Chapter 1095: Uninvited Guest

A link established with a foul monster only bearing a fraction of elvish blood? An existence that follows life? And that is far superior to live on top of being eternal? The elf leader would be a fool to believe such madness, it made no sense whatsoever, there did not exist such good things, and if they did, they always ca with a hefty price.

“You were led astray by that monster, Liminel, your mind was filled with lies and deception, there is no way for such a creature to possess the link that unites us elves together, after all, why are you the only one that have experienced it?” retorted the leader, shaking Liminel by the shoulder, she was soone he had seen the entire life of, from birth to where she was now.

Even if they had had limited interactions, he had still watched over Liminel all of life, seeing her deceived like this was a hard sight.

“As you said, her elven blood is diluted, a link will only form in close proximity to her, for , it only ford after several long minutes”

The leader sighed.

“I see that you are unwilling to consider another possibility”

“So are you, Leader”

“…Very well then, I will have to separate you from the others so that you can’t spread deceit any longer, follow ” he spoke authoritatively, and knowing that there was no point in resisting a powerful elf that was also an accomplished mage, Liminel simply nodded and followed after him out of the hut, where the other powerful elves of the mountain were waiting.

As soon as the leader and Liminel stepped out however, everyone besides her suddenly moved, bows were drawn, and in a most bizarre display, the elves that stood several notches above the rest, the pillars of this settlent, were aiming at one another, all seven of them when counting the leader himself.

“What is the aning of this?” he was the first to speak, due to the connection they all shared the instant three of his fellows moved to draw their bows, the other three, alongside the leader, also reacted.

“Leader, Liminel is right, any further struggle will only cause our ho to be further ravaged, there is no hope of victory for us” one of the three treacherous elves replied.

“Are you foolish? We will soon receive assistance, don’t you feel it through the bonds that were shared with our fellow elves from far away? Sothing is being prepared as we are speaking, those dirt-bloods- They will all be slaughtered without fail” an elf on the side of the leader imdiately snapped back.

Liminel arched a brow, unlike them, her connection to far away elves was too faint to feel much, so she had not known about the possibility of reinforcent, especially since she had heard that no other elven territories could spare any attention due to being under assault themselves.

Had one or more managed to defeat the dirt-bloods armies besieging them?

“Stop this madness right now, lower your bows, or are you willing to spill the blood of your friends and family?” the leader lowered his own bow, and the two sides trembled before doing the sa, believing was one thing, but such drastic actions? They were incapable of it, this was why no arrows had been fired at all, it was nothing more than an empty threat, there was no strong will to back it.

“Whilst Liminel might wholeheartedly believe that she is telling the truth, what proves that she has not been fed false information? Have any of you considered this possibility?” the leader spoke, but there was no particular reaction from the three treacherous elves.

“We’re sorry, Leader, we thought like you at first, but we experienced it firsthand! We do not see how this could not be the truth!” one replied, making the leader’s heart grow cold.

“What do you an, you experienced it ‘firsthand’? What do you an by that?!” he clenched his fist, but his attention was soon dragged sowhere else, to his right.

Elves carrying the sa doubts as Linel had gathered, they could not conceal them like the three powerful elves were able to, and sohow, their numbers had further increased in a short amount of ti.

‘What happened-‘ he got his answer imdiately as his gaze fell on a figure that had no business being on top of the mountain.

“You…”

“A pleasure to et, Mister Leader! Whatever your actual na is… I am Commander Litrakq, but you can just call foul dirt-blood if you want to”

“How…? You have let her co upon the mountain?! The one who has slain and defiled the remains of several of our fellows?!” the leader and the three elves with him could hardly believe it, even if there was a promise of sothing after death, and thus, the promise that those who had died would return, was it not pushing it to invite the murderer like she was a guest?

But to his horror, he felt it, a link established itself between her and him, just like what Liminel had said, and then she spoke up, spoke what the link certified was the truth.

“All that they have claid is correct, there is no deception, whatsoever here”

The leader remained silent for several seconds.

“That link is false” he simply stated as his gaze hardened.

“Leader, is it true?” one of the three elves by his side, who were convinced of its veracity, asked with hope, having a hard ti truly believing all of this.

“Of course, you might not be able to tell, for it is indeed similar to the link we share, but it is hollow, why doesn’t the commander say sothing that all here knows to be falsehood, so that we see if this link detects lies?” he said.

All eyes fell on Litrakq, the leader seed convinced of what he was saying, the link said that he was speaking the truth, but he and Litrakq could not be both correct at the sa ti, either one was manipulating the link, or one was convinced that a deception was the absolute truth.

The commander rely smiled in response, the canine-like teeth of the left side forming a foul picture as strands of saliva were strung about in between them, whilst the right side was rely a smug expression.

“That is a good way to try and demonstrate sothing, Mister Leader, I’ll take you up on it… Listen closely everyone”

In this instant, the leader felt a cold sweat travel along his back, he knew that the link was actually hollow, he was not mistaken.

‘Could it be that…?’

“The sky is red all year long” she said, everyone felt that it was a lie.

“The human knights wield mana” another lie.

“Elves only live for fifty years at most”

“A tree is not alive”

Again and again, she demonstrated that the link could in fact detect falsehood.

“I think I made my point, Mister Leader, do you have a rebuttal to offer? I am perfectly willing for us to get to the bottom of this” now, even the warped side of her face appeared unbelievably smug.

“…I think it is best that there is no room for doubt” replied the leader.

And thus, the tests continued.
