——————————————Fortunately, just when everyone felt their spirits couldn’t handle the stimulation, Xiao Yi spoke to comfort everyone.
"It’s not cured yet; I’ve only stopped the pain. You’ll need a real doctor to check this out. Wait a minute; I’ll call a doctor right now."
Xiao Yi saw the incredulous expressions on Li Xiaoi and Wang Qingqing’s faces and smiled. At the end of his statent, his gaze turned aningfully towards Director Wang, who had seated himself, relieved. His disease—he could cure it himself, but he had decided that he couldn’t let this doctor continue to get away with it. This ti, he was determined to strike a severe blow at this rotten elent among the doctors, and teach him a lifelong lesson.
After saying this, he took out his mobile phone and dialed a number.
When Wang Qingqing heard Xiao Yi’s words, she was montarily stunned. What did he an he would call a doctor right now? Wasn’t there already a doctor here?
But seeing Xiao Yi holding the phone, she felt embarrassed to interrupt him and decided to wait until he had finished the call.
Li Xiaoi, upon hearing that her illness wasn’t cured after all, lost the joy she had felt monts ago. She looked at Xiao Yi wanting to ask for clarification but, seeing him with the phone, felt it awkward to inquire.
"Hello, Grandpa An? It’s Yi. Yes, I’m at the Provincial People’s Hospital. No, it’s not ; it’s a friend of mine. Yes, in the ergency room. Yes, there’s a doctor... Okay, I’ll wait for you!"
Xiao Yi spoke rapidly on the phone, uttering only a few sentences before he hung up. He turned to Li Xiaoi and Wang Qingqing and smiled, "Alright, I just made a call and the doctor will be here in ten minutes."
"Do you know a doctor here?"
Wang Qingqing asked in surprise.
"Sort of. Actually, it’s soone my grandfather knows."
Xiao Yi smiled.
"Yay, that’s wonderful! Let’s wait a bit, Aunt. This doctor doesn’t seem like reliable stock; we shouldn’t let him treat you."
Wang Qingqing, having heard Xiao Yi’s words, guessed that he just knew a doctor who had once t his grandfather, not soone particularly well-acquainted. She didn’t elaborate further, worried about embarrassing Xiao Yi, and expressed her happiness openly.
Her joy wasn’t feigned. Although Xiao Yi and that doctor might only have a superficial relationship, at least he had agreed to co treat the illness, and since he knew him, it was probably easier to speak with him. Besides, even if a worse-mannered doctor ca along, she preferred that over continuing with Doctor Wang, whom she had grown to detest deeply. For now, her aunt seed pain-free.
"Um, thank you so much," Li Xiaoi said.
She had never liked that doctor, only enduring him from fear of not getting treated. Now, hearing that a familiar doctor would co to treat her, she imdiately beca joyful, though her expression showed a slight guilt for having doubted Xiao Yi and blad him earlier.
"Hmph, if you’re not getting treated, then hurry up and get out. There are people waiting at the door!"
Director Wang, who hadn’t expected Xiao Yi to know soone from the hospital, suddenly turned livid. Seeing their joyful expressions only infuriated him further.
"Alright, let’s go outside and wait at the door. We don’t want to disturb the great divine doctor Wang while he’s treating patients."
With a faint smile, Xiao Yi turned and walked out.
"Let’s go, Auntie, let’s wait at the entrance."
Wang Qingqing grabbed her aunt and they walked out, huffing angrily at the doctor as they left.
"This is outrageous!"
Doctor Wang watched Wang Qingqing huffing and almost rolled his eyes back in frustration, finally slamming his hand on the desk hard.
"Director Wang, don’t be angry. Getting upset over these country folks isn’t worth it. Besides, I bet they’ll co crawling back to you soon enough,"
the nurse said with a cold laugh, looking toward the door.
"What do you an?"
Doctor Wang looked at the nurse, puzzled. He still didn’t understand—everyone said they had connections, so why would they co back to him? Moreover, how could they possibly return?
"Director Wang, you’ve been working at the hospital for so many years. Think about it—do we have a Doctor An here? I’ve never heard of one."
The nurse said with a sycophantic smile.
"Ah, why didn’t I think of that? It seems that kid was just bluffing!"
Once the nurse said this, Director Wang quickly realized what was going on, smacked the back of his head, and started laughing with delight.
"Exactly, that kid just wanted to show off in front of his girlfriend, huh! Let’s see how he gets out of this one."
The nurse snorted disdainfully.
"Haha, not bad, you’re sharp and professional. Keep up the good work; I definitely won’t forget your contribution."
Director Wang nodded in approval and said to the nurse. Then, looking toward the door, his eyes revealed a fierce gleam, "If these country bumpkins don’t co back, fine, but if they do, I’ll make sure they suffer!"
Xiao Yi, Wang Qingqing, and Li Xiaoi stepped outside and chatted for a while. Wang Qingqing asked Li Xiaoi about her sudden illness and the process of coming for treatnt. Within minutes, they heard a commotion in the corridor ahead, and both stopped talking and turned to look.
Turning around, they saw an elderly man with graying hair and scholarly glasses but a straight posture, striding toward them, followed by a dozen people all in white coats. Closest to him was a young man holding an old-fashioned dicine chest that one might only see in historical dramas.
Could there be so VIP here who was ill?
But there hadn’t seed to be any monts before.
Seeing this spectacle, Wang Qingqing couldn’t help but feel curious and a bit gossipy. It wasn’t her first ti seeing such a scene. In movies and TV shows, whenever there was a VIP ill, the hospital would be thrown into chaos, with the hospital director personally directing a group of specialists in a ticulous consultation and diagnosis, and then convening a eting to decide on the best treatnt plan.
Although she didn’t know whether the director himself was involved this ti, and it wasn’t as hectic as in the movies, the scene was sowhat similar—the group drew the gaze of almost everyone they passed.
