A sudden sound made Raynare whip around, alert.
She had put up a barrier in the area. Kuoh City was under the Gremory family's protection, especially that red-haired princess of destruction. Raynare didn't care too much about her, but interference would be a pain.
What puzzled her was that the thing approaching was just a small animal.
A snow-white creature, like a cross between a fox and a dog...

She lunged, spear of light aid at Ren's chest. The air thundered as she attacked.

But just before it struck, he raised a single finger.
Raynare smirked arrogantly.
Then — boom.
Her spear shattered on impact with Ren's finger, like fireworks exploding in the sky.
Not even a scratch.
"Impossible!"
Her smile froze. She couldn't even sense any magic from him — yet he blocked her attack? How?
Fou yawned lazily. Even it had more power than her now.
Its century-old magic had been used to revive soone obliterated by a holy light weapon — and even restored a short-lived artificial human into a normal one. This wasn't so basic resurrection...
Without a word, Ren grabbed Raynare by the throat.
She thrashed wildly, but it was useless.
In the face of death, she realized she'd ssed with the wrong person.
"I was wrong! Please, my lord, I'm sorry! I'll give you anything! Please spare !"
"Anything?"
Ren's eyes scanned her curvy figure.
Raynare hesitated, then quickly nodded.
"Yes, anything you want! Even... this body... Just please don't kill !"
All she wanted was to survive.
Ren rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Perfect. You'll do nicely for an experint..."
