Chapter 765: Elder An’s Invitation

"This..."

Right, there’s still the phone call!

Hearing her grandfather’s words, Han Lu was montarily stunned, but soon she felt that sothing was off. Just as she was about to speak, Han Yuqi spoke again, "Alright, my good granddaughter, it’s settled then. Just prepare well. Believe in yourself and believe in your grandfather’s judgnt, you can do it."

After finishing, Han Yuqi stood up, smiled, and said, "Grandpa won’t disturb you any longer. I’m going to rest a bit. Getting older ans getting tired more easily."

"Grandfather...!"

"Little girl, give it your all, but don’t stress yourself out too much."

Han Lu didn’t expect her grandfather to leave as soon as he said he would. Just as she was about to speak, she was interrupted by him again.

"Oh, by the way, little girl, give your best in that other matter too. Take down Xiao Yi. Grandpa believes in you!"

As he was about to leave, Han Yuqi suddenly rembered sothing, turned his head, and winked at his granddaughter.

"Grandfather!"

Han Lu didn’t expect that her grandfather, who had been talking about serious matters, would suddenly bring up Xiao Yi. Her face flushed with shyness, and she wanted to say sothing, but Han Yuqi had already walked away with a hearty laugh. She could only stamp her foot in frustration and embarrassnt.

After stamping her foot a few tis, her expression suddenly turned thoughtful. She rembered that Xiao Yi had been searching for so ancient dical books recently, not just ordinary ones but so rare editions. The upcoming trade fair in Glass City was the perfect place for all kinds of rare treasures. Maybe soone would bring out so unusual rare books for trade. Should she ask him if he wanted to go together?

Almost imdiately, she picked up her phone to call Xiao Yi, but as she raised her phone, she hesitated and stopped.

Forget it. I’ll just tell him directly after the exam the day after tomorrow.

Han Lu shook her head, put down her phone, and turned to walk to the study next to her. She began to calm down and review for her upcoming exams.

Although she was a granddaughter of the Han Family, her education had never been given any special consideration from a young age, including her admission to Z University—it was all achieved on her own. She took her studies very seriously.

........................

After finishing Han Lu’s phone call, Xiao Yi stayed montarily lost in a wry smile before turning his head, putting away his phone, and heading upstairs.

After a quick tidy-up, Xiao Yi prepared to start his cultivation, but just as he sat cross-legged on the bed, his phone rang again.

He hesitated for a mont, and knew he had to abandon his cultivation to answer the call. But in his heart, he silently decided that in the future, during cultivation, he must turn off his phone, otherwise, the amount of disturbance was just too much.

"Elder An?"

Seeing the caller ID on his phone, Xiao Yi was taken aback. This was unexpected.

He suddenly felt like it might be his lucky day, with unexpected friends calling him one after another.

"Grandpa An, hello."

As the phone rang once more, he quickly ca to his senses, pressed the answer button, and revealed a slight smile on his face.

"Xiao Yi, I hope I’m not disturbing you."

On the other end of the phone, Elder An Jinhua, the renowned Divine Doctor An of G City, listened to Xiao Yi’s voice. He glanced at his precious granddaughter An Lili standing beside him nervously, his expression unnaturally breaking into a smile as he spoke.

"Not at all. You’re too polite, Grandpa An. I’ve been quite busy lately and have regrettably not been able to stay in touch. Please accept my apologies."

Xiao Yi quickly smiled apologetically, especially when he ca to the last part of his statent, his face involuntarily blushing. He suddenly rembered he was still holding a position at the Provincial People’s Hospital, drawing a salary, but it had been quite a while since he last visited the hospital. If he went, he would be in the traditional dicine departnt, and naturally, he would not miss seeing Elder An.

"Ha-ha, no problem, you’re busy, and that’s understandable. So, Xiao Yi, I’ve heard that you finished your final exams today?"

An Jinhua chuckled, intending to exchange pleasantries, only to be fiercely glared at by his nearby granddaughter. He was compelled to cut to the chase and broach the main topic. As he spoke, he almost let slip that he had heard it from his granddaughter Lili. Fortunately, in his urgency, his granddaughter pinched him, snapping him out of it just in ti to alter his wording.

"Yes, I just finished them. You’re very thoughtful, Grandpa An."

Hearing Elder An’s words, Xiao Yi was montarily stunned. Han Lu knowing when he finished his finals was one thing, but how did Elder An know about it? He believed that Elder An cared about him, yet he didn’t seem like soone who would pay attention to when Xiao Yi’s finals ended.

With this thought, he suddenly felt that Elder An’s tone today was sowhat off, not quite like his usual manner.

But before he could ponder further, Divine Doctor An had already spoken again, "You’ve finished your exams, do you have any plans?"

As Grandpa finished asking this question, An Lili’s whole deanor suddenly tensed up, her ears perked up attentively, and she kept leaning toward the microphone in Grandpa’s hand, her small hands gripping tightly.

"This... I don’t have any."

Xiao Yi hesitated, then shook his head, "Grandpa An, do you need sothing?"

Hearing Xiao Yi’s voice coming from the phone, An Lili almost jumped up excitedly, raising her small hand and waving it in the air, then quickly signaled to her grandfather what to say next.

"Well, it’s nothing, our family... our family made a few dishes, and we’re hoping you’d co over for a drink or two."

An Jinhua looked at his excited granddaughter’s expression, his own expression growing more embarrassed, and his voice beca even more unnatural. In his haste, he almost said, "Our Lili has prepared a few dishes," but caught himself in ti and briskly moved on.

"This..."

Hearing Elder An’s voice, Xiao Yi finally confird for sure that sothing was off with Elder An today.

Feeling the hesitation in Xiao Yi’s voice from the phone, An Lili’s heart imdiately tensed again, and she quickly grabbed her grandfather’s hand, her eyes pleading toward the phone.

"Xiao Yi, are you not available?"

An Jinhua, seeing his granddaughter’s anxious expression, hastened to ask again.

"It’s not that. Let’s do this, I’ll co over later, but Elder An, are you sure there’s nothing you need?"

Xiao Yi hesitated but accepted the invitation. He didn’t want to offend anybody, especially when Elder An was extending an invite; he didn’t want to slight him. Yet after agreeing, his eyes still showed a bit of worried caution as he asked.

"? I don’t have anything. Ah, no, ha-ha, what could I possibly have."

An Jinhua didn’t expect Xiao Yi to ask such a question. After a brief pause, he realized Xiao Yi might have sensed sothing from his earlier deanor, and with an awkward smile, he laughed.

"Oh, it’s good that there’s nothing. I’ll see you in a bit then."

Hearing Elder An’s voice from the phone, Xiao Yi frowned slightly. Elder An’s reassurance didn’t ease his mind but made him even more concerned. He thought today’s eting might be about sothing important because Elder An’s behavior seed too different from usual. If he hadn’t been so familiar with Elder An’s voice and sure it couldn’t be faked, he might have thought the previous faking incident had happened all over again.

However, since Elder An hadn’t revealed anything, he didn’t push further. He felt Elder An might have so reasons that were hard to express, and after all, upon arriving at his house, everything would beco clear.

"I’ll see you in a bit."

After the last words and hanging up the phone, An Jinhua felt like he was sweating from his forehead, as if he’d just fought a battle. He looked at his granddaughter, who was already dancing with joy, and shook his head with a helpless smile, silently lanting that it’s hard to keep a grown daughter at ho.

His granddaughter, whom he raised from a baby, teaching her everything from reading and writing to dressing and eating with chopsticks, now had her heart completely tied to another boy.

To invite soone over for a al, she even coerced her grandfather into shedding his dignity and doing the inviting for her!

"Grandpa, thank you so much! Grandpa, I love you to death!"

After venting her excitent through dancing, An Lili finally cald down a bit, rembering her accomplice, she ran over and grabbed her daydreaming grandfather, oblivious to the embarrassnt on his face, and kissed him on the forehead.

"This girl! She’s not young anymore but still acts like a child!"

An Lili’s actions startled An Jinhua for a mont. When he ca back to his senses, he touched his forehead, his face showing a helpless smile.

"Grandpa, I’m off to buy groceries. You’re in for a treat tonight!"

An Lili didn’t heed her grandfather’s chiding gaze, just laughed, stuck out a playful face to her grandfather, and dashed toward the door.

This girl was never this eager to cook for Grandpa before!

Indeed, it’s hard to keep a grown daughter at ho!

Watching his granddaughter flit out the door as nimbly as a swallow, humming a tune, An Jinhua couldn’t help but look on wistfully and sighed inwardly.

Nevertheless, knowing his granddaughter’s affection wasn’t for soone else but Xiao Yi, his heart felt sowhat more at ease. Otherwise, he would have been so angry that he’d have slamd his fist on the table. (To be continued.
