That was understandable.

The fate of the Card Maker and Wen Jiang depended entirely on Tang Qian’s word—she was gambling with her career, but the chairman was more concerned that this Card Maker might get entangled with dubious connections.

Wen Jiang thought, That’s not a problem. I don’t have much inspiration at the mont, but I should be able to make the cards. I need to request ten days off.

"You just took a day off—" Tang Qian stopped abruptly. "You’ve been making cards these past few days?"

Wen Jiang smiled but said nothing.

Tang Qian gasped. "You really are sothing...! Fine! I’ve seen your training videos with them, so I’m not worried about you competing."

Truthfully, Tang Qian had brought Wen Jiang in as an afterthought.

As for whether they could win the A-Level championship—Tang Qian hadn’t really considered it.

Mount Flower had never won an A-Level World Championship before. Could a miracle truly happen under her watch?

Having Wen Jiang on board did increase their chances, but it was a world-class competition, and Tang Qian had no expectation that their Empire could defeat the other two empires.

It was a blessing just to successfully qualify nationally for the world championship.

For Tang Qian, the cards themselves were the crucial long-term resource.

Wen Jiang’s quick agreent was a relief to Tang Qian, yet she couldn’t help but ask curiously, "What new card did you make?"

"Changer," Wen Jiang replied. "It’s part of a card set, but Hou Yi hasn’t been made yet. I’m not planning to release her first."

"Changer?" Tang Qian’s imagination sparked. "That sounds like a very beautiful na. May I ask, generally, what are her abilities?"

Wen Jiang considered Changer’s abilities. "It’s a Support Card. It can increase allied Card Spirits’ attack, bolster their defense, and also inflict debuffs on enemy Card Spirits. Of course, these aren’t all cast simultaneously; different abilities correspond to different statuses."

Hearing this, Tang Qian was taken aback. "An A-Rank Card with so many abilities? Is it strong enough?"

A multitude of abilities often affected a card’s overall strength, and she worried this one might not be powerful enough. Besides, this card wasn’t one of the specific ones the association had requested.

"Too many? More is better. It truly tests a Spirit Card Master’s reactions—knowing which ability to use for which status. Simplistic cards are boring. Where’s the fun in that?"

Wen Jiang, as if an amusing thought struck her, patted Tang Qian on the shoulder. "I’ll head back and work on the cards the association requested. I’ll co back in a few days."

Tang Qian was both curious and contemplative. How had Wen Jiang created such a card, and so quickly? What kind of prodigy had appeared out of nowhere?

"An A-Rank Card Set is indeed challenging." After leaving the association, Zero Egg also wondered what kind of cards Wen Jiang would make. "A set of purely offensive cards isn’t easy to create, right? Will it be five attack cards?"

"Pure offense definitely won’t be enough," Wen Jiang mused. "The five cards also need to complent each other."

Just like Changer, Hou Yi, and Jade Rabbit—since I can make these cards now, this card set must have interactive synergy.

As they spoke, she looked up and saw a pair of twin celebrities at the mall on the street corner. Their beaming smiles sparked an idea in Wen Jiang’s mind for a potential card set.

That’s right, they should complent each other. And what’s more suitable than siblings? In Yunxia’s mythology, there are plenty of family combinations.

Just then, as rain began to fall, Wen Jiang raised her hand to shield her head slightly. The changing weather undoubtedly infused her mind with even more inspiration. Deep in thought, she seed unaware of a nondescript man lurking in a street corner, following her.

The man kept his head down, observing Wen Jiang take her usual route ho from the association: enter the open-air parking lot and drive off in her sports car.

She’s also a Spirit Card Master, he thought. This job is indeed difficult. Sabotage the sports car?

anwhile, parked by the roadside behind the stalker was an inconspicuous small car. Inside, ng Qi, wearing sunglasses, was stealthily hidden, making a phone call. "Young Master, you were right. The Wu Family has likely hired soone to follow Miss Wen."

"Yes, I’ll keep an eye out during this ti. I understand."

After hanging up, ng Qi kept a close watch on the target.

Imperial City had Spirit Card Master patrols, so attacking openly in broad daylight wouldn’t be easy. The Wu Family certainly wouldn’t aim to kill Wen Jiang directly; they probably wanted to kidnap her and take her to the Wu Family estate.

Kidnapping an A-Rank Spirit Card Master within Imperial City’s tight surveillance network was harder than ascending to heaven. Nevertheless, ng Qi had to remain vigilant. After all, unexpected accidents were what people feared most.

Alas.

Even though Miss Wen scolded Young Master so harshly, he truly loves her! Even now, when things have reached this stage, Young Master still can’t let go of Miss Wen.

ng Qi couldn’t help but shed bitter tears for his Young Master.

I must protect Miss Wen properly. When she realizes Young Master’s deep affection, perhaps there’s still a chance for them to reconcile in the future! Then, I’ll be the number one hero!

anwhile, when Wen Jiang returned ho, she saw Nian Jian wiping the table. She stared at Nian Jian for a minute. Nian Jian looked sowhat guilty and didn’t dare et Wen Jiang’s gaze.

Wen Jiang walked over and said coldly, "Stop pretending. I heard the TV screen turn off the mont I stepped into the elevator."

Nian Jian: "..."

Keeping an idler at ho is never a good thing. Wen Jiang walked over, sat on the sofa, and said bluntly, "I ran into Du Zhaiyue at the association today. If you’re not a fool, you know which association I an. I’ll ask you again: do you know Du Zhaiyue?"

Nian Jian was stunned.

Wen Jiang didn’t miss the flash of panic in Nian Jian’s eyes that split second.

"I... I..." Nian Jian began timidly, "I really don’t know..."

Wen Jiang frowned. Then Nian Jian blurted out, "We really don’t know each other. I just saw her once, from a distance. I’m not sure if she’d rember ."

Not sure if Du Zhaiyue would rember her? Wen Jiang instantly concluded that there was likely so connection between Du Zhaiyue and Nian Jian, and Du Zhaiyue would most likely recognize Nian Jian.

She looked at Nian Jian, coldness seeping from her eyes. "I took you in because I happened to save you, and sending you back would cause trouble. But if you cling to your secrets and refuse to talk, I’ll find a way to deal with you."

I just want to know why Nian Jian has information about cards. If Nian Jian really refuses to talk, I can’t possibly keep soone potentially risky around.

Nian Jian bit her lower lip.

Her eyes reddened, and large teardrops welled up easily. Truth be told, she looked quite pitiful.

Unfortunately for her...

One person and one System—both could be called cruel.

Zero Egg: "What can she do besides cry? Looking at her is useless. Find a chance and ditch her."

Wen Jiang: "Stop crying. You look quite ugly when you do."

Zero Egg: "That’s classic you! HAHAHAHA!"

Nian Jian: "..."
