Chapter 206: Chapter 206 Im Serious About You
SOPHIA’S POV
When I woke up again, the sunlight was already coming in through the window.
For a mont, I stayed still, not moving. I didn’t even breathe too deeply, as if I was afraid that any small movent would break the calmness I felt.
My body still ached, but the pain wasn’t as bad as before. The fever had gone down, but I still felt weak.
Then I beca aware of sothing else. I felt warm.
The warmth wasn’t just from the blanket, but from behind .
My heart skipped, and I slowly turned my head, already knowing what I would see. Zade was there, sitting close to .
The sight of him made
rember how he held
throughout the night. My heart skipped a beat again.
“You’re awake,” he said softly “Good morning”
I swallowed. “Yes. Good morning”
My voice was still weak and hoarse from the dryness in my throat.
His eyes moved over my face carefully, as if checking every detail, searching for any sign that I wasn’t okay.
“How do you feel?” he asked, leaning a little closer.
“Better,” I said, though even I could hear how tired I sounded. “At least... better than before.”
He didn’t look convinced.
“You still look pale,” he said. “And your breathing isn’t steady yet.”
I let out a small breath, looking away from him because his attention felt too intense
. “I said I’m fine,” I insisted.
He didn’t argue, but I could feel that he didn’t believe .
I beca painfully aware of how close we had been all night, how easily I had leaned into him, how I hadn’t pushed him away. The thought alone made my face burn again, and I quickly sat up, trying to create so distance.
“I can manage on my own now,” I said quickly, almost too quickly.
Zade tilted his head, watching . “Manage what?”
“Everything,” I replied, avoiding his eyes “You don’t have to stay so close anymore. I’m not... that weak.”
He stood up but his eyes never left .
“Do you need to use the restroom?” he asked directly.
The question caught
off guard so suddenly that I froze.
“I-” I hesitated, my face heating up even more. “I can go by myself.”
“You can try,” he said calmly.
“I don’t need to try,” I replied. I was a little defensive now. “I can walk.”
He didn’t respond right away. Instead, he stepped closer.
“What are you doing?” I asked, my voice rising slightly in surprise.
Before I could react, he bent down and lifted
into his arms.
“Zade!” I gasped. My hands gripped his shirt tightly. “Put
down!”
“You said you’re fine,” he said. “So this shouldn’t be a problem.”
“This is embarrassing,” I muttered.
My face burned as I avoided looking at him.
“It’s practical,” he replied simply.
“I can walk,” I insisted again, even though I didn’t actually try to get down.
“I know,” he said. “But you don’t have to.”
His words made sothing in my chest tighten, and I didn’t argue anymore.
When we reached the restroom, he set
down carefully, making sure I was steady before letting go. His hands lingered for just a second, as if making sure I wouldn’t fall.
“I’ll wait here,” he said.
“You don’t have to,” I muttered. “I’ll be fine.”
“I know you will. I’m still waiting.”
I opened my mouth to argue again, but nothing ca out.
Instead, I just stared at him for a second before turning away and walking inside.
Even when the door closed, I could still feel his presence outside. It was strange, but it made
feel... less alone.
When I ca out, he was exactly where I left him.
“You took longer than I expected,” he said lightly.
I frowned “It wasn’t that long.”
He didn’t argue. Instead, he stepped forward again and lifted
without asking this ti.
“Zade,” I sighed, but there was no real resistance left in my voice.
“You’re still weak,”
“And you’re stubborn,”
“Yes,” he smirked. “I am.”
When he placed
back on the bed, he adjusted the blanket around
carefully.
“Rest,” he said.
I watched him for a mont. I was so confused. I didn’t expect a dominant Alpha like Zade to be this gentle and worried about .
“Why are you doing all this?” I asked quietly.
He paused, then looked at
directly. “Because I care about you”
“That’s not a real answer,”
“It is,”
Before I could respond, there was a knock on the door. Zade walked over and opened it, taking a container from the staff mber outside.
When he brought it back, the warm sll filled the room imdiately.
“This is from my family,” he said as he opened it.
I looked at him, surprised. “You asked them to prepare food for ?”
“I told them you were sick,” he replied. “They insisted.”
Sothing about that made my chest feel tight again.
“You didn’t have to do that,” I said softly.
“I know, but I wanted to.”
He sat down beside
and picked up the spoon.
“I can eat by myself,” I said quickly.
“No,”
Before I could argue, he held the spoon up to .
“Open,” he said.
I stared at him, feeling annoyed and embarrassed at the sa ti. “I’m not a child, Zade.”
“I know, but you’re my responsibility right now.”
That made
pause.
Slowly, reluctantly, I opened my mouth.
He fed
carefully, watching my reaction.
The food was warm and comforting in a way I didn’t expect. It reminded
of sothing safe. It was actually delicious. I enjoyed it.
“You didn’t answer ,” I said after a while.
“About what?” he asked.
“Why you’re doing all this,”
He set the spoon down for a mont. His expression turned more serious.
“I’m not like Damien,” he said.
The na made my chest tighten imdiately.
“I don’t hesitate,” he continued. “I don’t ignore what matters. And I don’t pretend not to care.”
I looked at him. My heart was beating faster now.
“I’ve already told my family about you,” he said.
I froze. i certainly didn’t expect that. Why would he do that?
“What?” I whispered.
“I told them everything,” he repeated.
“Why would you do that?” I asked/
“Because I’m serious about you,”
The sincerity in his voice made it impossible to doubt him. zade was an Alpha. They took their word seriously. So, they barely lied.
“I will marry no one but you,” he added quietly.
My breath caught, and I looked away quickly. His words made my face burn again. I started feeling nervous.
I couldn’t et his eyes.
“That’s... too much,” I said.
“It’s not enough,”
The room fell silent again, but this ti, it felt heavier.
After a mont, he spoke again, softer this ti.
“When you recover,” he said, “co et my mother.”
I looked at him, surprised.
“She wants to et you,” he continued. “And I want you to et her.”
I didn’t know what to say. Everything felt too real, too fast, too overwhelming.
“I need ti,” I said quietly.
“You can take all the ti you need,” he replied “I’m not going anywhere,”
I looked at him again, really looked at him this ti.
And for the first ti... I didn’t feel like running.
