Chapter 40

"There’s sothing ahead... It looks like... a ship?" Mikita said, widening her eyes as she stared at the vessel in front of them.

"Pirates? Or the Navy?" Rorschach asked lazily from his chair without moving, though his Observation Haki had already extended outward.

"Hmm... doesn’t look like either. Feels more like a royal ship from so kingdom."

"Oh?" Rorschach opened his eyes, removed his sunglasses, and walked to the bow to look ahead.

A massive, luxurious ship was sailing across the sea.

A king’s fleet? The only kingdom nearby should be Drum Island, right? Could it be that guy Wapol?

"Don’t worry about them. Just keep heading toward our destination," Rorschach said, losing interest as he returned to the deck. From his Haki perception, these people didn’t seem particularly strong and posed no real threat.

"Um... I think our course is the sa as theirs," Mikita said after comparing the routes. The huge ship was heading in exactly the sa direction.

"Don’t worry, it’ll be fine. If they try anything, we’ll just wipe them out," Rorschach waved his hand dismissively.

Soon the two ships drew closer. Since Rorschach’s vessel was smaller and faster, they quickly caught up.

"Hey! Who the hell are you people?! You see King Wapol and you don’t stop to bow and offer your treasures...!" Wapol started shouting before he could even finish.

Rorschach, already impatient, drew his sword and sent out a single slash wave that destroyed the entire ship.

"It really is that guy. Still just as annoying as in the original," Rorschach muttered, picking his ear. He didn’t notice Mikita above him trembling in fear.

Good thing I didn’t resist him yesterday... or that would’ve been .

Watching the ship break into pieces and slowly sink, Mikita swallowed hard.

Out on the open sea, losing your ship ant certain death — especially for a Devil Fruit user.

The mont Wapol fell into the water, his fate was sealed.

The next two days of sailing went smoothly. With Nami acting as a living weather radar, they avoided every incoming storm.

As for the occasional small-ti pirates who tried to rob them, Rorschach took care of them with a single slash. He showed no rcy to anyone bold enough to attack.

"We’ve finally reached Drum Island," Rorschach said with emotion as he looked at the snow-covered island.

Due to the Grand Line’s unique geography, Drum Island was constantly blanketed in snow. The entire island had turned pure white.

"Kaya, co with . The rest of you wait here," Rorschach said. He picked Kaya up and flew toward the island’s highest peak.

On the blizzard-swept island, Rorschach hovered in the sky, looking down at the snow-covered town and the rabbits in the outskirts.

They soon reached the tallest peak, where a castle stood at the summit.

Dr. Kureha watched the two people descending from the sky through her window and frowned.

"Sigh... Trouble’s co knocking," she muttered. She slowly stood up and left her study.

"Dr. Kureha, where are you going?" Chopper asked, pausing his dicine-making.

"It’s nothing. Chopper, keep working and don’t co out," Dr. Kureha said without explanation. She closed the door behind her and walked to the entrance.

Rorschach’s Observation Haki had already sensed soone at the door. Before he could knock, the door opened.

Dr. Kureha glanced at the twin swords on Rorschach’s waist, then at his blond hair.

"You’re the Golden Lion’s son?"

Her words were shocking and left Rorschach with a dark line running down his face.

"No, I’m Old Man Shiki’s disciple."

"That blond hair looks exactly like that guy’s son."

"Uh..."

Just a few sentences and Rorschach was left speechless.

"What brings you here?" Dr. Kureha asked, cutting straight to the point. She was curious why the Golden Lion’s disciple had co. Did he have so incurable disease?

Rorschach wasn’t surprised that this 139-year-old woman knew Shiki. On the contrary, it would have been strange if soone who had lived this long hadn’t heard of him.

"Ahem. It’s like this — the doctor on my ship has excellent dical talent, but ordinary dical books are no longer enough for her to improve."

"I’d like to purchase your dical notes, Dr. Kureha. If possible, I’d also appreciate any guidance you can give," Rorschach said respectfully, bowing slightly. He always showed respect to doctors, especially one who seed to have been an old acquaintance of Shiki.

This old woman had probably been the famous doctor Shiki visited because of the rudder on his head.

Dr. Kureha looked at the petite, adorable Kaya beside him. The girl gave a polite bow and a gentle smile.

"Hm, quite a polite little girl."

"One hundred million berries. Pay now and you can co in," she said, naming a small fortune right away.

Rorschach glanced at Kaya and, without hesitation, took out 100 million berries from his storage space and handed them over.

"Oh~ You’re pretty rich, kid. You handed over 100 million berries without blinking. You must really care about this little girl," Dr. Kureha said, bouncing the stack of 10,000 berry bills in her hand.

"Little girl, you better hold on tight, or soone might steal you away," Dr. Kureha teased. She casually stuffed the money into her pocket while Kaya’s cheeks turned red.

"Follow ."

She easily lifted the box containing 100 million berries, looking nothing like a 139-year-old woman.

Looks like this old lady is quite strong too, Rorschach thought.

As soon as they entered, Rorschach spotted Chopper at the end of the hallway.

Chopper was peeking out with most of his body and half his face showing, thinking he was well hidden.

But Rorschach noticed him the mont they walked in, scaring Chopper into dashing back into the study.

Dr. Kureha covered her face in exasperation.

"What is that little guy doing?"

"Hehe, Mr. Reindeer looks pretty cute," Kaya said, covering her mouth with a smile. If Chopper had heard her, he definitely would have shouted in anger.

"Hee hee."

Dr. Kureha didn’t correct Kaya’s way of addressing him. She simply led the two into the study.

The mont the door opened, Chopper had already hidden behind a cabinet, silently watching Rorschach and Kaya.

However, Chopper’s hiding skills were terrible.

"Chopper, bring all the dical notes I’ve recorded," Dr. Kureha ordered.

"Yes, Dr. Kureha!" Chopper imdiately stood at attention and saluted, completely changing from his earlier timid behavior.

He quickly searched the shelves, and soon over twenty books were piled on the floor.

"Dr. Kureha, here are all the dical books," Chopper said happily.

"How about it? Chopper looks pretty good, right? He’s my disciple who inherited my dical skills. Want to take him with you on your ship?" Dr. Kureha asked, suddenly getting an idea as she looked at the cheerful Chopper.

"Dr. Kureha, what are you saying?! I’m not going on a ship with other humans!" Chopper suddenly looked at Rorschach and Kaya with disgust.

Rorschach shrugged. Chopper still hated humans at this stage. He didn’t have Luffy’s charm, and he didn’t need Chopper on his crew anyway.

"Look, I already have the adorable Kaya-chan on my ship. If he really wants to go to sea, there will definitely be soone who truly wants to invite him aboard in the future."

"That’s true. Looks like my plan to get rid of this troubleso reindeer fell through again."

"Dr. Kureha, that’s so an!" Chopper cried out with a pitiful face.

"Alright, since I’ve achieved my goal, we’ll take our leave," Rorschach and Kaya picked up the dical books, bowed politely, and headed toward the exit.
