770: Operation Arid Soil : Part Eigthy-One 770: Operation Arid Soil : Part Eigthy-One Sothing was wrong with Cleansing Undeviginti, the youngest of the divine suns which ruled over the desert, ruled over the entire realm- It was not life the previous tis, not only had it manifested much faster than in every other instance that had preceded this one, but the more ti passed, every few minutes or so, it would sohow grow even brighter, its already incinerated light growing warr still, livings had already collapsed to the ground due to heat strokes, and had been subsequently erased for moving too quickly to the star’s tastes.
A thin layer of glass was forming all over the desert, and it was causing a few rays of incandescent light to condense, focusing on a warrior, having caused the destruction of multiple undeads as the terrific light bore right through them, cutting off parts of their bodies and causing the murderous sun to erase them whole as even detached pieces were counted as movents for the entire individual.
It was clear that the cleansing one had evolved in so manner, perhaps acquiring an intellect closer to sapience since the last ti it had appeared.
In any case, the butchers, followers of Cleansing Undeviginti, were filled with power, though few could make proper use of it at the mont, as even they were bound by the rules if their patron sun, and could not move when caught in the white shine, though, so of them had managed to slay their opponents in the heat of the mont, as unlike others, who had rely sensed the arriving danger and frozen in place reflexively, they could more clearly when to stop moving exactly, and thus, plenty had been granted an easy kill as a result.
This had not been the case for ritites however, her sword was just barely digging into the enemy’s neck, a few twitch away for cutting into their jugular, dried blood covered the neck and shoulder of her would-be victim, both just standing in place, staring one another down in abject silence.
A gasp passed by them from the right, soone being vanquished by the light, whether an enemy or ally, neither of them could tell, the one ritites was cutting into hoped that it had not been an ally of theirs, whilst the butcher rely hoped that Cheops was alright, but she knew that it could not have been him that just died, he should still be in the city they had been invading.
They were part of a group that had been mostly made up of undead beasts, which ranged from simple dog-looking corpses, to abominable, cadaverous atrocities that required dozens of words to properly describe.
Though they had all seed uniquely adapted to an environnt like the desert, she was fairly certain to have spotted the bird-headed doctor pecking soone’s eyes out at one point or another as well… The defenders of this city had had it pretty bad when the assault started, in fact, Cleansing Undeviginti had probably helped them keep their lives for a little while longer.
As of now, ritites was feeling like her arms were about to fall off, having to stop mid-swing had forced her to remain still with both arms stretched out and with their muscles tensed up, having to keep a heavy executioner’s blade in place whilst enduring a most dreadful increase in temperature that was making it feel like her flesh was being cooked, and she could swear that that the sll of burnt hair was hanging in the air as well.
In short, this was a most gruelling experience, and with every second, her desire to tear the enemy that was standing right there grew stronger and stronger, and it seed like ritites bloodlust was spilling out as the enemy in turn was growing more and more nervous, they stayed still, but it was obvious in their eyes, there was fear.
‘Just you wait…’ anwhile Cheops rolled to the ground with an arm-bearer of Watchful Undeviginti, managing to gain the upper hand after slamming the man’s head against the wall of a house, dazing him enough to overpower the much bulkier opponent, The Ersta’la pushing his curved blade against his fellow living’s throat and cutting deeply into it.
He threw himself down right after as another defender of the city tried to bludgeon him in the face, only missing by a hair’s breadth and then being mauled and torn apart by a creature that resembled a mixture between a bear and gorilla, two animals Cheops didn’t even know about.
Despite being beasts and not actually talking like the other undeads, these creatures seed well aware of who was an ally and who was not, so they were clearly more intelligent that their feral behaviour and brutal killing thods implied, the temporary living soldiers were certainly happy to not be on the receiving end of such things, even if fighting alongside them wasn’t that great either.
‘Now… Where did ri go?
That girl, I swear… Rushing into the fray by herself… How am I supposed to help her if she leaves in the dust?’ if there was one thing that Cheops could criticise her for, it was that she got lost in excitent much too easily, be it about killing, or other matters… “You scum!
Don’t you think that-” he ignored the person rushing toward him as they swung at an illusion, and unknowingly ran directly under a portion of the sollock canopy that had been destroyed, incinerated by Cleansing Undeviginti without even realising what had happened.
‘Fool…’ Cheops kept moving around in an attempt to spot the maniac that had stolen his heart, all he found however, was a large beast made up of rotten flesh and sand lded together being flung toward him.
Barely managing to evade the creature that could give a giant a run for its money in a height contest, Cheops looked to where it had co from, quietly cursing under his breath as he readied his blade, as he had already been spotted.
There stood a Watchful Ersta’sol, and a rather powerful one to manage to send an undead beast flying like that, and in fact, it appeared that he had managed to fight off multiple undead soldiers on top of this, coming out on top with only a few minor injuries that were already healing themselves.
“I do not know where you three foul ones have found these… Things, but although quite powerful, they are nothing before the might of the Ersta’ras and Ersta’sols, consider surrendering so that you might avoid capital punishnt” the Ersta’sol had a rather bored expression, like he was reading from a script.
“Sorry, my friend, but why would we surrender when we are winning?” “Impudent cretin… Then if you so desire, I’ll send you to greet death” “Heh… Why do victory and defeat have the sa outco?”
