Chapter 315: Endless Regret, Breakthrough to Higher Deity

“He’s too powerful!”
“Where exactly did that guy co from? Why is he so strong?”
“What should we do now?”
Puhaman, Thaniel, Galen, and the others’ hearts were heavy as they watched the battle taking place in the sky. In fact, despair was even starting to co over them.
Not only did the other party move at lightning-quick speed, but he even had incredible reflexes. Even their master’s specialty move, the Netherworld Divine Fire, had no effect on him. How was ng Lei supposed to fight him?
“A higher deity! He must be a higher deity! Only higher deities can play Master like a fool!”
“A higher deity?!”
A huge jolt went through all of them.
Higher deities were existences that stood at the pinnacle of the deities. They were undoubtedly extrely powerful even in the vast Void, let alone in a low-end existential plane like Heaven’s Vault Continent.
A higher deity descending upon Heaven’s Vault Continent was just like special forces soldiers descending upon a nursery school. It was no different from a tiger going into a herd of sheep—practically a disaster!
“Everyone, we cannot just sit around and wait for death to befall us!”
Puhaman sounded grave as he said, “Once sothing untoward happens to Master, none of us will survive, either!”
His words instilled a sense of fearful anxiety in everyone. They rose into the air, intending to attack and assist ng Lei, but a sudden turn of events unexpectedly took place at this point.
Boom!
As though a hydrogen bomb was going off, an incredibly violent and raging aura suddenly erupted from ng Lei. It instantly engulfed the area and swept through the surroundings.
“That’s...”
Everyone turned to ng Lei with expressions of shock and astonishnt.
Boom, boom, boom!
As though he had been injected with steroids, the aura around ng Lei rose and intensified sharply and furiously. Within the span of a few breaths, it had reached an incredibly fearso state.
Vast, majestic divine power spread from ng Lei into the surroundings, forming all-reaching energy waves that brazenly swept across all directions with a crushing montum.
“M-Master has... has broken through again?”
“L-looks like it!”
“How long has it only been since the last ti Master had broken through?”
There was a very exciting range of expressions on Puhaman and the others’ faces. Shock, horror, elation, astoundnt, agitation, disbelief... Various complex emotions welled up within them.
“He’s actually made a breakthrough in the midst of battle?”
The Beast God and the Titan Spiritual God exchanged a look, both seeing the alarm and horror in each other’s eyes.
Despite having guessed that ng Lei might break through to beco a higher deity before they would, never would they have ever expected him to break through right away!
Just how goddamn *beep* was that?
“A monster! That guy is a total monster!”
The Titan Spiritual God exclaid, “How long has it only been since he had deified? Yet he’s already breaking through into a higher deity?”
“He’s no monster! The huge secret on him is the true monster instead!”
The Beast God was terribly filled with regret. He said, “Had we known of the secret on him earlier, we would be the ones becoming higher deities now and not him!”
A look of frustration and indignation also surfaced on the Titan Spiritual God’s countenance. Indeed, if they had known about the secret on ng Lei just a bit earlier and killed him when he was still weak and powerless, how would things have co to such a pass?
“O great Titan Chief God, what exactly have I missed out on?”
...
“A h-higher deity! He’s actually broken through to beco a higher deity!”
The Dragon God also looked shocked and horrified. Before he had descended upon Heaven’s Vault Continent, he had fantasized and dread about various ways to kill ng Lei, avenge himself, and erase all the humiliation he had suffered in the past.
But no matter how he fantasized, he had never once imagined the scenario currently taking place in front of him—ng Lei had actually broken through in the midst of battle!
Oh my goodness!
A higher deity! That was a supre stage that he didn’t even dare to dream of!
Yet a human whom he saw as weak, powerless, lowly, and cheap had actually broken through to beco a higher deity right before his eyes!
How ironic was that?
And how infuriating was that?
“The Tower of Ti! He must have used the treasures in the Tower of Ti! That’s the only way he could’ve broken through to beco a higher deity in such a short ti!”
The Dragon God was completely consud by regret and jealousy. Unlike the Beast God and the Titan Spiritual God, he had once occupied the Tower of Ti for a period of ti that lasted as long as tens of thousands of years.
Tens of thousands of years!
What a long period of ti!
He’d totally had the chance to gain the Tower of Ti’s acknowledgnt and inherit everything that the God of Ti had owned!
That way, the one standing here and showing off today would have been him and not ng Lei!
And yet...
He hadn’t gained the Tower of Ti’s acknowledgnt. Instead, he could only watch helplessly as the supre treasure fell into ng Lei’s hands and watch helplessly again as ng Lei beca a higher deity ahead of him.
Such regret!
Such indignation!
Such fury!
His emotions were far beyond what the Beast God’s and the Titan Spiritual God’s could compare to.
It was just a sha that there was no cure for regrets in this world and no ‘if’s to speak of. It was too late to say anything anymore.
...
“He’s actually made a breakthrough in the midst of battle!”
The black-robed middle-aged man was just as startled as the others.
The deification journey was filled with obstacles at every step. From a true god to a lesser deity; from a lesser deity to an interdiate deity; from an interdiate deity to a higher deity—every step required a long amount of ti, and every step required vast amounts of accumulation.
It wasn’t sothing that one could break through anyti they wanted.
Breaking through in the midst of battle?
That was sothing that existed only in fairytales and legends!
Yet a lowly native born in a low-end existential plane had actually broken through to beco a higher deity in the midst of battle right under his nose!
This was practically a fantasy story!
The black-robed middle-aged man’s eyes flickered as he thought to himself, “The Tower of Ti! It must be the Tower of Ti!”
The system’s Super Enhancent didn’t last very long before it ended. A sense of realization welled up in ng Lei as he took in the changes in his now-entirely different divine body.
“No wonder my divine body simply couldn’t break through even though I had devoured so much life essence!
“No wonder I still needed to spend a whole 3 million Divinity Crystals to use Super Enhancent even though my divine body was already infinitely close to becoming a higher deity’s!
“No wonder the Netherworld Divine Fire that had never once failed in the past was useless on him!
“All of this is because the gap between an interdiate deity and a higher deity... is simply too great!”
ng Lei let out a long sigh. An interdiate deity was ultimately still just an interdiate deity. Even if they were at the limits of interdiate deity-level, they were still no higher deity.
“Be it power, speed, endurance, agility, or defense, they are really as different as night and day. There’s no way of comparing them in the sa vein at all!”
To sum it up—the difference was really too vast!
ng Lei looked at the black-robed middle-aged man and said leisurely, “You’ve just caused to suffer a loss of 3 million Divinity Crystals. I’ll have to make you fork out that sum of money now!”
“You’ve actually broken through!”
The black-robed middle-aged man’s countenance gradually turned icy. He said, “But do you think you can contend against just because of that? Let show you that class stratifications exist even among higher deities!”
Whoosh!
His cold and aloof voice was still echoing in the air, but the black-robed middle-aged man had already disappeared from the sky. An instant later, he had already charged right up to ng Lei.
His palm struck ng Lei squarely on the chest with just a casual smack. As though a launched cannon, ng Lei was sent flying right away.
Whoosh!
The black-robed middle-aged man didn’t let ng Lei off even after successfully landing his attack. He showed up bizarrely behind ng Lei and punched him right on his back.
Bam!
ng Lei was sent flying again.
Whoosh!
In the short while that followed, the black-robed middle-aged man attacked continuously. Like a phantom, he appeared and disappeared suddenly, showing up here one mont and there the next.
ng Lei was completely rendered a punching bag. Fully suppressed by the other party, it seed like he still had no ans of retaliation at all?
