Selling off overseas assets?

Why sell them off?

Isn’t The Lawson Corporation doing well?

The Lawson Corporation is the leading giant in Aeston, and Isla Lawson is the famous Miss Lawson. Why the need to sell off assets?

And secretly at that!

He had already felt sothing was off when he was in the private room before.

Thinking about it, Vernon Gates imdiately replied—[When did the sale happen?]

The response ca—[A while ago, oh right, just after the sudden spike in copper prices.]

Sothing is wrong, very wrong!

Why would Isla Lawson sell off overseas assets when copper prices surged?

Vernon Gates replied again—[Bro, buddy, help dig deeper, what’s going on with Isla Lawson?]

[I’m checking into it, I’m just as curious!] The other person responded.

Vernon Gates sat on the sofa and lit a cigarette.

He pondered over these ssages carefully.

Suddenly, he recalled that just before the surge in copper prices, Isla Lawson had raised funds once again, later making a huge profit and distributing it among those who helped raise the funds.

This was even touted in their small circle, leading people to believe that Isla Lawson, a graduate from a prestigious university in Frelia, was truly remarkable.

"So, she’s giving money to others while selling off her overseas assets?" Vernon Gates was puzzled.

"Why?"

...

While Vernon Gates continued his investigation, Serena Sterling watched Isla Lawson humming a tune as she left Aether’s parking lot.

"Buzz buzz."

Serena’s phone vibrated. She glanced at it.

Then, she put the phone away, opened the car door, and got out.

Serena nodded to the driver, then turned and went upstairs.

Aether.

Serena had been here many tis.

There were tis when Brandon Huxley set up decoys, making people rush over like it was a marketplace; there were tis for discussions with Brandon; and tis when the families scrambled to invest...

But never had it been like today.

Serena approached the reception desk.

"Where’s Mr. Huxley?" Serena asked gently.

The receptionist looked uneasy and said, "In the first eting room."

Serena nodded, preparing to head over.

Just then, the receptionist stopped her.

"Mr. Sheridan!"

Serena turned back, looking at the receptionist, "What’s the matter?"

The receptionist hurried over, glanced around, and whispered to Serena, "Many are saying the company is facing dissolution. As a company shareholder, are you aware of the specifics?"

Seeing the anxious receptionist, Serena smiled and reassured her, "It’s nothing serious, just minor issues, easy to manage."

But the receptionist seed to think Serena was lying.

She leaned in closer and asked, "Mr. Sheridan, does Aeon need any front desk staff or soone for odd jobs? If Aether dissolves, could I work there?"

Seeing the worry in the receptionist’s big eyes, Serena thought for a mont and then asked, "Why are you asking?"

"It’s not just ," the receptionist quickly replied, "Many are looking for another job!"

This was the anxiety of impending unemploynt.

Serena nodded understandingly; with the global economy on the downswing, jobs were hard to find.

She thought for a bit, then patted the receptionist’s arm, saying, "I’m not lying. Rest assured, things will be resolved."

Then she added, "And I didn’t hear any of this conversation."

The receptionist instinctively covered her mouth.

She realized she had misspoken.

But the whole company was on edge today; she wasn’t the only one.

Serena glanced around Aether.

Just as the receptionist said, people were constantly moving around, their faces filled with anxiety.

So were on their phones, either talking to soone or typing away.

The normally orderly company now appeared disorganized.

Serena looked away.

She patted the receptionist’s arm again and headed towards the first eting room.

If it’s really you, Isla Lawson...

Then, the cost of this young lady’s whim is far too great!

Isla can ss around with her, but she would never allow Isla to involve others!

Serena’s heels clicked on the tile floor as she walked.

Finally, she arrived outside the first eting room.

The door to the eting room was ajar, and she could hear Isla Lawson and Brandon Huxley’s voices inside.

"...What? Isla Lawson, you’re exploiting the situation!" Brandon’s voice was full of disbelief, "You actually want to take Aether’s shares now!"

Serena adjusted her angle slightly and caught a reflection of Isla Lawson in the glass.

Isla’s face was filled with smug satisfaction.

"Yes, Brandon, Aether is now at risk of dissolution," Isla smiled victoriously, "Before the news spreads outside, let take so shares from you. I can be gracious and buy them at cost price."

"You’re shaless!" Brandon exclaid.

But Isla just laughed.

"Brandon, this is rcy," Isla chuckled, "If word gets out, the shares in your hands will beco worthless."

"Besides, I’ll be facing the risk of total loss once I buy your shares."

Isla said, "At this mont, the only person willing to take over is ."

Isla’s eyes showed a clear determination to win.

That day in the private room, she was so furious that Vernon told her to compensate, and she actually did?

Did Vernon even invest anything?

The right course was for her to acquire Aether’s shares, no matter how she got them, and have Vernon purchase them for thirty million.

Vernon, of course, didn’t overthink it; Aether’s valuation was soaring, and getting the shares for thirty million seed acceptable.

So Vernon agreed.

Isla beca even happier.

Her plan was to buy the shares Vernon wanted at a low price, then have him purchase them for thirty million.

Make a profit in the process.

Then completely destroy Aether.

Leaving Vernon, Serena, Jasper Ford, Brandon Huxley, and Brandon’s mysterious angel investor with nothing!

Especially Serena!

Isla thought of Serena, a chilling gleam in her eyes.

She had recently learned about the old bet from the past generation’s gathering.

When the ti cos, the Ford, Quentin, Hawthorne families, and everyone betting on Serena’s win will be utterly humiliated!

"Have you thought it over?" Isla looked at Brandon, "Brandon, you can still sell to now. If the news leaks and others find out, I’m not sure I’ll buy."

If Vernon found out the news and didn’t buy, she definitely wouldn’t acquire Aether’s shares.

Brandon was nearly seething with rage.

"Is it you causing Aether’s problems?" Brandon angrily accused.

Isla loved watching them display such anger; it delighted her!

She especially wanted to see this expression on Serena’s face.

Thinking this, Isla smiled, the light making her grin appear harsh. She said, "Yes, it was , what of it?"
