Chapter 18: Learning The Mysterious Techniques
The training grounds were fun as always. In fact, Ye Jun enjoyed them even more since the Elder overseeing the training of the younger generation silently approved of his thods.
After all, the teenagers trained harder due to his mocking words.
’Anger does wonders and brings your potential out,’ he smiled. ’You all should really call
a saint. I’m so helpful toward you despite you being such pathetic bitches.’
Of course, he didn’t say it out loud, otherwise every single one of them would beat him to no end. There was a limit to their endurance, and Ye Jun knew where to poke to bring their best out.
"A productive day!" Ye Jun breathed in the fresh air after coming out of the training grounds.
Although he didn’t advance to the Seventh-Stage yet, he was still happy with the progress. There were few people with a cultivation base around the Sixth-Stage, so the attributes had grown a lot fewer, and he had also realized that it took more attributes to advance to the next stage.
For now, the change wasn’t huge, but he knew it would be significant in the later realms. That ant he would have to collect even more attributes from people of a similar realm.
’I will need to find a better way. Perhaps I really need to enter the wilderness to fight so Spiritual Beasts. If they drop attributes, then I can farm faster, considering there is already a rivalry between the Spiritual Beasts and humans.’
He wondered if killing would drop more attributes than simply farming them in his current way. If that was the case, then he needed to go on a hunting spree.
’Better gear myself up first. I’m weak with nothing in my arsenal.’
With that in mind, he went back to his hut and, fortunately, no one obstructed him. Entering the boundary of his hut, he checked on ihui, who was still in her ditation.
’That’s good. The faster she heals, the better it is for ,’ he thought. ’Ti to focus on myself then.’
He went to the center of his courtyard and looked at his status, which showed nine Mysterious Techniques he had collected from the underground arena.
’They are useless.’
Most of them were Low-Grade Yellow Rank Mysterious Techniques with little proficiency. Even if he tried to master them, it wouldn’t amount to much.
’Considering I can just collect even more of them, focusing on higher-rank ones is way better. It’s not like I can farm their attributes, so I’ll have to raise their proficiency by practicing myself. And I have little ti on my hands.’
Thinking of that, he eliminated six of them, leaving three Middle-Grade Yellow Rank Mysterious Techniques. They were the best he had for now.
’Wait! This works too?’

Apparently, the system sensed his intentions and hid the techniques he didn’t want to use from showing on his status. It would be a ss if it showed everything he picked up.
’This is good. Ti to practice the techniques.’
He closed his eyes and went through the knowledge of the techniques. Along with attributes ca the knowledge of techniques. The higher his proficiency, the more knowledge he would get, and his physique adapted to it.
It was as if he had been practicing those techniques for quite so ti and knew them by instinct. It was a strange feeling to have sothing foreign inside your head which also felt so familiar.
But then again, he had a different soul assimilated into his, bringing mories that were foreign yet felt like his own.
Crushing Mountain Fist gave short-range explosive power, and it relied on leg drive and core strength.
Stone Step Footwork was a movent technique ant to teach grounded stepping patterns that stabilized the lower body. aning, he could remain stable even when struck hard and perform complex attacks while staying balanced.
On the other hand, Coiled Tendon Strike was a combat technique that focused power into tendons and joints before release.
’It’s similar to Crushing Mountain Fist, as both give explosive power at short range. But their chanisms are different. Interesting.’
He went through them once again before he started practicing the Stone Step Footwork. There were many postures, including many footsteps in multiple angles, to train the body properly.
Ye Jun spent the next hour constantly practicing the Stone Step Footwork again and again. All forms of it slowly ingrained themselves into his mind and body.
Then another hour passed without any break.
- Stone Step Footwork (10%)
’Damn! This is easier than I imagined.’ Ye Jun smiled, looking at his status.
He took short breaks in between and was thoroughly happy with his progress. Perhaps it was because he was already pretty good in martial arts in his previous life, not to ntion the previous Ye Jun also practiced a lot.
’Or maybe my talent is just good. Even previously I could learn things faster than others.’
That was the whole reason his Boss had picked him and made him the infamous assassin nad Weaver.
Ye Jun shook his head and spent the rest of the day practicing the three Mysterious Techniques. Power alone wasn’t important. He needed a way to channel that power in the best way, so these techniques helped with that.
By the ti the sun disappeared from the city, Ye Jun was left covered in his own sweat and aching muscles. Especially his leg muscles, which felt like they were burning from the inside.
’Aghh! This feels familiar.’
Shaking his head, he entered the hut and found ihui still deep in ditation. Not bothering her, he took so clothes and went to the rcy River to clean himself.
He hated being covered in sweat.
When he ca back completely refreshed and opened the door, his body froze as an unexpected sight awaited him. A table full of food, including delicious at and rice made not long ago.
And before it sat ihui with a smile on her beautiful face.
"Good work. You must be tired after all the training, so I took the liberty of making our dinner."
