Serena stayed here for a long ti.
She kept throwing paper money into the fire, and the flas illuminated her face.
She talked a lot, about herself, about people around her, about the current situation, and many other things.
From dusk until night fell.
Finally, she was almost out of paper money.
She threw the last handful of paper money into the flas, looking through the burning fire at Evan’s photo over there.
She knew she should be happy, but her heart was still sorrowful.
"Dad, after saying so much to you, do you think..." Her eyes were red, she tugged at the corners of her mouth into a smile, and softly said, "Did I do it?"
But it was quiet here, with no response.
The flas flickered, casting shadows on her face, making her expression unclear.
Feeling sad, Serena slightly lowered her eyes.
"Dad, I miss you so much..." Her voice was very soft and fragnted, dissipated by the wind.
In the darkness, the area illuminated by the fire was limited, and the cetery was silent.
Serena hung her head, sadly wiped the corners of her eyes.
Even though vengeance was achieved, everything over these years...
If possible, she wished they could have always been well as a family.
The wind gently blew.
The leaves rustled beside her, as if soone wanted to say sothing.
Serena’s hair was also gently stirred by the wind.
But she kept her head down and didn’t notice.
And as the wind blew stronger, suddenly a gust swirled up, lifting the ashes from the burning paper money before her.
The wind blew up the ashes, unending flas whirled upwards around the wind nest.
Then, another gust of wind surged.
Serena beca the center of the wind nest, these flas surrounded her, flickering and swirling.
Serena had already lifted her head, her lips parted slightly, in disbelief looking at the flas.
Through the flas, she looked at the tombstone before her.
"Dad, is that you?"
Tears couldn’t be controlled anymore, continually falling.
The wind continued to blow, and the flas still jumped around her as if comforting her.
As if saying — "Serena, you did it, you are Dad’s pride. Don’t be sad, Dad is always here."
The flas danced, Serena extended her hand, wanting to touch them, but what she felt was the ashes left after the paper money burned.
"Dad..."
The wind kept blowing, gathering all the ashes up, as if comforting — "Don’t worry, Serena, there will co a day we et again, Dad will wait for you."
Tears kept falling, but this ti, it was different from before.
Serena teary-eyed, but finally nodded slightly.
"I’ll be alright." she softly said, this yearning will continue on.
The flas seed to understand, they danced and danced until they finally disappeared.
Serena looked at Evan’s photo over there, then at the ashes in her hand, emotions surging.
When she didn’t know when soone had suddenly appeared beside her, Serena knew it was Silas.
She leaned on his shoulder, and he gently held her shoulder, wordlessly comforting her.
After a while, Serena cald down.
She looked up, seeing Silas’s concerned eyes.
Serena smiled, nodded, indicating she was okay now.
Silas held her hand, his palm dry and warm.
Serena looked back at the tombstone.
The paper money was already burned, she softly said, "Dad, I’ll co back to see you later."
The wind rustled the leaves, seeming to bid farewell.
Serena stretched her hand and patted the tombstone before following Silas away.
From dusk till now, Silas had been by her side all along, maintaining a very appropriate distance, giving her enough space while letting her know he was always there.
At this ti, they headed in another direction, the butler brought another bag of paper money just bought.
Silas reached out to take it, and they headed to the children’s grave together.
But there was soone here.
Julian Lawson, sitting in a wheelchair, was constantly tossing paper money into the fire.
Serena was slightly stunned.
Although she knew Julian often ca here, this was their first ti eting face to face here.
Seeming to have heard the commotion, Julian’s hand holding the paper money paused slightly.
He turned around and looked at them.
"You’re here." he said.
Serena hadn’t started to speak, Silas beside her had already responded: "Mm, we ca to see the two kids."
After speaking, he naturally held Serena’s hand and moved forward together.
Julian only glanced at their hands held together, said nothing, and nodded.
Silas crouched down, opened the bag, took out the paper money inside, then conjured a small chair for Serena from sowhere, letting her sit well.
Then, he placed the paper money in her hands, and lit another fire pit, tossing it inside.
Serena looked at Silas.
He seed to perceive her gaze, curiously glancing at her.
Serena realized she might have overthought.
Thus, she lowered her head and smiled, saying: "I want to burn two paper-mâché kittens."
"Okay..." Silas rummaged through the bag, took out two paper-mâché kittens, and handed them to her.
Serena reached out to take them, throwing them into the fire.
Julian looked at Serena and Silas’s large bag, then at the paper money in his hand.
Julian spoke, "I didn’t know we had these."
While burning various paper-mâché items Silas said, "They’re all kids, it’s normal for kids to like these things."
Julian dumbly watched as Silas pulled out two paper-mâché toy cars from the bag and tossed them into the fire.
It seed... Silas had a point.
Julian looked again at the paper money in his hand.
It seed it had always been like this, Silas was considerate and attentive, but he only knew how to give money.
Silas not only burned them himself but also kept taking things out, handing them for Serena to burn.
Various paper-mâché clothes, little accessories, and so much more, bizarre and plentiful.
"Can... share so with ?" Julian asked.
Silas’s hand paused slightly, glanced up at Julian.
The two locked eyes.
The flas flickered, in the end Julian slightly lowered his eyes, looking at the flas to the side.
Silas said nothing, just continued burning things.
Serena watching all of this, didn’t know what to say.
So the three remained silent.
Burning for a long ti, eventually it was Serena and Silas who finished first.
Silas supported Serena to stand up, packed away the small chair, the two bid farewell to the children, then walked out.
Just as they were passing by Julian, Silas slipped sothing into Serena’s hand.
Serena looked down, it was two pairs of paper-mâché little gloves.
She raised her gaze to look at Silas, he was smiling at her.
Serena understood.
Then, she turned aside, placing these two pairs of little gloves on Julian’s wheelchair.
