"Alert! Your precious eldest grandson has arrived in Border City!"
Zero Egg didn’t sound the alarm in Wen Jiang’s mind until they were close to the hotel.
Wen Jiang remained silent for a mont. In truth, even without Zero Egg’s warning, she had already sensed soone’s gaze fixed intently on her.
She looked up and, through the corner of a car window down the street, caught sight of Song Yingchen’s profile.
He had even thought to wear a mask to partially conceal his face, but his eyes were locked on Wen Jiang. He probably hadn’t seen her for a long ti and seed determined to get his fill now.
After a mont’s thought, Wen Jiang said to An Fuxue, "You head back to the hotel first. I have so business to take care of."
An Fuxue was quite discreet. Hearing this, she didn’t ask Wen Jiang what she was going to do but replied obediently, "Alright, I’ll go back then. Let’s et for dinner later."
Wen Jiang smiled and nodded.
Then, as she turned her head, her expression instantly turned cold, radiating undisguised impatience.
She even strode purposefully toward Song Yingchen.
"She’s coming! She’s coming!!"
For so reason, ng Qi felt even more nervous than Song Yingchen. He couldn’t shake the feeling that the approaching girl radiated pure killing intent, making his poor heart hamr in his chest.
And this was despite him being an A-Level Spirit Card Master himself.
Song Yingchen managed to keep his composure, if one ignored his tightening grip and deliberately lowered gaze.
Wen Jiang reached the car window and cut straight to the chase. "What exactly do you want? Weren’t my actions clear enough before?"
ng Qi, trying to be friendly, poked his head out from the driver’s seat with a playful grin. "Miss Wen, why not hop in and chat with the Young Master?"
Wen Jiang shot ng Qi a glance. His heart leaped, and he imdiately pulled his head back in.
Song Yingchen’s knuckles turned white from his clenching grip. He lifted his head and asked stubbornly, "Do you want to break up with ?"
"Hah, break up?" Hearing this, Wen Jiang almost laughed out loud. "My goodness, so you actually thought we were dating before? Are you serious? Who dates like you do, skulking around like a mouse afraid of the light?"
She lowered her head, her voice piercingly cold as she enunciated each word, "Wanting soone by your side but unable to let go of your pride, trying to have it both ways—that’s you all over, Young Master Song. Look at this scar on my face."
In reality, the scar was no longer visible. Wen Jiang pointed to her cheek, and Song Yingchen’s gaze grew heavy as he looked, as if he could still see the scar that had once been there. His heart felt as if it had been slashed by a knife, a wave of indescribable guilt surging within him.
"This is all thanks to you," Wen Jiang’s tone was venomous. "If it weren’t for you, that stupid asshole Wu Fanjia wouldn’t have co bothering . Back in the Song Family, you couldn’t even protect anyone—a useless, spineless coward. That’s you. Soone like you is fit to talk about love? You should find a ti to shave your head, beco a monk, and pray for your own deliverance."
After all, the original owner of this body was dead, so Wen Jiang cursed as viciously as she pleased.
So, only when she’s dead do you bother to co and mourn at her grave? Why weren’t you so attentive before?Utterly contemptible.
ng Qi felt as if his soul was about to leave his body.
He couldn’t believe such venomous words could co from Wen Jiang’s mouth, and he looked at Song Yingchen, trembling.
All color drained from Song Yingchen’s face as he endured her tirade.
For a mont, his eyes reddened and glistened with unshed tears, making him look sowhat aggrieved. Even his voice choked as he said, "You’re not Ah Jiang. Ah Jiang wouldn’t curse at like this."
"Yes, of course, I’m not Ah Jiang," Wen Jiang affird, her voice cutting through his denial. She rose to her feet, towering over Song Yingchen with disdain. "Ah Jiang is dead. Did you hear clearly? The Ah Jiang who liked you is dead—killed by your own hands. If it weren’t for you, she would never have co to Imperial City, never have enrolled in that school, and certainly never have been killed by soone else."
"She’s dead. Don’t co crying at her grave in front of ; it only disgusts ."
Song Yingchen felt a pain in his heart as if it were being torn apart. He looked at Wen Jiang’s face, finding it so unfamiliar; he couldn’t believe such harsh words could co from Ah Jiang’s mouth.
His palms were clenched tightly. He stared at Wen Jiang with reddened eyes, looking sowhat pitiful, but Wen Jiang remained unmoved.
Zero Egg, with maniacal glee, urged, His emotions are almost at the breaking point! Quick, quick, hit him with a few more insults! A few more!
"Don’t act so pitiful. When Ah Jiang was being beaten, what were you doing? When Ah Jiang was lying in the hospital, on the verge of death, what were you doing? This scar on my face... when I was bleeding all over the hospital floor, where were you then?"
Those words finally struck a nerve. Song Yingchen could no longer et Wen Jiang’s gaze and lowered his head.
He knew, of course. He knew exactly what Ah Jiang had suffered.
At the ti, his only thought was that the matter shouldn’t escalate. If only Ah Jiang would endure it. While he didn’t like Wu Fanjia, the Wu Family still had its uses; he could leverage this to make Wu Fanjia completely obedient to him.
At that ti, he had reasoned that Ah Jiang should endure it because he was planning for their future together.
He would definitely make Wu Fanjia pay a hundredfold for what they had done to Ah Jiang.
But before things could reach that point, Ah Jiang had suddenly changed.
Perhaps it was because he hadn’t visited her in the hospital promptly. He knew he shouldn’t make excuses, but he still subconsciously wanted to explain. At the ti, Madam Song had him confined to the Song estate; there were important guests. If he had left, his position within the Song Family would have beco even more precarious. Even ng Qi was under their surveillance.
He knew Madam Song was putting him in his place. She also knew about Ah Jiang and was forcing him to make a choice.
Madam Song had always looked down on people like Ah Jiang, never considering the life of a girl from the slums important.
But as these explanations flashed through his mind, one by one, he found himself utterly unable to voice them.
Just as now, he was rely frustrated that their years-long relationship had suddenly soured. Wen Jiang had beco indifferent, even unforgiving, and he found it incredibly hard to accept.
Because his Ah Jiang would never say such things to him. This person before him was so alien, clearly a different, unfamiliar being, yet she truly wore Ah Jiang’s face.
"Ah."
Wen Jiang suddenly clapped her hands as if rembering sothing. She reached into her coat pocket and pulled out a photograph.
Sitting in the front row, ng Qi watched her movents, and the scene that unfolded next was one he would never forget.
Wen Jiang held up the photograph, casually resting it against the car window for a mont before flicking it inside.
Both ng Qi and Song Yingchen saw the photograph. They saw the girl’s despair and helplessness, the humiliation she endured captured in that image.
But Wen Jiang rely smiled, a chilling smile that made ng Qi’s blood run cold. Her next words would plunge Song Yingchen into endless agony for a long ti to co.
She said, "This is the last image of your Ah Jiang that Wu Fanjia left for you."
