Chapter 213: Chapter 213 Seeing Ashley

SOPHIA’S POV

Zade must have felt the change in my body.

“What’s wrong?” he asked softly.

I whispered, “Ashley...”

His hold on

tightened slightly.

“You’re worried about her,” he said.

It wasn’t a question. He knew I was worried. My baby was still in the ER.

I nodded.

“I need to see her,” I said. “I don’t know how she is... I wasn’t there...”

“You were sick,”

“That doesn’t matter,” I replied quickly. “She’s my daughter.”

There was a brief pause. Then he spoke again.

“I’ll take you,” he said.

I blinked slightly in shock “What?”

“I’ll take you to see her,” he repeated. “But you don’t walk.”

I frowned “I can walk.”

“No,” he said firmly. “You can’t.”

Before I could argue, he shifted again, moving away from

slightly.

Then, in one smooth motion, he lifted

into his arms.

I gasped softly in shock. I wasn’t expecting that.

“Zade-”

“Quiet,” he said. “Save your strength.”

I didn’t fight him. I couldn’t. My body was too weak, and... a part of

didn’t want to.

He carried

out of the ward. His presence drew attention imdiately. Nurses and other wolves in the hallway glanced at him. I felt their expressions shifting as they felt the strong aura around him.

His wolf was close to the surface. His wolf’s aura was protective and dominant. Even though I was supposed to be on strict bed rest, no one dared to stop him.

We reached the pediatric ward quickly.

My heart started racing again as we got closer. My fingers gripped onto his shirt unconsciously.

“Put

down,” I whispered.

He didn’t.

“Zade...” I started.

“I’ve got you,” he said.

And for so reason... I believed him.

He slowed his steps as we approached the ward.

When we got there, I saw sothing through the glass window.

Damien and Tiffany.

Damien was asleep. His head rested on Tiffany’s shoulder.

Tiffany sat there quietly, allowing him to rest comfortably. She patted his face softly. Her expression was calm, almost... content.

The sight hit

hard. My chest tightened painfully.

I couldn’t breathe for a mont.

This was the man I had once loved, the man I had built a life with. He was the father of my child. And yet...he looked so comfortable with soone else.

He looked so at peace while I was here...Breaking.

Why was I still bothered? What was wrong with ?

“Put

down,” I said again.

Zade didn’t move.

“I said put

down,” I repeated, this ti with more force.

He slowly lowered

to my feet but I didn’t step forward. I couldn’t.

My eyes stayed fixed on the scene in front of . My heart ached in a way I couldn’t describe. I hated it.

“I shouldn’t have co,” I whispered.

Zade looked at

“This isn’t sothing you need to see,”

“I needed to,” I replied, though my voice was hollow.

There was nothing more to say.

I turned away.

I couldn’t watch anymore. I couldn’t stand there and pretend it didn’t hurt.

Before I could take a step, I felt his arms around

again.

He lifted

up once more, holding

firmly against his chest.

“You don’t need to rely on him anymore,” Zade said.

I didn’t respond. My heart was racing fast now.

“You have ,” he continued.

My fingers tightened slightly against his shirt.

“I will be the man you can rely on,” he said.

His words were simple and direct but they carried weight.

For the first ti in a long ti... I didn’t feel completely alone.
