Capítulo 1258: Sword Freak
The clinking of swords intershocking rang out without rest as Lizi parried, blocked, and deflected against a four-ard undead who was wielding four straight swords in unison. Despite the apparent challenge and sweat rolling down her body, Lizi couldn’t help but smile widely as she faced the undead.
“Co on! Is this the best you can do? Surely you can go faster than this, right?!”
The corpse did not answer, only silently noting that Lizi was wasting her stamina against an assault which was not going to end until she fell dead on the ground–It was rather bizarre, however, it looked as though the more she grew tired, the more adrenaline pumped through her body… At first, it had mostly been blocks and deflections, but as ti went on… She was genuinely and skillfully parrying his strikes.
With each contact made between their blades, she was getting better. If this went on, it wouldn’t be surprising if she managed to find or create a gap wide enough to land a strike… He had heard about what this young living was capable of. He was well aware that a single hit could an a trip to The Graveyard’s cradle… As such, he should end this fight quickly–But he simply couldn’t.
Even with four arms, Lizi was simply… Almost spastic with off-putting enthusiasm. He had landed a few hits at the start, but it had only seed to accelerate her learning of his style. From the undead’s perspective, she might just be genuinely insane. She was enjoying herself right now. She was loving the struggle.
The best-case scenario would be for so assistance to arrive so that they would be able to pincer her, but he had since long noticed that his allies simply couldn’t make it to him on account of another living making sure to block their path–This was one on one confrontation, and unless he could exhaust her before she punched holes in his battle style, he was definitely going to lose. He wasn’t strong or skilled enough to be her match… Such was the issue with the realm’s restriction, by essence, not the best undeads of the Vanguard could be sent.
Most were from generally simpler, weaker castes, the average of their castes, or simply the trainees of stronger castes… He didn’t know who or what had designed these rules, but they had been made perfectly so that the livings had a very good fighting chance… Actually allowing them to dominate against an enemy which should be able to stomp them into nonexistence without even requiring the assistance of their strongest individuals…
… Although it seed like he was going to lose, it didn’t an that he wouldn’t be helping push forward to the completion of an objective. As the livings could probably already guess, the Vanguard would very much like to bend the rules of the realm slightly. They had many experts of rules, conditions, and all of those things which were basically the sa thing, but with different nas for obscure, minute reasons.
As long as whatever happened gave these experts even the smallest opportunity to ever-so slightly modify the rules–Then it was a victory. Undeads were eternal. It didn’t matter if they were destroyed. It didn’t matter how much ti they had to dedicate to this realm. They would never run out of warriors or grow tired of it.
One minuscule modification at a ti was all that was needed for any given operation to be called a great success.
Of course… This particular operation had another objective of importance.
Swords made contact once more, and sparks flew as the undead found all four of his arms flung to the side with significant force–He could quickly correct this, but ‘quickly’ was not ‘instantaneous’ and at this point, Lizi had grown very familiar with his speed and patterns.
She knew exactly that now was the perfect ti to strike… So she did, swiftly grabbing her blade into halfswording to absolutely smash the corpse’s putrefied face in. In the sa motion, she used a battle art very similar to that of Antieeld–Which was to be expected considering their relationship–And sent a pulse of ambient life force directly into the undead’s body.
The combination of the concussive force and life force sent a ripple throughout his death force, making his control over his own body weaken and go all over the place. This only propped him up perfectly to be slashed and diced into re particles.
As a form of signature, or perhaps as symbolism to herself–Lizi shattered all four of the undead’s swords just before destroying his body.
The living looked down as the barely perceptible remains of her opponents were broken down and faded away into Oblivion.
She exhaled strongly, a smile still plastered on her face.
“Ouch…”
Only then did she rember that she had been cut quite badly at the start of the fight. One injury in her side was especially uncomfortable. Any movent she made pulled on it.
“Lizi. Are you not going to use self-healing? Minli and I worked quite hard to teach it to you, you know? And you aren’t even using it to stop the bleeding…”
“Oh… Sorry! I forgot about it for a mont. The fight was just so good. It makes all excited like when you first began teaching swordplay!”
“I am glad to hear that you are having fun, but please take care of yourself. Your mother is going to be mad if she hears that you just allow yourself to bleed when you could easily stop it… Next lesson will be about casting healing spells on yourself whilst fighting. You focus too much on augntation and swordsmanship when fighting. A girl needs to take good care of herself, especially a young and pretty one like you”
“Aunty Antieeld… I am sure boys would love my bloody look! Don’t I look cool like this? n like warrior won, right?”
“If you smile like this while covered in blood, you’ll just make them think you are about to disembowel them with your sword… I used to be a bit like you, and let tell you–The n who don’t run when they see sothing like this? Stay away. Absolute freaks who would genuinely enjoy getting stepped on. You don’t want a man with no self-respect, trust ”
“Oh… Well… Should we go help sowhere else?”
“No need. The invasion is over already”
Antieeld had ‘eyes’ all over the place. She could see that all of the breaches had been closed, and the undeads still within were being carefully destroyed as well… The reason there weren’t too many of them left was thanks to Rummy, who had gone and activated a certain device which had caused strikes of green lightning to rcilessly descend upon the undeads, tearing apart many of them in one fell swoop.
Naturally, it was lightning deeply infused with ambient life force.
As for those who had been spared, there weren’t enough of them to be a threat anymore. So they were being overwheld… Speaking of which, there was sothing odd deeper inside the territory.
It seed like so robed undeads had opened up doorways to sowhere else… They had been amongst those who had avoided the punishnt by lightning, but they had been dealt with by Griar–The young man was currently getting done stomping the last one of them into paste.
Once everything was done, everyone gathered near the doorways, which remained even after the ones who had cast them had been destroyed.
“Don’t try going in. I was tricked into going through one by an undead mage. What lies on the other end is a Great Realm called ‘The In-Between’. Where you can’t use magic or any special abilities… There are apparently dangerous creatures, but I only had to deal with an undead wandering inside, who did everything he could to try and get to look at his face for so reason”
“Let’s just say… It was a rather stressful experience, not to ntion that with how the lights buzz constantly, and how the green wallpaper genuinely gave a headache just staring at it… The short amount of ti I spent in there was genuinely draining beyond belief”
“Welp… I doubt the undeads think we are stupid enough to actually go inside of our own volition, so I assu that they opened these to let either the creature on the otherside, or themselves in. Say, Liebeln, rember how you built things to seal gateways back in the Erald Realm? Do you think you could do it for these?”
The architect looked at Abraham, at the doorways, and then rubbed his chin.
“I can try, but I get the feeling that these doorways don’t exactly operate in the sa manner as those pulsing gateways from back then. They seem… More stable, I guess? The fact that they link up to a Great Realm is probably going to be an issue as well. I can probably figure sothing out to at least keep anything that cos out trapped, though”
“That’s what we love to hear”
