While Serena Sterling was stunned, everyone else also didn’t forget the dium that first exposed Serena’s actions—the PDF docunt from Vernon Gates.
With Serena around, the "Miss Lawson" title that Isla Lawson managed to maintain even by selling off overseas assets had now beco a joke.
Isla Lawson’s phone was practically exploding with calls.
Initially, she was just venting her anger in the conference room at Aether, smashing everything in sight.
Then when the phone kept ringing, she finally glanced at it.
Before she could pick up, the conference room door opened abruptly, and her secretary rushed in.
"Miss Lawson, sothing’s wrong." The secretary said breathlessly, "The old man wants you to return to Moonlight Manor imdiately!"
"What?" Isla Lawson stood up imdiately, still clutching her phone.
"It seems that the old man found out about what you did, Miss Isla, and he’s furious." The secretary promptly said.
After the secretary caught her breath, she added, "And this— I saw it on my way here."
The secretary handed her tablet to Isla Lawson.
It displayed the latest discussions about Serena, filled with mockery.
Isla Lawson clicked open that PDF and nearly blacked out at first glance.
Everything had been exposed.
All her carefully maintained secrets were now known.
And in a widespread manner—it felt like the whole internet knew!
"Bzzz, bzzz, bzzz..."
The phone kept vibrating, and Isla Lawson hardly dared to look.
But seeing Quinn’s na pop up, Isla Lawson gritted her teeth and answered the call.
Quinn was her friend, her close buddy.
"Quinn..." Isla answered the phone.
"Isla, are those things online true?" Quinn’s voice ca through.
Though she didn’t want to admit it, it was undeniable. Isla Lawson acknowledged, "Yes."
After she acknowledged, a mocking laugh ca through the phone.
"Isla Lawson, do you realize you’ve made a laughingstock in the circle too?"
Isla didn’t imdiately understand Quinn’s words: "What do you an?"
Quinn’s voice, filled with anger, ca through, "When you needed funds, I helped you secure them! Now everyone knows what you spent the money on, and I’ve beco a joke too!"
No matter how she explained that she was only responsible for securing the funds and not involved in any other actions, no one believed her.
Helping Isla with the funds and yet claiming to know nothing about it? As if soone would be that foolish alongside Isla.
Quinn couldn’t refute it; she felt utterly miserable.
In the end, she yelled angrily, "Isla Lawson, do you think you have many sincere friends? I’m sick of your ’Miss Lawson’ attitude every day!"
"To be honest, if you weren’t part of the Lawson Family and didn’t have a decent relationship with Julian Lawson, do you think I’d want to hang out with you?"
"Oh, now everyone knows what you, Miss Lawson, have done. It’s ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous!"
After venting her anger, Quinn hung up, not giving Isla a chance to speak.
"Quinn, Quinn!" Isla called out, but all she heard was a busy tone.
Isla tried calling back, but found that she had been blocked.
Staring at her phone, Isla saw ssages from people who knew about the fake Aether news she spread, coming to question her.
"Ah!"
Isla furiously smashed her phone on the ground, destroying it completely.
The phone finally stopped ringing.
"Serena! It must have been Serena who leaked it all!"
Isla’s eyes burned red.
Her public persona had completely crumbled.
Now, when people ntioned Isla Lawson, it was just a joke.
"I’ll make you pay!" Isla shoved aside the secretary who tried handing her a new phone, striding out.
As she walked out, soone at the front desk tried to stop her: "Wait, Miss Lawson, you just smashed up the conference room, and we need to file a claim, I..."
"Get lost!"
Isla yelled; she hated being called "Miss Lawson" now!
The title had turned into a joke.
All because of Serena!
It had to be Serena who did this!
Hatred surged within her.
Isla scoured Aether for Serena.
She eventually saw Serena heading towards the parking lot through the window.
Serena was getting ready to leave.
After a hectic morning resolving the issues, she was looking forward to enjoying a good lunch and so rest.
As they reached the parking lot, having agreed on dinner plans, Serena heard soone calling her from behind.
"Serena!"
An angry voice shouted.
Serena instinctively turned around.
"Smack!"
A slap hit her face hard, stinging sharply.
"Isla Lawson!"
"What are you doing!"
No one noticed Isla’s approach since they were all discussing dinner plans, and Silas Hawthorne had parked his car a bit farther away, not present at that mont, catching Serena completely off guard.
June Hawthorne rushed to pull Isla away, while Jasper Ford imdiately stepped in front of Serena, preventing Isla from harming her.
"So, Serena, you vile woman! You’ve ruined my reputation, what’s wrong if I slap you? I could tear you limb from limb!" Isla Lawson scread angrily.
"What nonsense are you spouting!" Jasper was furious.
He failed to prevent Serena from getting slapped.
Serena covered her face, looking at the now completely irrational Isla Lawson.
She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth.
Seeing the red on her hand, she’d had enough.
She didn’t hold grudges against Isla, didn’t want to fall out with The Lawson Corporation, but what did she get in return?
This vicious slap?
Isla’s baseless accusations?
Serena gently pushed Jasper aside and stepped forward.
"I’ve seen what’s online, but I wasn’t the one who spread it," Serena said.
"And... isn’t that what you did yourself? It was just exposed by soone else. If you knew this would happen, you shouldn’t have done it in the first place!"
"It’s all because of you, Serena, all because of you! You’ve ruined !" Isla shouted, struggling.
"Because of ?" Serena almost laughed from anger, "Isn’t it because of you?"
"Serena..."
"Isla Lawson, I’ve warned you countless tis."
In the dim underground parking lot, Serena’s voice echoed.
"You’ve been swept away by emotions, one wrong step leading to another. It’s you who created your own predicant with your own hands!"
Isla’s eyes were filled with venom as she scread, "It wasn’t , it was you! Serena, what are you proud of, coming this far just out of sheer luck!"
"Luck..." Serena laughed. When had she been lucky? Since her father passed, her life had been a series of relentless struggles, with few monts to catch her breath.
Looking at the woman before her, it was ti to shatter Isla Lawson’s illusions.
