748: Operation Arid Soil : Part Fifty-Nine 748: Operation Arid Soil : Part Fifty-Nine Soon enough, the city and all of its surrounding towns were transford oases and within it, countless creatures of the desert turned undead now road, the risk of negators was much lesser when dealing with beings lacking sapience, it was not impossible, but many tis easier to take notice of and easier to deal with as well, as a creature that retained its living mind would not so easily comprehend that it was suppose to put on an act to at least hope not be found out.
The entire plan had been executed flawlessly, only a handful of powerless civilians had been allowed to escape, and those that did not succumb to the harsh environnt of the desert during their escape were already spreading the news that the three spurned faith had united once more and were establishing oases, naturally, that caused instant unrest amongst the people, even if it was likely that no one still alive had witnessed the first ti this had occurred, all had heard endless stories and tales of it.
Instead of monsters, the boogeyn of the children were worshippers of Cleansing and Sanguine Undeviginti, whilst young n and won were warned not to be swindled by a worshipper of Illusory Undeviginti.
So both civilians and wielders of vapour were concerned for what this ant, whether or not the foul trio would want to expand and attempt another coup, or if they would just content themselves with what they already had was unknown, but they had to prepare for the first eventuality regardless.
Such a reaction was to be expected as it was the most rational thing to do, but Ir’Houwl greatly doubted that the livings would try to attack imdiately, they did not understand how the oases had co into being or what they might be capable of, they would instead first gear up to defend themselves in a possible siege, they would probably wait for the ti of either of their patron suns to co and attack at the very beginning of the cycle, so as to not risk being caught into the open if either of the other three were to take over as they moved through the desert.
Indeed, the cycle of the Undeviginti was an important facet of conflict in this realm, there was obviously the empowering effect to the vapour of the solar star currently housing the sky, but most importantly, the peculiar quirks of each of them, Pri and Illusory Undeviginti would not be providing much direct support to either of their worshippers, they just did their own thing.
But Sanguine and Watchful Undeviginti were definitely bigger problems, the forr had its hunters at the ready that could be deployed pretty much anywhere at the start of its rule, and the latter had a nigh infinite amount of troops to back-up its worshippers with, as the red sun did in fact, recognise the heretics as allies, and Benerib had seed certain that it would recognise all of the others as allies as well, but that might have been the living given her patron star a bit too much credit.
As for Cleansing Undeviginti, simply no one was safe when it ca around, all would either have to hide from its light before it could fully manifest, or stand completely still for the duration of its reign, which might not last very long compared to the others, but would still be multiple days at least.
The dreadful heat it would emit would still cause an incredible amount of casualties even if all stopped moving completely, though, predicting the arrival of the youngest Undeviginti was sowhat difficult, in fact, predicting which one would take over was oftentis foolish if you were on your own, as it was much more accurate when worshippers of multiple faiths put together what they could sense.
Which was one of the big reasons why Ir’Houwl had made sure to keep the two Ersta’las alive, with the contract signed, they could not lie, and combined with Cheops, she had access to the opinion of three Ersta’las, ritites and Benerib could also help, but since they were only arm-bearers, they weren’t quite as accurate, but still, with mbers of each faith, Ir’Houwl had a great advantage, if one assud that the other side did not have captured mbers of the three spurned faiths to get intel from as well.
Another advantage to allowing the livings to spread the news of the trio coming back together was that it reached the ears of other roaming mbers the Illusory, Sanguine and Cleansing worshippers, Ir’Houwl had gambled that they would seek out the oases, and she had been right, soon enough, livings ca on their own to her, including more distinguished individuals, Ersta’las of all three groups soon showed up, although so of their status as such was sotis dubious, what was important was the influx of more living soldiers, which she could use as she pleased and also, it allowed her to prepare them to being at peace with one another by forcing them all to be nice and friendly.
This included the forr defender of the city, aning that all of the five worships were interacting together constantly, naturally, so of the newcors were a bit miffed about being essentially enslaved through a contract, but they rapidly adapted, they found out that they could easily bond with when not trying to tear out one another’s guts constantly.
Though, for so reason, what quickly beca prominent was just how ‘energetic’ they were when it ca to interacting with mbers of the other faith that happened to be of the opposite sex, it was like they just couldn’t help it at all, they just couldn’t stop themselves from getting intimate in this way.
Ir’Houwl knew that livings just couldn’t help but reproduce like rabbits and sprawl all over the place like a plague, but this exceeded her expectations by a wide margin, and her soldiers just watched with dubious looks as this all went down.
‘And here I thought that they were indoctrinated from birth to dislike the three reviled faiths… Are they just all into going against what they were caught, or is there a part of their society that I missed?’ perhaps she had been dead for too long and had just forgotten how livings thought completely, but no, Ir’Houwl had never even pursued nor wished for such ventures, so it wasn’t that she had forgotten, it was just that she never knew in the first place how this sort of things functioned.
In any case, she had gathered all of the Ersta’las that were now a part of her temporary soldiers and put them around a table, naly a wide slab of sandstone that was in one of the rooms of the solar temple, and was having them discuss how to fight against the capital, and thus, the rest of the desert.
