Chapter 222: Chapter 222 I Still Love Her

By the time we reached the hospital, I was barely holding myself together anymore.

The alcohol made my emotions even more unstable. I felt angry and I also missed her.

Ken kept trying to talk me down while we entered the elevator.

“Please don’t scare her,” he muttered tiredly.

I laughed bitterly. “Too late for that.”

Noelle crossed her arms beside him. “If this becomes violent, I’m knocking you unconscious myself.”

The elevator doors opened a second later.

I immediately walked out toward her ward. Ken cursed quietly behind me.

I reached her door and shoved it open immediately.

Sophia startled violently in bed. Her wide eyes locked onto mine instantly.

For one second, neither of us moved.

“Sophia.” I whispered.

She immediately sat up straighter against the pillows. “Zade-”

Before she could finish speaking, I walked in and grabbed both her wrists and pinned her gently against the bed beneath me.

The movement shocked her completely.

Patricia wasn’t there tonight. Luckily, we were alone.

My breathing became heavy while staring down at her.

Goddess, I missed her so much it physically hurt.

Sophia stared up at me with wide eyes. “You’re drunk.”

“Yes.”

The word came out rough.

“Let go of me,” she whispered shakily.

“No.”

Her heartbeat was racing now. I could feel it. Mine too.

Pain burned through my chest while looking at her face. Her eyes still looked slightly swollen from crying earlier.

She really had cried. That realization shattered something else inside me completely.

“You betrayed me,” I whispered brokenly.

Sophia froze “What?”

“You stood there and said I meant nothing to you.”

I felt my throat go tight now. My chest was hurting.

I hated this. I hated feeling this weak, but I couldn’t stop anymore.

“You said last night didn’t count,” I continued “Do you know what that did to me?”

Sophia’s breathing became shaky beneath me.

My wolf howled painfully inside my head.

“Zade...”

“What am I to you?” I demanded.

Sophia stared at me silently.

I tightened my grip around her wrists slightly without hurting her. “Tell me.”

“You’re drunk,” she whispered weakly again.

“I don’t care.”

“You should go rest.”

“No. I need you to answer me.”

Sophia swallowed hard.

My chest hurt so badly it became difficult breathing properly. The alcohol, emotional damage, and bond together were ripping me apart from the inside.

“You forgot the promise” I whispered suddenly.

Sophia frowned “What promise?”

And just like that...something inside me broke completely. It was because she genuinely didn’t remember.

My wolf went deathly quiet.

All the anger inside me suddenly disappeared. It became replaced by something far worse - heartbreak. Real heartbreak.

I slowly released her wrists.

Sophia sat up carefully while staring at me in confusion and concern now. “Zade...”

I stepped backward from the bed before she could touch me.

My vision blurred slightly, not from alcohol - from tears.

Damn it.

I turned my face away before she could see properly but it was too late.

Sophia had already seen the tears gathering in my eyes.

“I’m such an idiot,” I laughed bitterly.

“Zade, what are you talking about?”

I shook my head “Forget it.”

My wolf sounded shattered now. She forgot us.

Pain crashed through my chest so violently that I physically staggered backward slightly.

Sophia looked alarmed immediately. “Hey-”

“Don’t.”

My voice broke completely that time.

Then finally, I forced myself to look at her one last time.

The sight nearly destroyed me again instantly.

Because despite everything... despite the cruel words, I still loved her. And that was the worst part.

I swallowed painfully before stepping toward the door.

“You should never remember it again,” I said quietly.

Sophia froze. “What?”

But I didn’t answer, because if I stayed any longer... I was going to completely fall apart in front of her.

So without looking back again, I left
