705: Mutual 705: Mutual Unlike the brute, Aldaii would be obliterated if he allowed even a single attack from Xaltar to land, he was otherwise faster and more agile, but that didn’t an much when your opponent constantly launched attacks that covered a large area, the restless wasn’t planning on allowing the living to even get close and make use of his little illusory trick.

With much difficulty, Aldaii evaded a pillar of fire, barely getting out of the way in ti, had he been any closer, there wouldn’t have been enough ti and half of him would have been reduced to ashes.

‘As expected of the most infamous restless, this guy’s firepower is incredible… Aliocen really is a madman to have survived with only that much damage against him…’ bringing his liuyedao up, covering the bottom half of his face in part as the point was directed to the left, the living spoke.

“Delusion!” and as it occurred, Xaltar was convinced that three Aldaii suddenly erged from the one he was seeing, all rushing toward him from different angles.

‘More illusions for your second step, huh?

I’ll just blast them all and find you!’ the restless’s inner soul energy was starting to feel like it was boiling from using his ability so much, but the more he did, the more powerful it seed to beco, never before had he had to use so many attacks, all others had fallen way before he had to even use ten.

Not to ntion that each was at his maximum output, the destruction each caused was untold and simply calamitous, truly, if one of death’s aspects had to be used to describe him, it would have to be destruction.

In quick succession, he fired blazing pillars of blue at each of the four Aldaii in total that he could see, and each was hit head-on, their forms catching fire and breaking apart into nothingness as their very being was burned away.

He blinded sent streams of flas all around him as he realised that none of the four was the real living, not even the one from which the other three had erged.

‘Is it actually a hallucination?

Am I literally having delusions because of his second step?’ he understood that Aldaii’s power went beyond a simple illusion, or so he assud, his attempts to protect himself filling his direct surroundings in flas turned out to be a great idea.

As his left arm was cleanly sliced at the shoulder by an invisible blade, Xaltar propelled himself away, landing on the ground as he quickly expelled flas in a circle around him, forming a circle.

‘Bastard… It’s just like his first step, but with more illusions and the invisibility extending to his whole body, isn’t it?’ it was simple, but effective, in theory at least.

“A re parlour trick, your sword skills must really be exceptional for you to be elite with such frivolous steps” he spoke aloud, garnering no reaction from Aldaii, the restless focused intently, the soul flas all around were his and as a being born on the other side, his connection to soul energy was stronger than the livings, it was his soul who had pulled bones together to form him into what he now was, and it was his soul that held him together even now.

Although the dreadful perating the air was that caused by Alistel releasing her second step and clashing with his king, his own was still present, he extended his senses through it, or at least, he attempted to as Xaltar had no idea if it really was possible, but as he was montarily safe from any attack as the living had no idea what he was doing inside his ring of flas, he tried to.

Ignoring the illusions that his sharp senses could easily pick up and instead tried to delve into their soul energy, and then into the ambient energy, and then into what the heat caused by his flas traversed.

And after a few monts, he stepped right out of the flas, using his remaining arm to create a blast that hurled him forward at Aldaii, firing his signature, spiralling infernal pillar at point-blank range.

“…And that’s how you die…” he muttered before stepping to the right with an unnatural motion, causing a thin hole to appear right through his bony stomach.

“…Now” Xaltar had intentionally gone for one of the illusions, and done so with such confidence and certainty radiating from him that it simply seed impossible to believe that he did not truly trust in his own judgent that this was the right move.

Aldaii had been sure of it, and he had been right, Xaltar had had full confidence in his actions, but not for the reason the living believed.

The restless twisted his body, leaving the blade difficult to pull out effectively and reached out into empty air with his hand, grasping onto sothing he could not see with his sight, but was without a doubt the living’s very own head.

“As I thought, your second step is lacking, work on it in the future” there was no dodging it, Xaltar’s grasp was strong, and as the rest of his fingers dug into Aldaii’s scalp, the index and thumb created a spark by rubbing against one another.

Muttering a curse, Aldaii discarded his sword and pressed his fingers against the restless’s temples, and as the flas carbonised him, he uttered one word.

“Boult!” Nearly simultaneously, Aldaii’s head and upper chest were reduced to cinders whilst Xaltar’s skull was shattered by a Boult, leaving them both to crumble to the ground like stringless puppets, that last attack from the living had contained everything he could possibly pour into it.

Aliocen stopped for a mont as he sensed Aldaii’s soul energy disperse, and his maddened smile drop, and in this instant, a most insidious, yet silent wrath blood within him, making his strength soar to even greater heights as he moved upon the restless embedded within the city wall, his strike intending to bring it down alongside his enemy.

‘Good job, Xaltar… We should not have any fear to sacrifice ourselves’ Xator lifted his head, the speed of the living was simply too great to be properly followed, but it certainly was helpful that his movents were so predictable, Aliocen only even went into a straight line toward his opponent, so no matter how fast he may be, intercepting his charge was simple.

One just needed to have so timing and good instincts.

The restless’s right hand had been shattered by the earlier strike despite his best attempt to shield it with soul energy, but at least, his other hand was still operational, not that it mattered right this instant, the stagnant energy flared up, condensing in the instants it took the living to arrive before him, mace coming down with enough force to probably break apart any restless unfortunate enough to be hit by it.

Before that strike could go through however, a beam of energy left the hole in his face, stopping the attack as though powerful winds were blowing right against him.

It was Aliocen’s turn to be blown back, and this ti, he wasn’t so quick to stand up as the toxic effect of Xator’s stagnant energy.

Raising one claw, and bringing it up to his face, pouring an amount of energy that was unlike anything else Xator had used before.

“This next attack, shall combine all of the energy I have left” he announced, raising this one finger as high as he could whilst the living pushed himself up to his feet.

“Bring it on, my nose just happens to be itching…”
