Chapter 191
"It is said that only by deciphering all four Road Poneglyphs can one reach the final island, Laugh Tale. Rorschach, have you already decided to beco the Pirate King? Is that why you suddenly challenged the established Four Emperors in the newspapers?"
Jinbe shared his thoughts, then suddenly looked at Rorschach in surprise, as if sothing had just clicked in his mind.
Now he understood why the news reported that Rorschach intended to challenge the veteran Four Emperors. It had to be connected to the Poneglyphs.
"Well, that’s part of the reason," Rorschach replied. "But more than that... both the Four Emperors and the World Governnt are standing in my way. I plan to beco the King of the World."
"This chaotic era will one day be brought to an end by . Under my rule, the world will move forward in a completely new direction."
Confidence, arrogance, and firm resolve shone in Rorschach’s eyes, as if this outco was already certain.
"Amazing! Lord Rorschach!"
Shirahoshi smiled and clapped her hands.
She believed Rorschach wasn’t lying, and she also believed he had the power to make it happen. At this mont, she was seriously considering whether she should accept his invitation from last night.
After all, fulfilling her mother’s final wish was her dream. She was willing to do whatever it took to achieve it — even if it ant going against her father.
With that thought, Shirahoshi’s gaze grew more determined. The usual timid, tearful expression on her face faded slightly, and sothing inside her had begun to change.
"By the way, these letters are completely unreadable. How are you supposed to decipher them, Rorschach?"
Camie walked up to the stone and touched its moss-covered surface, looking confused.
To her, the Poneglyph looked like nothing more than strange, aningless symbols.
"Hehe, this is where we bring out our crew’s number one historian — Miss Robin!"
"She’s currently the only person in the entire world known to be able to read the Poneglyphs!"
Rorschach proudly pushed Robin forward.
Everyone except Rorschach’s crew looked shocked, including Jinbe.
"The only person in the world who can read the Poneglyphs?! No wonder the World Governnt put a bounty of 79 million berries on Miss Robin when she was just a child and labeled her the ’Devil’s Child’."
"Now it all makes sense. The World Governnt strictly forbids civilians from studying the Void Century, which is why the infamous Ohara Incident happened. To think that the survivor, Miss Robin, is actually the only person alive who can read these texts."
Jinbe cald his surprised expression and began analyzing everything, finally connecting the dots.
"Eh? Big Sister Robin is actually this amazing?! I had no idea."
Camie and the rmaid girls were stunned.
To them, Robin had always seed like a calm and reliable big-sister type. They thought she was just the crew’s smart and composed mber — they never expected her to be an archaeologist.
Though, to be fair, Robin’s intelligence was indeed impressive.
"Hehe, it’s nothing that special. I’m just an ordinary archaeologist who happens to be able to read these letters."
Robin smiled lightly.
"By the way, why is the color of this Poneglyph different from the ones we’ve seen before? Was it corroded by seawater?"
Kalifa asked curiously.
All the Poneglyphs they had encountered before were pitch black, but this one had a slightly bluish tint.
"I’m not sure either. We’ll probably only understand once we properly read what’s written on it."
Robin slowly walked toward the Poneglyph.
She gently placed her hand on the ancient text and began deciphering the information carved into the stone.
Everyone watched her in complete silence.
After a long while, Robin finally turned around, her eyes filled with confusion.
"So? What does it say, Big Sister Robin?"
Nami asked softly.
"Rather than history... what’s written here is more like a letter of apology."
Robin answered, though she still looked puzzled.
"A letter of apology?" everyone asked at the sa ti, question marks practically floating above their heads.
"Yes. It’s a letter written by soone nad Joy Boy to a rmaid princess from eight hundred years ago," Robin said calmly.
"A rmaid princess?!"
Everyone’s eyes imdiately turned toward Shirahoshi.
They didn’t know anything about the rmaid princess from eight hundred years ago, but the current rmaid princess was standing right in front of them.
"What’s wrong, everyone? Don’t stare at like that... It’s scary."
Shirahoshi suddenly beca timid again, showing her usual "Scaredy-Shira" personality.
"No, it’s nothing. I was just wondering what the rmaid princess from eight hundred years ago was like... and why this Joy Boy would write an apology letter to her."
Nami shook her head. In her mind, she pictured a shadowy figure full of guilt apologizing to a rmaid who looked similar to Shirahoshi.
"It says that Joy Boy and the rmaid princess made so kind of promise, but in the end, he failed to fulfill it. That’s why he left this letter of apology here."
"However, without the information from the other Poneglyphs, I can’t figure out what exactly that promise was. We’ll probably only understand once we collect all of them."
Robin glanced back at the Poneglyph and let go of her doubts for now.
It was still too early. There were still many mysteries surrounding the Void Century. They could only slowly gather the information and head to Laugh Tale to uncover the full truth.
"I wonder what kind of secrets are hidden in these stones... It’s really exciting."
The corners of Robin’s lips curved into a faint smile as endless curiosity and anticipation rose in her heart.
