with Jingyue Pavilion.” the man pleaded.

“Let you go? You wish.” Lin Bei answered with a sneer, then turned to Chu Liang, “What should we do with him?”

“Tie him up for the night.” Chu Liang ordered, “Hand him over to Steward Cui tomorrow. This ghost incident has made a great impact on Li Family Village. Steward Cui will need to handle it properly.”

“No, please have rcy, Young Heroes. This is my first ti!” protests the man disguised as a ghost.

“Save it, everyone we catch claims it’s their first ti,” Lin Bei dismissed, “Just confess and be done with it. Admit how many tis, with whom, where, who introduced you… The more details you spill, the lighter the punishnt. Maybe we won’t even alert your family and friends…”

The man paused for a while, then pleaded, “That’s unfair, it truly is my first ti. It was the Shopkeeper from Jingyue Pavilion who was unhappy that the recent ghostly activities in Li Family Village were not causing any injuries. He asked

to stir up more trouble.”

“That’s not right.” Chu Liang reflected, “Steward Cui previously ntioned that the ghost only tried to scare won and didn’t bother n, but just now it scared that guard. And he also said that the ghost moved very fast, nobody could see it clearly, but he…”

Right then, a woman’s scream echoed from the village.

“Ah -”

“There must be another ghost.” Chu Liang turned to Lin Bei, “You watch him, I’ll go over there.”

“Sure!” Lin Bei completely accepted his role as Chu Liang’s sidekick, as his cultivation was indeed not as strong.

He turned to the man lying on the ground, securely bound by the snakeskin rope and mumbled, “You really are professional… What’s that sll on you?”

“Well…” The man laughed awkwardly, “I scared that guard while he was peeing. I was standing right in front of him…”

“…” Lin Bei frowned and shook his head, “This Demon Binding Rope of yours, Chu Liang, is definitely spoiled now.”
