Chapter 1122: First Attempt

Litrakq remained laid back as she sat in the comfort of an elven-style ho atop the Mountain Jungle, just as she had expected, the enemy was too spooked to try and push forward, they were right to be afraid, the entire jungle was one big death trap, her soldiers were everywhere, traps were everywhere, and with her iron grip over the local elves, she could call upon nature to manifest the weather, only the incredibly strong could just charge through the jungle.

Unfortunately, she had the backing of the Verfolger to prevent this from happening, so she had an undeniable advantage as the defender.

And now, the enemy troops were losing morale, the human soldiers in particular, they had fought tooth and nail, watched their fellows be mowed down like tall grass, and now what? The enemy had retreated and there was nothing they could do about it? To them, it felt like all the deaths had been aningless.

Like they had just been sent into a grinder without reason or logic, like there had never even been a chance for them to win in the first place.

The dirt-bloods hadn’t been hiding in the jungle from the start for the simple reason they did not care about losing soldiers, they had taken the chance to slaughter humans and elves before retreating when the situation turned for the worse.

The dirt-blooded commander was pleased to see this, the problem with the elves was that due to their link, they understood and could address such things imdiately before it had the chance to evolve into a greater problem, but the humans? They had no such things, their negative thoughts and reproaches against those leading them were allowed to fester.

Litrakq did not know whether it would bloom into a revolt or mass desertion, but at the very least, it would hurt their cohesion and weaken them further, and that was all she asked for.

If she just aid for the outco that was certain to occur, then she could never be disappointed, and her plans would always work out as she did not rely on low odds and high amounts of luck.

But eventually, she noticed the arrival of several things, first was what looked like dirt-blood, only that she felt the link binding her to them was incredibly weak, as though they were on the verge of death and that their bodies were in the process of shutting down.

And then ca three rocky giants.

The strange dirt-bloods had seemingly co from the human domain, whilst the walking rocks seed to be of elvish manufacture, that threw a wrench into her carefully thought-out plans.

Dealing with the seemingly half-dead dirt-bloods should be easy enough as although faint, she still shared a link to them, allowing her to know their exact position at all ti, but the rocky creations of the elves? She was quite worried about these.

Litrakq did not know what they were, but gave the impression of being bad news, their rocky bodies seed incredibly tough, and even from such a distance, she could tell that they were heavy despite being able to move around without much problem, aning that they had to possess incredible strength as well.

Were they going to try and do sothing now that they had these at their disposal? They were welco to try, even if unexpected, she was already thinking of ways to subdue and destroy them, not to ntion that their large size would make it difficult for them to traverse the jungle…

Still, Litrakq was certain that both the bizarre dirt-bloods and rocky constructs had more to offer than what t the eye.

“How long until reinforcents arrive?” she asked a nearby scout who had been standing next to her in silence, waiting for the authorisation to speak.

The small dirt-blood lowered his head.

“One more week, Commander” he replied, soon sent away by Litrakq as she rubbed her chin in silence.

‘A week? Seems like they are preparing a much bigger army than usual…’ the delay in receiving assistance might have spooked so, but Litrakq was confident that her current strategic position could hold until then.

What she found more interesting was the implication of it all, she made sure to keep herself inford of what was happening beyond her own battle here, and it had been a while since a new army had been churned out… Unless due to a problem, which she should have been inford about, it ant that an army larger than any other before was being prepared.

And as far as she was aware, this was the signal that would indicate for the dirt-bloods to charge and push deeper than ever before into the human domain.

The elven domain was simply too annoying and complicated to conquer, and numbers wouldn’t help in that regard, so it was left for later, dirt-bloods were only dispatched there in the first place to pin down the elves in place and prevent their enemies from helping each other.

The sa was true for many human bastions and citadels, the soldiers placed to attack them weren’t ant to conquer and achieve total victory, they were rely here to ensure that no troops could get out of them.

When this large army arrived however, it would absorb those groups of dirt-bloods and push forward, using crushing nurical advantage to move forward and conquer as many fortified positions as possible, with the goal of not only capturing humans to further enhance the rate at which soldiers were being produced, but also to claim these positions and turn them into nests.

Slowly but surely, the idea was to eat away at the human domain, and the more this happened, the more dirt-blooded soldiers would be born in less ti than before, eventually giving them such an absurd nurical advantage that even the elves and their tricky ways wouldn’t be able to resist.

Of course, Litrakq and her troops wouldn’t be able to just leave and join the army as they needed to stay and secure this highly advantageous position as well as the still growing half-elf dirt-bloods.

As indeed, so had already been born, but as should have been expected, elvish blood made them grow at a painfully slow rate compared to regular dirt-bloods, and they also needed more attention.

Litrakq could tell that they would grow to be strong however, so it was worth it to nurture them.

Just as she was thinking about the prospect of those brand-new soldiers, there was movent below.

‘Are they going to try their luck?’

It seed like so, Litrakq passed a ssage to several ssengers, ensuring that her troops hidden within the jungle were ready and alert for invaders.

From her elevated position, the commander could see that they were making use of one of the rock creatures to open the way for them, furthermore, both elves and humans were going in together.

No signs of them making use of the strange dirt-bloods yet, though.

As far as strategies went, that seed like a good one, they were keeping close to the their stone guardian, basically using it as a shield against any ambushes, ensuring that attacks could only co from a limited number of directions.

With armour humans marching as a cohesive unit, and elves on the lookout, such a group would be incredibly difficult to stop under normal circumstances, but the jungle was dirt-blood territory now.

Soon after they entered, the torrential rain began, greatly limiting both vision and one’s audition as the drops kept slamming against the leaves above, on top of making it far more miserable for anyone to go around as everyone was dripping wet within just a few minutes.

Dirt turned to mud, making it harder for the stone protector to move forward as its heavy weight was causing it to sink much deeper than others, and ambushes began exceptionally quickly, as the first layer of protection that was in the form of soldiers were the chaleon-like dirt-bloods that Litrakq had used against the elite knight that once protected Vijudius.

They were individually weak, but they were perfect to take soone’s surprise, not to ntion, that if the second one revealed themselves, they would flare up with fighting spirit as Litrakq augnted them.

Even if she had been a bit disappointed about their performances last ti, Litrakq had remained fond of their natural capabilities, not to ntion that they were actually incredibly nurous to begin with and could reproduce amongst themselves at an impressive speed.

Leading the first party to venture into the woods to be assaulted without rest by many of those large-eyed dirt-bloods, even if the invaders were not slain on the spot, they were wounded, and injuries would start to pile up.

Eventually forcing them to grit their teeth and turn back before they could even experience the deadlier traps and ambushes the jungle had to offer.

They would have to co back with a better formation than this.

‘Let’s how far you can get within a week…’
