Chapter 83: Five Million?
“So, the person you like is Phantom Kid?”
After helping Mathison clean up, Barbara asked affirmatively.
Before getting along, Pala has told Barbara her story. Barbara naturally knew who was the person who saved Pala from the abyss.
“Kid, hmm… he rarely does sothing this good.”
Looking at Pala’s lonely expression, Barbara felt a bit sympathetic towards her.
She is not the sa as the group of fans who like Kid. She is truly caught in the web of love. This is an emotion that only a woman would understand.
“No one knows the true nature of Phantom Kid. Plus, he is a very sneaky person, and it is so difficult to et him. Being in love with such a person, you must be very sad.”
“Actually, it’s okay, at least I don’t regret my choice.”
Pala put away her low mood and said with a strong smile.
“If you ask , that thief who stole your heart should be responsible for it… but he has to realize first that his actions are a deford way to bring justice.”
Barbara clenched her fist and said.
“I do not think that Phantom Kid’s justice is deford.”
Pala replied with a frown as soon as Barbara finished her sentence.
“Ahem… I think that this topic is a little too heavy, it is better if we change it.”
Mathison coughed lightly, trying to stop the two won from continuing their discussion further.
“That’s right, talking to you guys about this must affect your mood, sorry.”
Pala said apologetically.
“Don’t say that, Pala. I’m the one who shouldn’t have brought up this topic.”
Then, the three of them finished their lunch in silence.
“The cafeteria at NYU is not bad, right, just a little bit more expensive than the one in Gotham University.”
Pala comnted with a smile.
“Well, but the cheeseburger patty is also a little thicker than at Gotham University.”
Barbara nodded, then turned to Pala after glancing eagerly at Mathison.
“You should try Mathison’s cooking. He’s the best at making Chinese food, and many tis I can’t help but think there’s no food in the world better than what he cooks.”
“Is that so? I must try it if I have the chance, assuming that Mathison is willing to cook for a woman other than you.”
Pala marveled, in Arica, it is a miracle to find a young man able to cook. In fact, girls cook way more, but sotis they would rather order pizza or go to a fast-food restaurant.
“Pala!!”
Barbara interrupted her with a red face, and while Pala was looking at her, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Hey, Barbara, you’re too shy, that’s not how an Arican girl should behave.”
Pala looked at Barbara with a look as if to tell her that she should be more competitive.
“We have a long day ahead of us, shouldn’t we think about where to go?”
Barbara ignored Pala’s looks and changed the subject.
“Mathison, what do you think, don’t always sit there speechlessly”
“I think it’s okay. We are only in New York occasionally, we should really have so good ti. Only that we can’t afford to spend too much.”
Mathison agreed.
“Well, then let , as a schoolmate, be your guide.”
Pala lifted the red hair around her ear and said.
So, under the guidance of Pala, the three of them strolled around many places in Manhattan Island, such as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and so on.
In fact, Mathison has long strolled through it.
Pala took really good care of her hotown students, picking the location of all the famous attractions, while the expenses were not even high, or sotis were even free.
And so, the nightfall arrived.
The chosen place was in Queens, a very famous steakhouse, and the price was very affordable.
After all, the per capita spending in Manhattan is too high.
After dinner, Pala wanted to go straight back to school, but Barbara felt a bit underwheld.
The sa goes for Mathison, except that he kept his mouth shut.
With the company of two beautiful won, whatever activities you do will make you feel good.
“Not far from here is Roosevelt Island. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park is a great setting, just right for an evening breeze.”
Pala said after thinking about the nearby attractions.
“Let’s just go there for a stroll, and then go back to school afterwards, by then it’s just about ti for Mathison to go tutoring.”
It was kind of interesting to think that Pala would rember the ti that Mathison ntioned before
“Well, it’s still about two hours away, so you should be on ti, right?”
Barbara asked, looking at Mathison.
“Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of ti.”
Mathison gestured to her to put her mind at ease.
Then, several people walked toward Roosevelt Park.
Roosevelt Island is an important location connecting Manhattan Island, Queens, and Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park. It is located at the southern end of this long narrow island.
The three, including Mathison, walked on the road and passed the subway station.
A mile or so further on would lead them to the park gates.
A rather strange point is that this point is not particularly late, but there is basically no one on the street, and the further you go towards the park, the more obvious it becos.
When almost at the park gate, Pala suddenly paused for a split second before continuing on, and her steps were noticeably faster than before.
“Pala, are you not feeling well?”
Barbara asked worriedly.
“I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Pala smiled gently as she told Barbara so.
Only Mathison noticed that Pala’s face beca very dark and ugly for a mont, but it quickly returned to normal.
Mathison’s eyes narrowed slightly. He knew that things were not as simple as Barabara thought.
He did not feel malice in Pala’s body, indicating that the hostility she unconsciously erupted just now was not directed at him or Barbara.
Then because of whom?
Thinking of the strange absence of people near Roosevelt Park again, Mathison raised his guard.
Especially when they saw that “construction ahead, no entry” sign was put on the entrance to the park, things beca even more interesting.
“Are there regulations prohibiting visitors from entering the park during construction?”
At this mont, Barbara also sensed that sothing was wrong.
Besides, there was no sound of construction coming from the park.
“Pala, Mathison, it looks like we’re not having much luck, why don’t you guys leave first? I’ll just stroll around Roosevelt Island by myself, you all have your business, no need to accompany together.”
Mathison took Barbara’s hand and smiled, “Since we’re all here, it’s better to move together.”
Pala: “…”
“Don’t run! Stop!”
Suddenly, a shout ca out from the park.
Mathison and Barbara looked at each other and tacitly rushed in at the sa ti.
Then, they saw a man in black was running towards here at speed, holding a sharp weapon in his hand.
And behind the man in black were three n in green trench coats in pursuit.
Mathison recognized them, the sa ones who ran out of Mo’s dojo that day.
“Those in front, catch that man in black, you can get five million!”
