Chapter 717: Who is Behind the Scenes
"What? You’re saying, in Li Ziyoung’s office, they found these?"
In the office of Zeng Xiaoi at the G City Criminal Investigation Bureau, Zeng Xiaoi, who had been sitting there in a daze, pondering the events of the past two days, almost leaped from her chair upon hearing the subordinate’s report.
"Yes, based on the current data and evidence, we can definitively conclude that the murderer behind both accidents is undoubtedly Li Ziyoung!"
The reporting police subordinate’s face was filled with excitent; he had never expected to link even the most troubleso previous accidents to the case.
"This is outrageous!"
Almost in an instant, looking at the evidence of the cri in front of her, Zeng Xiaoi had already organized everything in her mind. Previous data had indicated that the pri suspect in the assassination attempt on Chen Jianguo was Li Ziyoung. Now, with this evidence added, everything was crystal clear—she was even more certain than the subordinate that the cases were definitely committed by Li Ziyoung!
And if there was no surprise, his purpose in committing these cris was certainly to divert their attention!
This damned guy, to divert attention, actually did...
In Zeng Xiaoi’s mind, the images of the families of those who had died in accidents, their expressions of unbearable pain, resurfaced, as did the image of a tragically beautiful face—a girl who should have been enjoying the pri of her life and all its splendors, but suddenly beca a high-level paraplegic confined to a bed, waiting for death...
"Bang!"
Zeng Xiaoi fiercely slapped the desk, her face so dark it seed it could drip ink. "Imdiately, right now, arrest Li Ziyoung and bring him to justice!"
"Captain, we..."
"Imdiately, right now!"
The subordinate wanted to say sothing else, but Zeng Xiaoi had already slamd the desk again, resolute in her decision.
"Yes, yes!"
Seeing Zeng Xiaoi’s ashen face, the subordinate quickly agreed repeatedly, then carefully retreated.
Li Ziyoung, it’s truly outrageous. He has gone too far in disregarding the law—such wanton disregard for human life!
Zeng Xiaoi’s hand clenched tightly over her head, her heart beating rapidly and struggling to calm down for a long while. This ti, Li Ziyoung’s actions had thoroughly crossed her bottom line, making it unbearable for her.
When she had first seen those shocking things, she thought that those were the filthiest, most hateful, cruelest, and most despicable deeds the Li Family could do. However, she never expected that the Li Family could stoop even lower—there was no bottom line, only ever-increasing depravity!
Nearly ten innocent lives, having no grudges or misunderstanding with him, not even knowing him, were taken just to divert their attention...
"Bang!"
Zeng Xiaoi’s fist hamred the desk again, fiercely. After a while, she stood up abruptly, grabbed her police cap from the desk, and strode towards the door.
.................................
Dressed in her police uniform, Zeng Xiaoi watched the entrance of the Li mansion as one police officer after another led out the arrested criminals from the Li Family and loaded them into the cars outside. Although there had been a few hours’ delay, the operation had finally begun.
At this mont, the Li Family’s formal disintegration was declared.
If before, Zeng Xiaoi had so sighs when watching the Li Family fall, now, seeing the police coming and going and the mbers of the Li Family being arrested, she felt no pity nor sympathy—only endless disgust.
For a family as evil as this one, being completely erased from the world was the best outco!
It was because there were too many powerful forces that could cover the sky with one hand, like the Li Family, that the world was filled with indignation and injustice, darkness and despair, evil and cruelty!
"Captain, we’ve made all the arrests, but Li Ziyoung isn’t among them!"
Suddenly, a uniford man rushed out from inside and hurriedly approached Zeng Xiaoi, a look of worry on his face.
"How could this be? Didn’t we have confirmation that he was in there before?"
Zeng Xiaoi was taken aback for a mont and furrowed her brows.
"It was the case before, but..."
The subordinate wiped the beads of sweat on his forehead nervously. "We’ve searched the entire Li mansion, including all basents and all compartnts, and indeed, there was no sign of Li Ziyoung!"
"Where is Li Wenchao?"
Zeng Xiaoi eyed her subordinate’s tense expression with a hint of foreboding creeping into her heart. A possible explanation crossed her mind followed by an even greater likelihood, and in her urgency, she said, "The subordinate ntioned everyone had been arrested, but she didn’t see Li Wenchao being led out of the door."
"He... he’s still inside, Captain Zeng..."
Upon hearing Zeng Xiaoi inquire about Li Wenchao, the subordinate’s face took on an odd look, and his expression hesitated.
Zeng Xiaoi didn’t dwell on his expression or press him further. She knew what he ant—the patriarch of the Li family, once a prominent figure, they dared not arrest him.
Taking a deep breath, Zeng Xiaoi stepped forward towards the grand entrance of the Li mansion.
She hadn’t planned on coming here today because she didn’t want to face the mbers of the Li family. However, the case involving Li Ziyang had completely enraged her, compelling her to co despite her reservations. Now that she was here, she knew she had to face whatever needed to be confronted.
The mont Zeng Xiaoi entered the Li mansion, not far behind it on the rooftop of a neighboring building, Wu, Li Ziyang, and Li Ziming stood side by side. They didn’t leave imdiately but watched quietly from a distance as the police bustled in and out of the Li mansion.
They had just arrived, and for a Condensation period master to lead a Bone Tempering Period master and an ordinary person away under the surveillance of the ordinary police wasn’t particularly difficult.
Wu didn’t force them to leave but instead sighed and stood silently to the side.
Li Ziyang clenched his fists tightly, his eyes filled with an intense bitterness as he stared at the striking figure in the distance. He recognized her—it was Zeng Xiaoi of the Zeng Family, who worked in the criminal police force. He heard that it was their Zeng Family that had orchestrated this whole affair!
Li Ziming’s fists were also tightly clenched, his eyes rimd with unshed tears as he stared silently ahead, lips firmly pressed together. At this mont, for the first ti in his life, he felt an overwhelming urge to do sothing, to beco much stronger!
Wu, watching the last person being led out and the young woman entering the main door, knew that the next one to erge might be that person. What was inevitable would eventually co. Glancing at the two young n beside him, he said softly, "Let’s go."
"One day, I will definitely return!"
Li Ziyang took a deep breath as if saying it to himself or perhaps to the two beside him.
Li Ziming lifted his head, looked once at the intensely bitter Li Ziyang and then at the scene not too far away. A resolute glint flashed in his eyes, but he quickly lowered his head in silence, following in Wu’s steps.
......................
"Grandpa Li."
Zeng Xiaoi was not entirely unfamiliar with Li Wenchao. Although the Zeng and Li Families hadn’t interacted much lately, she would see him at one or two events each year, and had even received red envelopes from him.
Therefore, despite the drastic change in Li Wenchao, she recognized him at a glance—Li Wenchao sitting in the hall.
"I didn’t expect you to still call grandpa."
Li Wenchao slowly raised his head, looking at Zeng Xiaoi in front of him, a self-mocking smile appearing at the corner of his mouth, "I didn’t expect you to co in person. Does your Zeng Family, and you, really hate our Li Family that much?"
"Grandpa Li, you should understand that this was not done by our Zeng Family. We do not have the capacity for it," Zeng Xiaoi shook her head, remaining calm despite Li Wenchao’s sarcastic remark.
She indeed loathed the Li Family but wouldn’t say she hated them. Facing Li Wenchao, she didn’t want to provoke him too much.
Although she wasn’t afraid of the Li Family’s hatred—having foreseen all possible outcos from the mont her grandfather made that decision—she still felt the truth should be told, whether or not it was believed.
"Soone called , gave the material. As for who took those materials, and who the Li Family has wronged, Grandpa Li, you should be more aware than I am."
Li Wenchao fell silent. He had always doubted that the Zeng Family could have orchestrated this, as they lacked a clear motive. But if it wasn’t the Zeng Family, then who was it?
The Li Family had fallen, and he didn’t even know whose hand they had fallen by. He simply couldn’t accept it!
Who held such hatred towards the Li Family to seek total annihilation?
Li Wenchao’s fist clenched tight, his facial muscles twitched, and as he exhausted every thought in his mind, he could confirm it wasn’t the Zhao Family, Han Family, or the Zeng Family...
Chen Jianguo!
Suddenly, a na flashed through Li Wenchao’s mind.(To be continued. If you like this work, you are welco to vote for it at Qidian, your support is my greatest motivation.)
