Chapter 153: Meihui’s Plan

Ye Jun was very curious about how the Lord’s power worked, mostly because he knew that damned entity would come after him for ruining his plans.

That was why he wondered if the entity used the Metaphysical Plane. From the manuals, he guessed that the plane wasn’t easily manipulated to one’s wishes.

They would have to have a high Cultivation Base. Maybe that was why the White Gale Pavilion was so worried. Anyone capable of messing with it from far away wasn’t something they could handle.

’Or maybe they can.’

All he knew was that the Pavilion Master was a Sky Realm powerhouse, an entire realm above the Earth Realm, which was above the Origin Realm.

Below the Origin Realm was the Soul Tempering Realm, the one he was trying to advance to.

’So many realms. I’m basically at the bottom. Fucking hell!’ he groaned.

The Sky Realm was the sixth major realm of the Dao, while the Qi Condensation Realm was the second. The difference was massive.

’There is also the Ruler Realm above the Sky Realm.’

And he was sure there was more.

’What else would you expect from a Cultivation world?’

He had no clue about the Origin Realm, same with the Earth and Sky Realms, so it was possible that the Pavilion Master knew more about the Lord and his powers.

’Still, it is a clue, so I’ll remember it.’

He focused back on the manuals and continued reading on how to perform the Soul Transformation.

Once one managed to sense and enter the Metaphysical Plane, they would have to locate the Nexus of their being and merge it with their Essence in the Metaphysical Plane.

It was easier said than done. The process itself was very difficult, as many couldn’t even locate it. Even if they did, they would have to face a few trials produced by their own nexus during the transfer.

The metaphysical plane and the Heavenly Tribulations powered it. The first wanted the Nexus to assimilate into itself, and the second wanted to test if he was worthy enough.

’What are the trials?’

After he read the manuals from both Meihui and He Wenxin, he leaned back and rubbed his eyes, ’This is going to be problematic.’

The trials were personal and different for everyone. The reason was that the trials were produced by the Nexus, which meant everything came from his own experiences or things he was connected to.

Meihui told him that he should be prepared to face old memories, especially the ones he wanted to forget. The Nexus used them either to lull him into the comfort of the past or destroy him mentally.

In either case, the goal was to weaken his Will, which would make the Nexus assimilate with the Metaphysical Plane. With the Nexus lost, one would lose the very thing representing their Essence, so it was no different than death.

As if that wasn’t enough, he would also be faced with trials generated by his Affinities, as the Dao also wanted to test him. If he failed, he would die in the worst-case scenario, or be injured heavily in the best-case scenario. But if he passed, his Affinity would increase by a large margin.

All of this made the Soul Tempering Realm one of the most important realms of all. Attaining the Origin Realm and Earth Realm was supposed to be easier but less impactful in comparison.

If one failed the ascension, they would either die or end up in a very bad state. But if they passed, they would gain a strong Soul, another pillar of their foundation.

The strength of one’s Soul depended on how well they performed in the trials and how strong the trials were. But that was what made Ye Jun worried and excited at the same time.

’Ah! I’ll be damned!’

Unlike others, he had seven Affinities, which meant he would have to face a total of eight trials along with the memory one. And things didn’t end there, as there was an additional trial that tested his mastery over techniques, though that one was supposed to be the easiest.

He was worried for obvious reasons, as he had very high chances of failure. But that was exactly why he was excited. If he managed to succeed, then he would have a ridiculously strong Soul.

A strong foundation always meant better future potential.

’Such a dilemma.’

But he knew it wasn’t really a dilemma. He only had a single path forward, so even if it meant death, there was no option of giving up. The only question was when he should attempt it.

’I better read everything again just to not miss anything.’

Ye Jun spent the next few hours reading and understanding everything. That was when he realised just how much effort Meihui had actually put into creating the manual. It was no less than He Wenxin’s.

The more he read, the more details he found, which made him wonder if he truly understood everything or not.

It was night when he finally stopped, knowing that he hadn’t missed anything. Then, he spent the next few hours trying to understand his Mysterious Techniques more. He didn’t try to improve them. Rather, he spent his time going through the basics once again without missing anything.

Just like that, another week passed in his seclusion.

During it, he barely Cultivated, since every second of his time went into relearning the basics. He was completely immersed in it, unaware of the passage of time.

When he finally stopped, he had completed the revision of his Mysterious Techniques and other skills, including the passive ones, two times.

He exhaled deeply, feeling exhausted beyond belief. One week of no water, no food, and no rest had exhausted him physically and mentally. His body screamed at him, as it had been sustaining on nothing but Qi. Even that was sparse since he wasn’t Cultivating manually, so his reserves were replenishing naturally, which took time.

’I did it!’

Still, he felt incredibly happy with the results. Now, he was sure that this one trial wouldn’t pose any challenge to him. After all, he had also followed Meihui’s advice in revising everything, and it had worked for her.

Apparently, it was a method her family used, and not everyone knew about it. There were some hidden parts that he had to follow too. Only then could he succeed.

Ye Jun ran his fingers through his long black hair and laughed, "Ah! The feeling of progress. I can never get used to this."

At that exact moment, his stomach growled in protest as he clicked his tongue, "Bad timing, lil bro. But don’t worry, I plan to feed you the best food there is in the sect. You deserve it."

He checked outside and realised it was still night, so he first started Cultivating to replenish his Qi reserves. They were so dry that his Dantian looked like a drought-stricken farmland.

A few hours were all it took to fill his Nine Qi Vortices again. Once they were formed, they wouldn’t disappear, only refill.

In the morning, he went to take a relaxing bath in the hot springs and spent no less than an hour there. His muscles relaxed, feeling much better after the week-long strain.

Only when his stomach protested again did he sigh and get out of the hot spring. Donning new robes, which were also suited for battle, he sheathed the Ember Sword at his side and styled his hair.

Then, he left his abode and headed down the mountain.

’I wonder how that guy is doing. It’s been months since we even contacted each other.’

One thing he liked about Mountain was that the man was very selective about his choice of friends, and once he chose you as his friend, he wouldn’t forget you even if you spent months without interacting with him.

Ye Jun liked their relationship this way, since he didn’t think he could talk to someone on a daily basis. That wasn’t his style, so he actually appreciated Mountain, who stood by his side even though they rarely met.

’I lucked out there.’

His plan was quite simple. He wanted to taste his delicious food one last time before attempting the ascension to the Soul Tempering Realm.

Although he was quite confident in succeeding, he still felt he should eat something good before challenging death. A full belly could give him extra mental energy.

Yes, he had already decided to perform the ascension soon.

Before that, though, he planned to challenge a few Soul Tempering Realm Cultivators and see if they would drop some Soul Attributes, and if they did, how those attributes would react to the overall Soul Transformation process.

...Unfortunately, his plan fell apart very soon.

"The hell! Are you sure?"

The man before him nodded and said, "You can’t challenge them, as they are out on a sect mission. It’s a special case where they wouldn’t lose their ranks either."
