Chapter 415: Jin Dongming’s Unease
In Jin Xiaohan’s eyes, the so-called law was essentially ignored, and his fear of any rules was extrely limited, or rather, non-existent. What he truly feared were only bone-deep pain and the actual might of a powerful fist.
Such a person was very frightening.
Even though he had been taught a severe lesson last ti, and Liu Sandao, Liu Guangyao as well, had taught him a lesson,
he found it hard to be certain for how long such a lesson would instill fear in him; he could not place Wang Qingqing’s safety on such uncertainty.
To protect Wang Qingqing, he was willing to do anything, even risk exposing his own identity, and attract the attention of the police like Zeng Xiaoi.
The distance from the Wang family to the Yanjiang Residential Area wasn’t particularly far; fortunately, the road wasn’t a congested main artery. Throughout the drive, apart from several long waits at traffic lights, they hardly encountered any traffic. It only took a little over twenty minutes by taxi, costing just over fifty yuan.
Upon arriving at the Yanjiang Residential Area, Xiao Yi didn’t go straight in but chose to get out at the entrance of the housing compound. After getting out, he didn’t go straight in either but walked towards a small path next to the compound.
The taxi driver carrying Xiao Yi, looking through the rearview mirror, saw that Xiao Yi didn’t enter the compound but walked along the side. A look of expected realization appeared on his face, then he sped away into the dust.
Xiao Yi’s gaze followed the taxi as it gradually sped away, a hint of indifference appearing on his face. His footsteps halted, he turned around, and slowly walked back towards the direction of the Yanjiang Residential Area, but not towards the main gate of the compound, rather towards its periter wall.
.........
I wonder how Xiaohan is doing over there.
Looking out the window at the gradually falling night and the lights of thousands of hos embellishing the age-old majestic river flowing through G City, Jin Dongming’s face inadvertently revealed a sense of finality.
His deanor appeared much aged.
He was no longer the figure of assertive authority and full of enthusiasm he used to display at the Jianguo Group; instead, he seed to have suddenly aged considerably, becoming a decrepit old man.
The recent events had been too nurous, forcing him to feel a profound sense of world-weariness.
Firstly, his perfect plan to seize control of Jianguo Group was suddenly disrupted, and not only that, but he was also forced to surrender all his shares in Jianguo Group. In an instant, the hope he had strived and planned for over many years vanished like a mirage.
Furthermore, he had experienced a terrifying ordeal.
The sheer powerlessness, helplessness, and fear that had completely immobilized him for hours still haunted him, often startling him awake in the dead of night.
Subsequently, his son had problems too, and repeatedly so. Not only did he lose millions, but soone also cruelly severed one of his fingers.
If the previous incident was like a harsh stab to his heart, this incident was a cruel slash at his vitals, almost suffocating him.
In his life, he had only one son. He did not love his wife, but he dearly loved this son.
Moreover, his son had always been obedient and intelligent, very much like him from a young age. His son had always been his pride.
At the sa ti, his son was also where his hopes lay.
But now, his son had beco embroiled in a crisis, and worse still, tangled up with an assassin, making him feel dread and choked with fear.
Assassins. Those who would dare to do anything, treating killing like butchering pigs, a routine affair. This ti, they rely chopped off his finger. What if one day they ca knocking to take his son’s life?
Initially, he had instinctively wanted to seek help from the Li family, hoping they would intervene. But his son refused and chose another path, successfully persuading him.
He knew his son was right. Even if he sought help from the Li family, they were unlikely to assist him. After the last incident, the Li family had abandoned him like a cast-off, constantly subjecting him to mockery and indifference as if he were a stranger, not the legitimate son-in-law of the Li family.
His son had said he wanted to go to the mountains to learn from a master, and he had eventually agreed. Apart from his son’s talk of revenge, he also hoped that once his son learned and returned, he might glorify the Jin Family, breathe a sigh of relief, and let the Li family know that the Jin family didn’t always have to live at their behest.
However, his son had always been by his side all these years; suddenly, his departure, coupled with his sudden job loss, left him feeling unaccustod and lonely.
Especially every day, as night fell and the streetlights ca on, that was when he struggled the most.
Xiao Yi...
All of this was because of that young man nad Xiao Yi...
Jin Dongming suddenly rembered that young man, the one who brought nightmare after nightmare to their family. His hands involuntarily clenched tightly, veins on his forehead bulging, his eyes revealing a mix of resentnt and fear.
I wonder how Xiaohan is doing with his training...
After a long mont, Jin Dongming’s face regained its calm, and he looked out the window at the colors of dusk, his eyes revealing a hint of longing.
For so reason, he suddenly recalled the day his son had left, the terrifying, bloodshot eyes with which he had looked at Xiao Yi. In those eyes, aside from hatred, there seed to be no other expression, and a faint unease began to stir within him.
This feeling of unease wasn’t new; several tis, he had uncontrollably thought of his son’s gaze and even jolted awake from sleep because of it.
Yet, why he felt uneasy, exactly what was the cause of this unease, he couldn’t pin down.
"Mr. Jin, it’s ti for dinner."
A sowhat deep voice interrupted Jin Dongming’s thoughts, and a sowhat skinny man with a wooden expression, who Jin Dongming hadn’t noticed before, appeared behind him, speaking respectfully.
"Oh, alright."
Jin Dongming turned around and looked at the man with the wooden expression, his face breaking into a relieved smile.
Since Jianguo Group’s plan had failed, the Li Family had almost completely abandoned him, and, for so reason, whether it was deliberate or they had just forgotten about this subordinate they had sent to ensure his safety, who occasionally also helped him with his tasks, they still let him stay by his side.
Over the years, Jin Dongming had co to depend heavily on him and naturally wouldn’t take the initiative to ntion this matter to them, pretending as if he knew nothing about it.
"Is everything ready over there?"
As he walked toward the door, Jin Dongming asked aloud.
"Everything is almost ready; we can move over in a couple of days," the wooden-faced man respectfully replied.
"That’s good."
Jin Dongming nodded slightly, a relieved expression crossing his face, and then he glanced around the comfortably furnished study with a trace of nostalgia.
This study had been arranged by him personally; every item was placed exactly according to his specifications.
He had labored here many days and nights...
Over the years, he had grown accustod to thinking here, reading here, even here... Despite experiencing a terrifying incident, he still spent most of his ti here, even more than in his bedroom...
But now, he had to leave this place, and perhaps he might never return here again.
He had already registered information with several large real estate companies and put out the word that he was selling this place.
Although he had completely followed Xiao Yi’s orders regarding the matter of Jianguo Group, even enduring the consequence of being abandoned by the Li Family and selling all his shares at a low price to Chen Jianguo, thus completely exiting from Jianguo Group, from what had transpired later, it seed neither Chen Jianguo nor Xiao Yi had pursued him further.
As for his son’s matter, from what his son had told him, it was his son who had provoked the other party, so if Xiao Yi and his group wanted revenge, they would likely target his son, not him.
Yet, he still felt that staying here was sowhat unbearable, feeling as if the once very proud and beloved place suddenly seed rather sinister, making him feel uncomfortable all over...
After much hesitation, he finally decided to leave this place, to leave G City, to move to another city...
"Mr. Jin, have you really decided?"
The wooden-faced man looked at Jin Dongming, hesitancy appearing in his eyes.
"Yes."
Jin Dongming nodded slightly.
"Actually, changing the environnt might be good."
The wooden-faced man hesitated, seemingly wanting to say sothing, but in the end, he said nothing and only sighed.
"Gentlen, we et again."
Just as the wooden-faced man had finished speaking, a calm voice suddenly sounded from behind the two.
Upon hearing this voice, the faces of both n changed almost simultaneously.
Both Jin Dongming and the wooden-faced man found the voice deeply morable, and almost at the sa ti, both turned with a look of horror towards the direction of the voice.
