Capítulo 1148: A Strange Ordeal
Loimos may be one of the strongest beings in existence, and have the full might of the Undead Empire behind him, the land of death may be in its absolute golden age, where even the other superpowers of this world need to walk on eggshells around them, but he was well aware that this was not a world where one could rest on their laurels.
The only thing that was predictable was that things were unpredictable, the mysterious being Carnifex encountered was proof of this… The more undeath spread, the more beings and creatures ard to fight against it would appear.
But of course, certain things had been around for a long ti that could threaten undead sovereignty, one of such factions was present at the very bottom of this ravine in the form of a stray mber.
Loimos could easily deal with a single such creature, in fact, he could end its existence without going down the ravine at all, but it was an obstacle in the way of Litrakq, so it was for her to work around it for now.
And frankly, it wasn’t that big of a threat, it was rely a being spawned from a lesser variation of sothing powerful… Naly, this was an abomination of the Deep Sludge, which while definitely dangerous in its own rights, was but a diluted and weakened form of Abyss.
Deep Sludge wasn’t nearly as corruptive or malignant as Abyss, and since its discovery in the depths of the Western Cliffs in Belliste, its secrets had been unravelled, and it had beco a source of power for the Empire.
But regardless of the Deep Sludge not being as threatening, he still made sure to warn Litrakq not to approach it in any way shape or form, and then proceeded to dive into the cliff, or rather, he took a step that brought him all the way down.
The abominable being of the Deep Sludge was a mass of corrupted flesh, gaping maws, and swinging tendrils… It didn’t even fit throughout the bottom of the ravine, being squeezed against the walls as it had grown too large to properly move.
It was bathing in a profound pool of Deep Sludge, the ravine actually went far deeper than it appeared, but there was a foul, sludge-ridden creature-shaped plug in the way.
Loimos rely assud a phantomatic form and phased right through the creature, which didn’t even notice the pure undead’s presence at all.
The skeleton travelled down and down for a little, which said a lot about the depths he was travelling as most trips would usually only take him an instant as long as was trying to get there quickly.
There was a very simple reason why Loimos had co down, there was sothing of great interest further down below.
Such a thing had been missing entirely from Western Cliffs, and it was the rift through which a minuscule amount of Abyss had snuck into this realm… Of course, the rift was inactive, nothing could go through it.
But Loimos was going to collect it nonetheless.
The Abyss was amongst the most supre powers to exist, according to research, which involved ample amounts of divinations and scrying- The Abyss was a sort of enormous realm that was connected to all worlds and realms in existence.
Theoretically, by travelling through the Abyss, one could reach completely different worlds, but of course, anything within the Abyss was going to be twisted and corrupted within monts, and it was apparently filled with its own nagerie of creatures and defenders.
For example, it was said that Sonnenträger had once destroyed an abyssal rift and defeated a dragon-like being that had co out of it, his gold having been capable of combating even the Abyss.
Although it was nothing but a theory with no ground to stand upon, quite a few undead scholars were of the opinion that the Bright Lady And Pale Lady weren’t the only sisters of their sort, and that there was actually a lady for each distinct form of existence… Such as a lady for sapients golems, for pure spirits, for beings who had gone so far toward power that their life force was replaced by their way of power itself… And of course, an Abyssal Lady.
Whether this theory was true or not wasn’t worth pondering over as there was no good way to confirm unless you went and asked either of the two ladies directly… Which was sothing quite a few people thought Loimos could do, but even he, as the Pale Lady’s chosen undead, had never actually been graced with her presence.
As he went to collect the rift, sothing happened, there was a flash of purple–The sa purple that ignited within his sockets at tis… And he was suddenly transported to a foreign room, the ground was simple stone, but on the edges of the chamber, the stone broke apart and floated in place.
There were no walls or ceiling to speak of, rely paintings and a chandelier hovering in the air.
The lacks of those basics necessities when it ca to making a room gave sight into an endless world of darkness, filled with dots that resembled stars upon a night sky, just nearby however, there was a roundish place, a planet from the looks of it, but upon closer inspection, this thing had its own outer space, and its own planets within it.
It was no planet, it was a world.
As for the room itself, it features a long table and many chairs, each chair was similar, but clearly different as well, as though soone had bought several copies of the sa thing and then customised each based on who was supposed to sit upon it.
So each seat varied in size and decorations, but at the mont, none of them were occupied.
There were naplates on the table in front of each, of course, it depicted the na of the supposed owner of the seat, but also an accompanying title…
One of such titles was one that Loimos knew of.
‘The Defiler Of The Holy’
The very sa individual he had been compared to on a number of occasions due to sharing the sa unique, bizarre shade of purple in their eyes, or sockets in the case of Loimos…
Were all of the people nad here beings who shared that sa attribute.
It was likely as Loimos eventually found a naplate with his own na upon it.
‘Loimos, The Pure Undead’
His chair was rather tacky, being made out of bones, resembling a throne almost, on top of being placed at one of the far ends of the lengthy table, it almost seed like this was implying that he had a position of seniority over the rest, especially when the opposite end did not have any chair at all.
Loimos sensed sothing about this particular chair that hadn’t sensed with the other, certainly because it was intended for him, so he sat upon it, and sothing changed, naly, one of the other seats suddenly had soone sitting in it.
This particular chair had been a bit odd as its legs were overly tall, and the design featured so sort of ladder on the front, but it soon made sense as the creature sitting upon it turned out to be quite short.
The undead did not recognise the species this individual hailed from, possessing grey skin and a rather frail-looking body.
But the most important part was the fact that this creature was not living, possessing traits of the Abyss.
In fact, pure Abyss seed to be coursing through his veins.
The small creature yawned and leaned against the table, turning to look at Loimos.
“Oh, another death lover? Like we didn’t have enough with the two corpse fiddlers… What’s up, Buddy? So you’re the one with the important seat, huh? You must be pretty damned strong then?” he seed to be unfazed by being in the presence of the pure undead, which was understandable, there was a strong thread connecting Loimos to the small monster.
He wasn’t undead, but Loimos could tell that they were supposed to be brethren in so sort of a way… That, or the little monster truly wasn’t that impressed, he was actually surprisingly hard to read despite his rather overt expressions.
“I rely attempted to collect an abyssal rift before being brought here” replied Loimos, watching as his interlocutor’s face scrunched up into a most ugly expression.
“Huh… So I was brought out here for no reason, do you at least have one question to ask?”
Loimos asked a question, but the monster just shook his head.
“I am not giving an answer to that, are you crazy?”
“Ask sothing else”
“Mmh… How about no?”
“Huh? An Abyssal Lady? Oh, I see who you’re talking about! I don’t know if she goes by that na, but there is definitely a woman who hangs around in the Abyss, real annoying that one… She keeps trying to pick up and spin around like I am a little child, can you believe that? Who does she think she is to put her dirty hands on without my permission? Being cute does not excuse all behaviour”
“Oh well, it’s that all, I’ll be fading away- Little advice though, do not try to have conversation with the guy who sits over here, even worse freak than the two cadaver fiddler, I am not a saint by the usual aning of the word, but I feel real holy when he starts speaking of what he does in his free ti…”
“Frankly, it’s quite insulting that I am put on the sa level as so of these lunatics, the murderers, I am alright with that–I am alright with lots of things, but there are limits!”
And with these words, the small monster vanished.
Loimos found himself back in front of the abyssal rift.
This had been a rather bizarre event.
