Chapter 175: Chapter 175 For The Family
SOPHIA’S POV
The hospital corridor still felt cold when I stepped out of the elevator, but the tension in my chest hadn’t gone away.
I had just left George’s room, and everything that happened in there kept replaying in my mind - The way he had forced my hand into Damien’s, the way he had smiled like everything was still okay. I didn’t want to think about it, but my thoughts refused to listen.
I had barely taken a few steps toward the exit when I heard Simon’s voice again.
“Did you think that little slap made you impressive?” he said from behind . his tone was filled with mockery.
I stopped walking. My body went stiff instantly.
“Fucking bastard” my wolf whispered to .
Slowly, I turned around to face him. Simon stood there with his hands in his pockets. His expression looked smug. The red mark on his cheek from earlier had faded slightly, but it was still visible enough to remind both of us what had happened.
“You should have just stayed quiet,” he continued, taking a step closer. “People like you should know their place. It’s embarrassing, really, watching you pretend you belong in our circle.”
My chest tightened, and I felt my fingers clench at my sides. The anger ca fast inside . I could feel it burning through
like fire, but I forced myself to stay calm. I had dealt with worse than Simon. I had endured years of silence of being treated like I didn’t matter.
“Stop talking about things you don’t understand,” I said.
Simon laughed. “Oh, I understand perfectly. A woman from a struggling family marrying into wealth and thinking she’s suddenly equal. Tell , Sophia, how long do you think that illusion lasts? Let’s start with that family of yours. Let’s take Patricia for example. She-”
That was it.
I stepped forward without thinking. My emotions finally snapped.
“You don’t get to speak about my family like that,” I said. “You don’t know anything about them or what they’ve done for .”
Simon’s expression hardened instantly, and before I could react, his hand shot out and he shoved
hard in the chest.
The force caught
completely off guard.
I stumbled backward. My foot missed its balance, and the next thing I knew, I was on the ground. The impact sent pain shooting through my arm. I gasped as my injured arm hit the floor first. The pain was intense, like sothing tearing open again.
I pressed my lips together, trying not to cry out. I could feel sothing warm rolling down my skin.
My wound had reopened.
Blood began to seep through the bandage. My breathing beca uneven as I tried to push myself up, but the pain made it difficult to move properly. My wolf stirred inside . She felt restless and angry, but there was nothing she could do.
Simon looked down at
with an evil smile
“Maybe that’ll teach you to stay quiet,” he said coldly.
For a mont, I just stayed there, staring at the ground. Then, slowly, I lifted my head and looked at him. There was no fear in my eyes. I made sure of that.
“You’re pathetic,” I said quietly.
His jaw tightened, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he turned and walked away, leaving
there on the cold hospital floor like I ant nothing.
I stayed there for a few seconds longer, gathering myself, before slowly pushing myself up. My arm throbbed with every movent, and I could feel the blood soaking through the bandage more clearly now. It hurt, but I had learned how to live with pain.
I always had.
-
By the ti I got ho, it was already late.
The house was quiet, but sothing about the silence felt off. I stepped inside slowly, closing the door behind , and leaned against it for a mont. My arm still hurt but I ignored it.
I had bigger things on my mind.
As I walked further into the house, I noticed the lights were still on in the living room. That was unusual. Patricia usually went to bed early, especially after everything she had been dealing with lately.
Frowning slightly, I moved closer to the window.
That was when I saw it.
Outside, Patricia was getting into a car. She looked uneasy, like she didn’t want to be there. The man standing beside the car was soone I recognized imdiately.
Simon’s assistant.
My stomach tightened instantly.
What was Patricia doing with him? this was weird.
Patricia said sothing I couldn’t hear, but the assistant just opened the car door wider, gesturing for her to get in. After a hesitating, she did.
The car door closed then it drove away.
I stood there, staring at the empty street. I was shocked. I was confused.
What just happened?
I had a strange feeling settling deep in my chest. Sothing wasn’t right. I couldn’t explain it, but every instinct I had was telling
that sothing was wrong.
Very wrong.
I shook my head, turning to my room. I stripped off my clothes and had a good shower. I made sure to take care of my skin that night. I exfoliated, showered and masked my whole body.
I needed a detox. It could help
relax
While drying my hair, my phone buzzed suddenly in my hand, pulling
out of my thoughts.
It was a ssage from Bianca.
I opened it quickly.
Bianca: Sophia, sothing’s wrong. Patricia is with Simon and Tiffany’s brother. They forced her to drink. She’s not okay. I think she’s in danger.
My heart dropped.
For a second, I just stared at the screen. My mind tried to process what I had just read. Then everything clicked into place - the car, the hesitation, the uneasy look on Patricia’s face.
They had taken her sowhere
Without thinking, I grabbed my keys.
-
The drive felt longer than it actually was.
My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly. My mind kept racing with every possible scenario. I kept thinking about Patricia, about the way she had looked when she got into that car. She hadn’t wanted to go.
And now- Now she was with people like Simon and Peter.
My chest tightened painfully.
“Hold on,” I muttered under my breath. “Just hold on.”
When I arrived, the building was loud.
Music ca out from inside, mixed with laughter and voices that sounded careless and drunk. The lights were bright, flashing through the windows, and the entire place felt wrong.
I didn’t hesitate. I walked straight to the door and kicked it open.
The sound echoed through the room, and everything seed to freeze for a second. Conversations stopped. Music continued, but the attention shifted instantly toward .
And then I saw her.
Patricia was on the couch. Her body was slumped. Her face was pale and flushed at the sa ti. A glass was in her hand, but it was tilted, spilling onto the floor. She looked barely conscious.
And Peter? Peter was leaning over her.
Sothing inside
snapped.
I didn’t think. I didn’t hesitate.
I moved.
My foot connected with his side before he even realized what was happening, sending him stumbling backward. The glass in his hand shattered against the floor as he lost his balance, crashing into the table behind him.
“What the hell-” he started, but I didn’t let him finish.
“Get away from her!” I shouted.
The room fell completely silent.
Peter looked up at . His expression shifted from shock to anger. “You think you can just walk in here-”
“Yes,” I cut him off coldly. “I can.”
I moved to Patricia’s side imdiately, kneeling beside her.
“Patricia,” I called softly, touching her shoulder. “Can you hear ?”
She stirred slightly. Slowly, her eyes opened. They were unfocused, glassy, and filled with confusion.
“Sophia...?” she mumbled weakly.
“I’m here,” I said, my voice softer now. “You’re okay.”
Behind , I could feel the tension building, but I didn’t care. All that mattered was getting her out of there.
“Get up,” I said gently, helping her sit properly. “We’re leaving.”
She nodded weakly, leaning heavily against .
As I helped her to her feet, she murmured sothing under her breath.
“Everything... gone...” she whispered.
I frowned “What do you an?”
Her head rested against my shoulder. “The business... Simon... he cut everything off... we’re losing everything...”
My heart sank.
“And... I had to...” she continued weakly. “I had to try... for the family...”
I tightened my hold on her.
So that was it. She had co here for that - For her family.
What the hell happened?
What did Simon do to us?
