Capítulo 1108: Target

Armourless and forced to use a sidearm like it was his primary weapon of choice, Vijudius was a bit irked as these were precious symbols of his knighthood, and moreover, a sword like this one was not at all a good choice for such a chaotic lee, he needed so range on his weapon!

“Why don’t you try a bow? With you super knight body or whatever, you should be able to use our powerful elven bows” Giliniel, who for so reason, stuck nearby to him as though willfully tornting his psyche, by now, the mories implanted by the undead were completely drowned out by his thoughts about the elf.

No matter how much fighting spirit he tried to use to freshen his mind and think straight, it didn’t work, it was like she was a mind devil or sothing foul like that, nestled in his brain like a parasite of the worst kind.

Vijudius wanted to retort with sothing unpleasant about elves, but he stopped himself, that wasn’t a bad idea actually, as a knight hailing from high nobility, he had been trained in a variety of weapons since his youth, his very first mory was of him learning how to wield a sword from his trainer.

His trainer had been a peculiar man who always wore a steel mask for so reason, but his skills had been top notch without the shadow of a doubt.

This training had naturally involved the bow and crossbow as well, although bows were the signature weapons of the elves, the human clan also made extensive use of them, and brigades of archers were considered so of the deadliest troops available.

There were even so knights specialised in the bow, but they were rare as fighting spirit was not an energy that handled being taken away from its user very well, the only ones who managed that better were those whose fighting spirit was naturally imbued with an elent, for example, the late silver knight’s fiery energy was able to surge forward without losing power.

But even then, the range was sowhat limited, and this was the case for many of those knights with rare elental fighting spirits, but those archer knights had a special skill for maintaining control and connection to their energy even over vast distances, or at least, that what he had heard, Vijudius had rarely t said archer knights.

Although he couldn’t imbue arrows like they could, if he had an elven bow with elven arrows, he could still use his enhanced physique to fire powerful projectiles.

“Sure, I thought that you wouldn’t let a human handle your precious gear, however” he replied with a brow raised, but Giliniel just smiled smugly at him.

“You savages could never replicate our thods, I am sure your crown-wearer has plenty of our stuff in his cache that he had never found the way to even mimic to a lesser degree” she mocked, making the human knight frown in annoyance, but he didn’t say anything back, because he knew that she was correct on that one.

‘Better not start a fight I can’t win…’ he received the bow without making any other comnts, he could just feel the power of the weapon in his hand, it was abnormally light, yet, he felt that he would need to exert much of his strength to break it.

“Impressive, right?” asked Giliniel.

Vijudius rely grunted in response, not willing to grace her or her kind with any sort of complints.

“I guess it will suffice for now… The fight never stops, does it? Let’s get going…”

The elf looked at him like he was an idiot.

“Why would you go and fight? A champion hunter ca down from the sky earlier to fight you, and he seed to be even more powerful than any other I have heard of, you’ll just get targeted again”

“Why give a bow then?”

“In case the dirt-bloods break through the line again, obviously, but I don’t really care what a human is up to, the hunters will only attack you after all, I don’t have to help you…”

Vijudius rolled his eyes.

He knew that he was considered prey by the battlefield hunters, but for so reason, the one that had attacked him had decided to spare his life, and had instead forced mories into his mind.

That made Vijudius believe that, for so reason, they didn’t want to actually kill him, it was as though they wanted sothing from him alive, the young knight didn’t know what they could possibly desire , but he felt confident that they wouldn’t take action against him.

His guts were telling him to try it.

But truthfully, if he was wrong, it had beco clear that any of those hunters could probably kill him as long as they actually tried, and just because they wanted him alive, it did not an that they wouldn’t maim him if needed.

As such, Vijudius hesitated.

His fighting spirit was potent, if he poured his all into it, he was confident that he could reattach, or perhaps even regrow a limb, though, the latter would probably take several months and require so dical assistance.

“Giliniel” he said, the elf’s pointy ears twitched as she heard her na being pronounced in the wrong way by the human, but nonetheless, she was surprised that the knight was actually calling her by na rather than just ‘elf’ or ‘knife-ears’.

He pointed above the fighting troops, toward the giant dirt-blood that remained undefeated- Or rather, he pointed toward the figure sitting crosslegged upon the monster’s shoulder.

“This one should be their leader, I saw her in action myself from up-close” he began saying.

“I doubt that they will be greatly destabilised if they lose their leader, they’ll just turn more feral at best” said the elf imdiately, understanding where he was going with this, but taking out the dirt-blooded leader was not worth the risk, even if killing her was going to break the ranks of the dirt-bloods completely, the chances of actually getting to her were basically null.

“You don’t understand, she’s not just any dirt-blood, to begin with, half of her face looks like that of an elf as you must know, but more importantly, she has abilities that are probably directly affecting the flow of battle…”

“Did you notice how sotis, when it seems that we are gaining ground, that the dirt-bloods suddenly surge in power to push us back? I believe it’s because of her, the distance and chaos makes it impossible to tell right now, but when she was only a small distance away, I noticed sothing”

Vijudius recalled what had happened in clear detail.

“Her fighting spirit and mana are conjoined together, and she seems capable of granting that energy to other dirt-bloods, empowering them… I suspect that she is doing that to prevent her troops from losing ground, and if push cos to shove, I would rather not witness what she can do if she uses all of her reserves over as many soldiers as possible” he explained, believing that if the state of the opposing leader’s army were to diminish, that she would just overcharge a bunch of the soldiers to deal a heavy blow to them.

The humans and elves would certainly be tired by then as well, so it was likely to be a massacre.

“It’s just a theory that I have, but I am certain that my reasoning isn’t nonsensical… I think that we should take her down to prevent this from happening, once she is gone, we would be able to push whenever we get an advantage without having to deal with more powerful enemy soldiers”

Gilinel rubbed her chin as she listened to the human, annoyingly enough, there was indeed an amount of logic to what he was saying, and it was well-known by the chain of command by now that the enemy leader was indeed not your run-of-the-mill dirt-blood, the elves wanted her gone due to her strong elven lineage in particular, so if given another, practical reason as to why they should eliminate her, the elves in command would surely agree.

She tilted her head to the side.

“That’s fine and all, but do you have any idea how we could even get to her? There is a sea of dirt-bloods separating us from her, and even if she goes on one of her little expeditions, she will be surrounded by powerful dirt-bloods, and especially that giant, and I also doubt that she is easy to take out, she took over the mountain after all, if that monster wants to escape, who can stop her?” she asked, causing the knight to shrug.

“I don’t know that yet, I am sharing so that you can help think of sothing”

“Huh… A human asking for help from an elf? That’s quite novel, but I get the point, you have reasons to believe that the enemy leader is a major reason as to why we aren’t progressing, but if so, why are the other fronts where she isn’t in the sa situation?”

“…That’s a good question, I can only guess that she can either share her energy over large distances and has so sort of understanding of what is happening at all tis… Or more simply, the dirt-bloods deployed elsewhere are stronger, and she stayed with the weakest to provide support, effectively allowing one front to only have few powerful fighters, dispatching them more efficiently elsewhere…”

The elf kept her head tilted for a few seconds longer before sighing.

“I’ll report your thoughts to my superiors and I guess we’ll do so observation before making a decision, do not go and fight on your own whilst no one is looking! You have to be alive for when they want to hear it directly from you, understood-? You know what, just to be sure, co with directly”

“Wait a secon-”

“No, I don’t trust you stay put”

Vijudius didn’t really mind having to accompany her, but he did mind having Giliniel grab his arm and pull him along.

His heart was beating abnormally wildly.

‘By the gods, how low have I fallen?’
