Chapter 149: Sun Tianlan
Ye Jun was satisfied with the rewards, but Han Yuexin also gave him one more thing. Or rather, the Sect gave him. It wasn’t for the Greywood Village incident, but because of his talent.
She told him that the Sect would give him suitable conditions prepared whenever he tried to advance to the Soul Tempering Realm.
After all, they didn’t get geniuses like him every year. In fact, it had been more than a decade since anyone achieved Soul Tempering Realm before the age of twenty.
Because of this, they were ready to pour resources into him so he successfully advanced and entered the Heavenly Frost Palace. With this, the Palace would invest in White Gale Pavilion more in return.
’Hiding all the ti doesn’t work. Show them enough and they will invest in you, otherwise you’ll just be a random disciple everyone will step on.’
Of course, he knew the opposite was also true. If he showed them too much, things might change, especially since he would be targeted by other forces.
Currently, he was a genius in their eyes, but still not enough to trigger major actions.
Han Yuexin also told him that before entering the Heavenly Frost Palace, he would have access to the main Domain left behind by the Founder of White Gale Pavilion.
If his comprehension was good, he could comprehend many things from it and advance in leaps and bounds. After all, the Domain belonged to a Ruler Realm Cultivator, so even after years it contained insights.
That was the greatest surprise to him, but still a pleasant one. The Sect was doing its best to groom him, so he could achieve even more inside the Heavenly Frost Palace.
The better he was, the more Heavenly Frost Palace would favour the White Gale Pavilion.
’It is all politics in the end.’
After giving him everything, Han Yuexin kicked him out so he directly went to the training grounds. As always, the Falcon Fields were brimming with disciples, with so new additions too.
Elders often recruited talents they liked too.
He leisurely walked towards the centre arena, catching everyone’s attention as they began to whisper to each other. He beca quite famous after his maddening stream of duels, so now that he was walking towards the arena, they began to make assumptions.
Ye Jun didn’t mind it. In fact, he even smiled at them and nodded, making their eyes shine. They hurried to tell their friends. There was no way they were going to miss his duels.
They were curious how much he improved after more than a month of absence.
’Good, spread the word!’
With a quick jump, he soared into the sky and landed gracefully on the centre arena. Then, looking over the slowly forming crowd, he smiled and said,
"I have returned. And I am going to continue my challenges. My first challenge is for the Ranked 200th, Sun Tianlan."
The disciples were quite familiar with the na, as she had defeated Ye Jun two tis already. The fact that he challenged her again made them excited, as they wondered if he was finally going to defeat her or if she would destroy his arrogance.
Words spread quicker than a wildfire, reaching many disciples who ranked higher than Sun Tianlan, so even in the Top Hundred, and even the Elders got wind of it.
Ye Jun lay down on the arena floor, completely relaxed. He stared at the clear blue sky before closing his eyes. It would take so ti before Sun Tianlan would co.
Or so he expected at least, so it didn’t take long before he fell asleep.
The crowd around the arena watched him with dumbfounded expressions, refusing to believe their eyes.
"He... he didn’t just go to sleep, right?"
"N-No. Surely, he’s just ditating."
"Idiot! Have you ever seen soone ditating like that?"
"He’s a bit of a weirdo, you know. Who knows, maybe that is his way of ditation."
"...I hate that you might be right."
"Are you two looking for a beating? How dare you slander my husband like that?"
"Husband? As in Ye Jun? Pfftttt! You’re the fattest thing I’ve ever seen in my life, and mind you, I’ve even seen the Torrental Mountains."
"Haha! And don’t forget his wife is none other than Song Liangxue. You think you can compete with her? What a joke!"
"Fattest thing, huh."
"W-Wait! Where are you dragging !?"
"...."
"Did these two really think they can survive after insulting her like that?"
"Ignore the idiots. They’re as good as dead, anyways. Good thing. The world would have fewer useless things walking on land."
Oblivious to everything around him, Ye Jun had a nice nap... until his body rolled over on instinct. Opening his eyes, he found a fuming young woman standing not far from him, her leg on his previous spot.
"You’ve got so nerve to insult
like this," Sun Tianlan gritted her teeth in anger. "You slept before our duel!"
"My bad, I didn’t an to insult you," Ye Jun said sincerely, dusting off his clothes. "I thought you’ll take so ti..."
Sun Tianlan snorted, but didn’t say anything more. She could sense that Ye Jun was honest with her and also respected her, which was quite rare considering he was famous for angering his opponents to death.
And she wasn’t wrong. She was one of the people Ye Jun respected in this sect. All because she worked very hard and gave her all in every battle, learning from them.
Even when she won against him, she wouldn’t get too happy over it. Instead, she would analyse the battle and improve herself. He had seen it clearly while fighting her.
He glanced to his side where an Elder was already present to oversee their duel. He greeted him and then turned towards Sun Tianlan.
She was a tall young woman with a slender build, short hair making her stand out among the won. But what truly earned others’ attention in her was the fact she was a Sword Genius.
She was only twenty-two years old, with deep mastery in the Dao of Sword. In no ti, she could advance to the Soul Tempering Realm and enter the top rankings simply because of her terrifying combat prowess.
He clasped his hands and bowed slightly, "Let’s have a fun duel."
She returned the gesture and said, "I will not hold back."
"Neither do I want you to," Ye Jun smiled.
They both got into their positions, so did the crowd who had grown considerably big to watch the duel between two Geniuses. Ye Jun lost previous battles, but now he ca to challenge again after quite so ti.
They were excited for the battle and its outco.
The Elder glanced at both of them before withdrawing, "Start!"
They didn’t attack imdiately, and simply observed each other with hands on their sheathed swords’ hilts.
"I see you bought a new sword," Sun Tianlan comnted. "And your aura has also beco very dangerous."
Learning from his past mistakes, Ye Jun unsheathed the sword first and answered, "Can’t fight you without a proper weapon."
She stared at his Ember Sword for a second before nodding in satisfaction, "It’s a good sword. Congratulations."
"Thanks," Ye Jun smiled and said. "You’ve also reached Ninth-Stage Qi Condensation Realm, right?"
"All thanks to you," Sun Tianlan replied, her grip on the hilt increasing by every second. "Our duels gave
insights. I appreciate that."
"Well then, I’m ready to give more insights."
Just as those words left his mouth, the atmosphere changed and before he knew it, a sharp blade was right beside his neck. However, he didn’t dodge like previous tis. Instead, he raised his sword and held against the attack for a second, which allowed him to retreat a few steps.
"Falling Star Draw!" He muttered. "Still as impressive as ever. I really hope to learn this from you."
"You can try," Sun Tianlan said before her figure dissolved into water, or at least it seed that way because of how fluid her movents were.
Cold River Steps.
Ye Jun also didn’t hold back and used Ashen Phantom Steps to counter her movent technique. They went from one place to another, as if they were dancing instead of dueling.
At least, that was how the crowd perceived them and only saw the tal clashing against each other, sending sparks flying around.
Ye Jun took a step back, sensing another attack heading his way and focused on his opponent. All of a sudden, her sword seed to split into seven parts as she attacked him with all seven.
In just a single second, she tried to cut him from seven different angles. It even gave the illusion of seven swords manifesting around her, making it hard to differentiate between the attacks.
Unfortunately, all of them were real attacks.
Ye Jun recognised the Mysterious Technique imdiately.
