"Mr. Sheridan," Susan Sumrs said excitedly, "I ca here today specifically to thank you!"

As she spoke, she handed the box in her hand to Serena.

"This is a little token of my appreciation," Susan Sumrs said, wiping the corner of her eye.

Serena reached out to take it, opened it, and saw that the box contained so of Susan Sumrs’ latest pastries.

"It’s been hard living alone with my daughter, but ever since you ca to my little shop, everything has gotten better."

Susan Sumrs said this with gratitude in her eyes.

"Not only did your company order pastries from us, but later several other companies also ordered snacks from us."

"After that, our shop had a stable inco!"

As she said this, Susan Sumrs smiled, a sincere and simple smile.

"I saw you really liked these last ti, so I specially brought them for you," Susan Sumrs said, "These are my latest creations, I hope you like them."

Serena watched Susan Sumrs, who was both crying and laughing, and she lowered her eyes slightly.

If back then, when she and her mother were down and out, they could have had such help, perhaps... things wouldn’t have co to this point today.

Thinking of this, she smiled: "It’s because your products are good, I didn’t really recomnd them."

"You were the one who discovered !" Susan Sumrs continued.

She was determined that Serena accept her gratitude.

Even though she had nothing, she could only make so snacks for Serena.

Serena looked at her sincere expression and gave a light sigh.

Then, Serena said, "Well, from now on, send so over here too."

Silas Hawthorne nodded as well: "I’ll have the butler coordinate with you."

Susan Sumrs was surprised and her mouth opened wide.

"I... I didn’t an it that way." She hadn’t co for orders.

Serena smiled: "I think they’re delicious, are you planning not to sell them to ?"

"No, no," Susan Sumrs quickly said, "I an, for free."

"That won’t do," Silas said with a smile, "If you insist, Serena won’t dare to eat them."

Only then did Susan Sumrs reluctantly nod.

After a while, she said, "You guys are really good people."

Serena shook her head to indicate it wasn’t necessary to mind, saying: "Co in and have a seat."

"No, no," Susan Sumrs said, "you guys have a good rest."

Seeing Susan Sumrs repeatedly refuse, Serena only then went inside with Silas.

Not long after, soone imdiately ran out from inside and ca over to Susan Sumrs who hadn’t left yet.

"Ms. Sumrs? Co in, let’s discuss the snacks."

Susan Sumrs imdiately nodded and followed them inside.

...

The car drove steadily inward.

Serena looked at the food box, her expression lonely.

They continued onward together.

Upon reaching the door, however, Serena didn’t go in imdiately.

"You should head back," Serena said.

Silas noticed that Serena wanted to visit Sheila Jenkins, so he nodded.

Serena, carrying the food box, ca over to Sheila Jenkins’ place.

She reached out and knocked on Sheila Jenkins’ door.

After a while, Sheila Jenkins opened the door.

"Why are you here so late?" Sheila Jenkins asked, but she didn’t invite Serena in.

Serena offered the box in her hand.

"There’s sothing delicious here, I brought it over, wanted to share it with you," Serena said.

But Sheila Jenkins still didn’t let Serena in, she just reached out to take the box.

Serena pressed her lips together, wanting to ask if she could co in and have a chat.

But before she could speak, Sheila Jenkins said, "Okay, I’ve got it."

Serena opened her mouth, but the words were blocked before they ca out.

"It’s late, get so rest," Sheila Jenkins said.

Serena paused, for about three seconds, then nodded.

After thinking, she said again: "I’ve left you shares in Aeon. When there’s a profit, dividends will be credited to your account."

"Hmm, I know," Sheila Jenkins said.

Still, she showed no intention of inviting Serena to stay.

Serena understood Sheila Jenkins’ aning—she wasn’t welco.

Serena felt a bit aggrieved, she looked up at Sheila Jenkins.

She really wanted to talk to her.

"Mom..."

Just as the words ca out, the door had already closed.

Serena lowered her head.

Standing there alone, a gentle breeze blew, stirring her hair.

In the end, she finally suppressed the sadness in her heart and turned to leave.

Inside the house, Sheila Jenkins watched Serena leave.

There was a complicated expression in her eyes.

For so many years, the relationship between them as mother and daughter had always been troubled.

Sheila Jenkins opened the food box and looked at the pastries inside.

She took one out to taste.

It was quite good, she knew Serena had always liked these little treats.

"Sigh..."

Sheila Jenkins let out a long sigh and put down the food box.

She felt like going out for a walk.

She took the shuttle out.

Then she walked along the lakeside outward.

Just then, she saw soone.

"Thank you so much, really!" A woman’s voice ca through, "I’m really sorry, having to trouble you to sign the contract so late at night."

"Don’t ntion it, Miss Sheridan must really like your pastries to want to sign a contract with you, it’s what we should do, it’s part of our duty," said the butler’s voice.

Sheila Jenkins heard Serena ntioned and walked over.

The butler saw her and imdiately greeted her.

Sheila Jenkins nodded, then looked at the middle-aged woman beside her.

She glanced at the contract on the table that hadn’t been put away.

It was for ordering pastries.

Sheila Jenkins suddenly rembered the box of pastries she had just tasted.

It was what Serena had taken over; it was the taste she liked.

Just now, Serena had wanted to share them with her.

"Susan Sumrs?" Sheila Jenkins read the na on the contract.

Susan Sumrs imdiately nodded, smiling as she asked, "And you are?"

"I am..." Sheila Jenkins thought for a mont, montarily unsure of how to introduce herself.

The butler quickly said, "This is Ms. Sheila Jenkins, Miss Sheridan’s mother."

Susan Sumrs suddenly realized.

She imdiately ca forward: "So you’re Miss Sheridan’s mother, you look so familiar and beautiful!"

"Miss Sheridan really helped a lot. If it weren’t for her bringing orders, my daughter and I would have been in dire straits."

Susan Sumrs said excitedly.

Sheila Jenkins slightly frowned, the woman in front of her with her daughter?

The butler looked left and right, montarily unsure if he should intervene.

At this mont, Susan Sumrs thought that Serena’s entire family were good people, so she was not on guard.

Besides, Serena already knew her family’s situation, and this woman was Serena’s mother and lived with her, so there was no issue.

Thinking this way, Susan Sumrs recounted the whole story.

Especially ntioning her and her daughter.

"Thank you so much!" she said.

Sheila Jenkins looked at Susan Sumrs.

She said nothing, and after listening to Susan, she nodded.

Her feelings were rather complicated.
