——————————————————

When Xiao Yi arrived at the entrance to Wang Xiaohu’s hospital room, he imdiately saw Wang Qingqing and a group of students’ parents holding newspapers and gathered together, their faces brimming with joyful smiles as they discussed the content of the papers.

Seeing the brilliant and beautiful smile on Wang Qingqing’s face, a heartfelt smile appeared on Xiao Yi’s face.

Compared to the way he had felt on the way over, listening to their fervent discussions, in this mont, he felt much more at ease.

Because to him, they were just a group of strangers, or rather, irrelevant people, while Li Xiaoi and Wang Qingqing were people he knew, his friends. What did it matter what irrelevant people did?

How could they compare to a single smile from soone he knew and cared about?

As long as he and the people he cared about were happy, that was enough!

"Xiao Yi, you’re here too!"

Wang Qingqing, who was standing in a spot that directly faced the entrance of the ward, turned her head unintentionally and caught sight of Xiao Yi standing at the door, smiling at her. She couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise, put down the newspaper in her hand, and walked up to et Xiao Yi.

"Yes, I ca to check in."

Xiao Yi smiled, his grin sunny and pure.

"Classmate Xiao is so thoughtful, co in and have a seat."

Li Xiaoi also hurriedly ca over with warmth, welcod Xiao Yi, and offered her own stool.

"Auntie, please don’t stand on ceremony, you sit, I just want to see how Xiaohu’s injury is healing."

Xiao Yi smiled and politely declined Li Xiaoi’s offer to sit, turning his head to look at Wang Xiaohu on the hospital bed and smiling at him, "How are you feeling, better?"

"Much better."

Wang Xiaohu on the bed was no longer wrapped up as tightly as before, with half his face now visible and his complexion looking sowhat better. Hearing Xiao Yi’s question, he let out a soft hum, and Li Xiaoi at his side voiced a response for him.

"That’s good."

As Xiao Yi spoke, he casually picked up the dical record lying in front of the bed, glanced through it, and nodded emphatically from ti to ti.

"The recovery is really quite remarkable, even better than I anticipated. It seems that Xiaohu had a good physical foundation before, haha."

After finishing with the dical record, Xiao Yi turned his head back to Wang Xiaohu in the bed, giving him a look of approval.

From the description in the dical record, Wang Xiaohu’s recovery was indeed much faster than most people’s. Even taking into account the help from his Carefree True Qi, his own natural healing abilities were also credited.

"Well, of course, Xiaohu has always been in great shape. He was the sports champion of his class and the sports committee mber," Wang Qingqing said with a hint of pride on her face when she heard Xiao Yi’s comnt.

A glimr of self-satisfaction also appeared in the eyes of the bedridden Wang Xiaohu; he was obviously very confident about his physical condition.

"Oh, really? That’s impressive."

Xiao Yi showed a look of surprise to Wang Xiaohu.

"Yeah, he’s also a key mber of the school’s basketball team. Oh, Xiao Yi, let’s not talk about this right now, I have so great news to tell you."

Wang Qingqing laughed with no small asure of pride, then her gaze fell on the newspaper beside her. Excitedly, she grabbed the paper and extended it towards Xiao Yi, saying, "Look at this news, this Li Xiaohan, is the bastard who hurt Xiaohu! It’s divine retribution, really; last night, they encountered two car accidents, father and son, and both t Yama!"

"Oh, really? That’s really great."

Looking at Wang Qingqing excitedly sharing this terrific news with him as if he didn’t know already, Xiao Yi feigned curiosity, peering at the newspaper before letting out a surprised exclamation.

"Yes, you have no idea, that father and son pair were rotten to the core. His father, let’s not even start; who knows how many conscienceless things he did. And this Li Xiaohan, so young, just a teenager, and already committing terrible deeds, he deserved this divine punishnt. Did you know, about that incident, this scoundrel actually had soone else take the fall for him in jail! Then he himself ran out to threaten and intimidate my uncle!"

Wang Qingqing’s face was filled with indignation as she cursed in pain, her anger overflowing.

"People like this, they truly deserve it."

Xiao Yi looked at Wang Qingqing’s expression and smiled gently.

"Yes, they deserve to be taken by heaven. Last ti we were saying that such people would be punished by heaven, and it seems that this ti, heaven finally opened its eyes and heard our hearts."

The parent with the surna Niu beside them laughed heartily in agreent.

"Exactly, heaven really did open its eyes this ti. Such evil scumbags should have been dealt with long ago. I thought they had only hard us, but did you see? They’ve hurt so many others too, those poor girls had it even worse!"

"Yeah... I hope that heaven opens its eyes more and takes away more of these scumbags."

"......"

The people around them also joined in, discussing heatedly.

Listening to their simple discussions, the innocent gratitude towards the Heavens, and their expectations, Xiao Yi smiled slightly at the corner of his mouth but let out a soft sigh. He didn’t know if there were gods or a heaven, but he did know that what happened this ti wasn’t the work of heaven or gods. He also didn’t know if heaven or gods could hear their innocent hopes. Yet, in his heart, he knew that in this world, there were countless people like Li Zhengyi and Li Xiaohan, and even people far more evil who were still living comfortably.

However, he didn’t say anything nor did he plan to shatter their views or affect the atmosphere because, what else could they do besides hold onto these simple hopes?

For a mont, looking at those innocent faces, Xiao Yi’s heart stirred slightly, contemplating whether he should do sothing for them.

But imdiately, he dismissed the thought.

To do his part and live comfortably along with those around him was enough for him. As for being a justice-seeking Ultraman, he’d leave that to others.

Just like the old man’s disrespectful behavior, his character wasn’t that of Ultraman’s either. He preferred to be carefree, following his own heart and desires, like his passion for traditional Chinese dicine. He could spend days and nights without food or drink studying it, researching a new treatnt thod or acupuncture technique. He would stand up when he saw traditional Chinese dicine treated unfairly and use it to treat patients, showing the world its usefulness and power. But he never had any intention of seriously revitalizing traditional Chinese dicine for the sake of becoming a national hero.

After staying in the hospital room for a while, Wang Qingqing and Xiao Yi bid farewell to Li Xiaoi and left the room.

"Xiao Yi, do you think I’m sotis foolish?"

Walking down the hospital corridor, they were silent for a while before Wang Qingqing suddenly asked.

"Ah? No, why would you think that?"

Xiao Yi was startled, looking at Wang Qingqing in surprise, wondering why she would suddenly say such a thing.

"Xiao Yi, actually, I’m well aware that many things in this world are hard to change. So things aren’t as easy as I would like them to be. For instance, I caught a thief for soone, and yet that person refused to admit anything was stolen, even though that person was a lawyer. I also know that there are many people like Li Family’s father and son, and that the world is far from as bright and clear as I imagined."

Wang Qingqing smiled at Xiao Yi, then her gaze returned to the blue and white sky in the distance, speaking wistfully.

"But you know what? I still want to believe that this world is bright and clear, and even if there are blemishes, I hope that one day with my own hands, I can wipe the sky clean!"

Wang Qingqing’s gaze slowly beca brighter, her voice more crisp and forceful.

"Thinking this way, am I being a bit foolish?"

After saying this, Wang Qingqing turned her head, looking expectantly at Xiao Yi.

"Not at all, anyone who thinks you’re foolish is the real fool. You are a brave girl, and I believe that one day, this sky will definitely beco different because of you!"

Looking into her pure face, his heart felt a profound, indescribable shock for the first ti. It turned out that this kind girl knew and understood everything, yet she chose to keep believing in her own truth, kindness, and beauty!

In his eyes there was a firm light as he seriously said that at this mont, his words weren’t just to comfort her, but a genuine belief that she could make it happen, or at least, he hoped she could!

"Thank you, Xiao Yi, I believe I will do it too, just like my dad always says to , dirt and darkness can never overco light and cleanliness!"

Wang Qingqing, looking into Xiao Yi’s determined and encouraging eyes, felt a warm and touched feeling in her heart. A radiant smile spread across her face.

This really was a great father!

Xiao Yi stared at Wang Qingqing’s bright and beautiful smile, mind drifting back to Li Zhengyi and Li Xiaohan from the night before, he sighed softly within. The distance between people can’t be asured in miles; these two pairs were undeniably as different as heaven and earth. (To be continued.
