"Since you know those people are even more brutal than I imagined, if I can’t handle them, how could you possibly handle them if I told you?" Xiao Yi muttered to himself silently, but he only said it in his mind, nodding his head in response, "I will, and you be careful too."

"Goodbye!"

Zhang Yuhan wanted to say sothing more, but ultimately, she just said goodbye.

"Goodbye!"

Xiao Yi looked at Zhang Yuhan with so surprise in his eyes, sensing that she had beco sowhat odd since coming out of the Western restaurant. Her words and the way she spoke were strange, but seeing that she didn’t say anything else, he didn’t ask further. He just nodded, said goodbye, and then turned to walk back towards Azure Waterfront.

As he watched Xiao Yi’s figure gradually disappear under the dim lights, Zhang Yuhan took a deep breath. A decisive expression flickered across her usually serene face. She pulled out her cell phone, but when she held it in her hand, she hesitated, staring at the keyboard for a long ti, her expressions continuously changing. After nearly five minutes, she bit her lip and rapidly started dialing on the keyboard.

"Han, is that you?"

An older, sowhat deep voice, filled with a heavy sense of age and weariness, soon ca through the phone.

"It’s , Grandpa Gu. Grandpa has gone to bed, hasn’t he?"

Hearing this familiar and kind voice, Zhang Yuhan took a deep breath, her voice tender as she spoke. She knew that every night at this ti, her grandpa would be sleeping in his wicker chair.

"The old man just watched so TV and then went to bed; he just closed his eyes. Is there sothing you need? Should I wake him up to take the call?"

On the other end of the phone, an elderly man, his face wrinkled and back slightly hunched, glanced at the loft where another old man was lying on a wicker chair, his hair and beard both gray, and his eyes closed in sleep, turned back and asked.

"No need, Grandpa Gu, let grandpa sleep since he just closed his eyes. Don’t disturb him,"

Zhang Yuhan, hearing the old man going to wake up Grandpa, quickly stopped him, "I’ll just talk to grandpa so other day."

"Oh, that’s good too, Han. Is there sothing you wanted to talk about today?"

The old man nodded and stopped his motion to go wake the elder, then asked into the phone.

Hearing the old man’s question, Zhang Yuhan rembered her reason for calling today. She took a slow breath and said gravely, "Grandpa Gu, I was targeted for assassination today, I need your help."

"I understand, I’ll arrange it right away."

Upon hearing Zhang Yuhan’s words, the elder’s eyes, nearly completely squeezed shut by wrinkles, giving the impression they may not even see, suddenly snapped open, revealing a sharp cold glint. The mont his eyes opened, a powerful aura enveloped him from his small, slightly hunched body, making him seem suddenly like the most dazzling entity between heaven and earth.

But it was only for a very brief mont that the old man’s commanding presence reappeared before it vanished again, his eyes narrowing once more, returning to that cloudy gaze of old age. His entire deanor reverted back to that of a slightly stooped, ordinary old man who one would overlook imdiately after seeing him.

After softly uttering a sentence, he didn’t give Zhang Yuhuan a chance to say goodbye and hung up the phone directly. The mont he put down the phone, he murmured in a chilly tone, "It’s been many years since I last opened my eyes, and it seems so people really do think us old n are blind."

I have already given you a chance!

Hearing the beep of the disconnected call in her ear, Zhang Yuhuan stared blankly for a long ti before slowly putting away the phone, a complex look flashing in her eyes as she muttered to herself, then turned and crossed over to the opposite side of the street, flagged down a taxi, and got in.

...

Back at Azure Waterfront, after a comfortable shower, Xiao Yi lay on his bed, pondering Zhang Yuhuan’s expression when they had parted ways earlier. A slew of doubts arose in his mind; this girl seed to be growing more complicated by the minute.

At first, she struck him as a very sweet and simple ordinary girl who sohow got entangled with so formidable person wanting to silence her repeatedly—an assessnt firmly based on her modest attire, far from glamorous, and the fact that she was almost always carrying books. However, her behavior when they went to the restaurant for Western food that afternoon, along with their conversation, changed his mind.

Her mannerisms and habits while dining were like those honed to perfection, naturally exuding an air of sophistication that ordinary girls lacked. Moreover, ordinary girls wouldn’t possess the kind of gold card she had in her hand, a bank’s Supre Card. He too had one, tossed to him by the old man to ensure he wouldn’t face a financial crisis.

What exactly was her identity?

And who would want to kill her?

Based on her expression earlier, she seed to have a clear understanding, at least a considerable one, of the person wanting to kill her.

Also, the things she told him on their way back, thinking about them now, could it be that she claid them with so backing?

If her troubles weren’t because she had angered soone and was being targeted for assassination, but for so other reason, getting involved could be really troubleso, sigh!

Well, forget it, whether it invites trouble or not, it’s already upon him, so musing about it is pointless.

After pondering for a while, Xiao Yi couldn’t discern the rationale behind everything, as all of it was rely his own baseless conjecture, which was aningless—everything should be approached as it cos.

Shaking his head, Xiao Yi cast all these distracting thoughts out of his mind, preparing to start cultivating.

Desperately increasing his strength was the ultimate way.

But just as he was about to begin practicing the ntal thod, his phone suddenly rang insistently.

Xiao Yi picked up his phone and imdiately a look of surprise crossed his face, seeing the na "Shen Xiaoxiao" on the display brought a mory of the beautiful woman he had encountered in his housing complex and that romantically picturesque morning. His cheeks reddened slightly before he pressed the answer key with a calm and steady voice, "Hello, this is Xiao Yi."(To be continued.
