Silas Hawthorne looked at Serena Sterling beside him, his eyes full of indulgence.
He reached out to pull her into his arms, kissing her forehead.
"Actually, I hope you can learn to rely on ," he said softly.
Serena looked up, gazing at Silas who was just inches away.
"Sure," she replied, not dismissively but seriously, "My father’s issues will beco increasingly difficult in the future, so, Silas, when I turn to you, don’t refuse ."
"How could I refuse?" he said.
He had already started investigating a long ti ago.
But ahead, everything was like a fog, unclear.
The sunlight slanted down, and he looked at her profile, his eyes full of tenderness.
When Silas Hawthorne ca out of Serena Sterling’s office, the orange sunlight filled the entire company.
Aeon’s employees were working in an orderly fashion.
Raine went into Serena’s office to report on so matters, and Silas Hawthorne stood there waiting.
"Mr. Hawthorne."
"Good afternoon, Mr. Hawthorne."
The employees greeted Silas Hawthorne one after another.
He nodded in reply to each of them.
After Raine ca out, Silas Hawthorne ca to her workstation.
"Mr. Hawthorne?" Raine looked at him in confusion.
"What’s going on with Zink and Serena?" Silas asked straightforwardly, "Do you know what happened in the office today?"
Raine thought for a mont and said, "Today, when they were chatting in the office, they called everyone else out. I don’t know what they were talking about."
"As for Mr. Sheridan and Zink, it seems they were arguing over a potted plant."
Raine knew who her boss was, so she only spoke about things everyone knew, non-critical details.
Even if the person asking was her boss’s future husband.
Silas Hawthorne gave Raine a deep look.
Raine felt a little uneasy under his gaze.
Finally, Silas nodded and said, "Not bad, keep up the good work."
After speaking, Silas left.
Raine felt a bit uneasy, so she knocked on Serena’s office door and went in to tell her what had just happened.
"Serena, what did Mr. Hawthorne an by that?" Raine asked.
Serena thought for a mont and understood.
"Don’t overthink it. He was praising you, just as he said," Serena smiled at Raine, "You did very well, keep up the good work."
Actually, it was just Silas Hawthorne casually probing.
If the people around her weren’t discreet, it would be troubleso.
Raine might not trust Silas, but she would certainly trust Serena.
At those words, Raine beca happy.
She nodded, "Okay! Thank you, Serena, for the complint!"
After Raine left, Serena laughed softly, a bit helplessly, and called Silas Hawthorne.
The phone was quickly connected.
"You gave Raine quite a scare," Serena said with mock annoyance, and then she narrated the incident with Zink to Silas.
Silas Hawthorne listened as he headed to the parking lot. After the call ended, he drove to the wedding venue side.
With the wedding approaching, he often ca to confirm so things.
He had just arrived when people imdiately ca over to inquire about sothing.
After handling matters there, he drove to another place.
Justin Jennings and Orion Hawthorne were both there.
"Bro!"
"Silas!"
They were in conversation, and upon seeing Silas arrive, they both stood up.
Silas nodded, then went to the table, looking at the items on it.
"Everything ready?" Silas asked.
"Yes!" Justin Jennings nodded.
"Absolutely!" Orion Hawthorne said excitedly, "We’ve done many simulations, and just did a field test with no issues."
"Yes, no issues. We’ll confirm again in a few days to ensure everything is foolproof," Justin said.
"Serena will surely love it!" Orion said, "Just thinking about the scene has excited, this will be the grandest wedding in a century!"
Justin also nodded in agreent.
"Good!" Silas said.
After confirming there, Silas returned to the Hawthorne Group to handle so remaining work.
His mood was great along the way.
Everyone greeted him, and he responded to each one, not even feeling bothered seeing the dissenters.
In the CEO’s office.
Silas Hawthorne stood in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the clouds in the sky, again recalling his first encounter with Serena years ago.
She was the financial world’s little princess, surrounded by stars, and he was an exiled son from a failed family struggle at sea.
She walked towards him from the crowd, handing him that Blue Diamond Necklace.
Back then, he hadn’t realized she was already a part of his life story.
After Silas walked back to his office, everyone was murmuring.
"Mr. Hawthorne seems to be in a good mood today, is there sothing good?"
"Not sure, maybe because the wedding date is near?"
...
anwhile, downstairs.
Ian Yates was carrying several shopping bags that were full of luxury goods.
Ian freed one hand to check his phone.
He saw two emoticons sent by soone marked as [Runaway Canary].
One was: Thank you, boss.
The other was: Buzz off, boss.
Ian’s mouth twitched slightly.
"Damn woman!" He almost wanted to throw everything away.
The once pampered woman, who used to call him sweet nas while asking for bags, he now had to visit her at her workplace just to see her.
And if he didn’t buy sothing, she wouldn’t talk to him.
"Call by my title during work hours, sales associate." That was her classic line.
But she wouldn’t see him outside work either!
It was infuriating!
He kept sending voice ssages as he passed by the Hawthorne Group building.
Recently, the area around Hawthorne had been plastered with promotional material for the upcoming wedding of the CEO.
Ian was handed one as he passed by.
Looking at the smiling faces of Serena and Silas on the material, he suddenly thought of Julian Lawson.
"I wonder how Mr. Lawson is doing now," Ian murmured softly.
anwhile, Julian Lawson, who Ian was thinking of, was sitting in a CEO’s office, with Vera Hansen’s phone next to him.
He was waiting for news from Preston Langley.
They had previously agreed on an exchange.
But Preston hadn’t sent him any ssages yet.
Recently, he had also been preparing manpower; this ti, he must catch Preston!
Sothing flew overhead in the sky.
Julian instinctively looked up.
And saw a giant balloon, shaped like an aircraft, slowly hovering across.
This was a commonly used advertising space.
It would float gently around the city all day.
Currently, the advertising space displayed the countdown to Serena and Silas’s wedding.
Julian looked at it for a while, then returned his attention to the phone nearby.
No more delays.
He couldn’t watch her marry Silas.
She could only be his.
