When Ni Chang opened her eyes, she was surprised to find Lin Fan lying next to her.

Although he was still motionless, his handso visage made her heart race involuntarily.

However, she quickly realized sothing was amiss and hurriedly sat up.

After all, this was Ning ngyao and Lin Fan’s bed, and she should not be lying here.

"You’re awake!"

At the sound of movent, Ning ngyao’s voice ca from under the bed.

She, with her yoga mat, was actually sleeping on the floor on the other side of the bed.

"I’m sorry... I... I lay in your bed!"

Ni Chang quickly rolled out of bed.

Last night, although she had severely injured Master Miejue, she too had been gravely hurt.

She had soon passed out and was unaware of what had happened afterward.

"What’s there to be sorry about? It’s just a bed. Besides, it was I who made the decision to let you lie next to Lin Fan. If anyone should say sorry, it should be . Ni Chang, you don’t mind, do you?"

Ning ngyao quickly walked over and took Ni Chang’s hand, saying, "After you fainted, I didn’t have the strength to carry you sowhere else, so I could only let you lie on my bed for a while. No matter how you look at it, you’re my lifesaver. I don’t know how to thank you enough."

"It was my duty, of course I don’t mind... I think Jiaqi wouldn’t either!"

Ni Chang said, her cheeks flushed as she looked at Ning ngyao.

Though this arrangent was born of necessity, it at least confird one thing.

She did not oppose her feelings for Lin Fan.

"How are your injuries? It seems that the other party must have been beaten quite badly. They probably won’t be coming back for a short period, so do you want to rest for a couple of days before we figure out how to save Lin Fan?"

Ning ngyao’s warm concern was truly heartwarming.

Ni Chang hastily shook her head and said, "We really can’t wait any longer. Tonight is the fifteenth day of the lunar month, and I need to use the moonlight to perform the Soul Returning Skill. Although this formation is ancient, it should be effective. If we miss this chance, we’d have to wait another month, and by then, who knows if Lin Fan’s condition might worsen. We should hurry."

"Alright, then tell what you need, and I’ll have soone go out and buy it right away."

Ning ngyao asked eagerly.

"That... I’m afraid you won’t be able to find those items. Don’t worry, Zheng Tianxiang ca back with this ti. I’ll give him a call, he should be able to get the things needed for the ritual."

Ni Chang didn’t delay and imdiately made a phone call to Zheng Tianxiang.

She then listed the items needed for the ritual tonight.

"No problem, I’ll make sure they’re delivered by this afternoon."

After hanging up, Zheng Tianxiang imdiately set out to gather the items.

After all, these items, although not rare, were all antiques within the trade.

"Then it’s settled, let’s go have breakfast."

Having finished her arrangents, Ning ngyao then took Ni Chang’s hand and walked out of the bedroom toward the dining room.

Ning Zhenyue and Ms. Li were already sitting there, sowhat astonished to see Zhao Jiaqi walk in.

Living in the back courtyard, they naturally didn’t know what had occurred.

"Grandfather, this is my friend who ca to visit Lin Fan and will stay with for a couple of days," explained Ning ngyao simply.

"Sit down, Ms. Li just brought back so fresh fried dough sticks."

Ning Zhenyue naturally didn’t ask further, but he had his own thoughts about it.

"Today is really nice, quite peaceful."

After Ning ngyao had Ni Chang sit down, she imdiately urged her to start eating.

At the sa ti, she felt relieved that Ning Changfeng, the annoying presence, was not there, saving everyone the nuisance.

Ning Zhenyue and Ms. Li naturally understood the implication of her words.

These past few days, it had been Ms. Li who delivered breakfast to East Cross Court, and the careful Ning ngyao even insisted that two servings be delivered, just to prevent Ning Changfeng from becoming suspicious.

"Ms. Li, you go to so trouble, take so food to that beast."

During the alti, Ning Zhenyue said to Ms. Li with so reluctance.

"Ms. Li, don’t listen to Grandfather."

But opposed to expectations, Ning ngyao imdiately interrupted, "He’s just faking illness. Starving him for a few als is actually a good thing. Besides, doesn’t he have a son by his side? Let his son take care of his own father. Why should we help him fulfill his filial duties?"

"Chang Feng went out yesterday, and it seems he hasn’t co back yet."

Ms. Li stood there sowhat troubled, caught between going and staying.

"He hasn’t co back!"

Upon hearing this, Ning ngyao suddenly frowned.

This guy didn’t co ho all night, and there was an assassination attempt in the dead of night; it was too much of a coincidence.

A trace of doubt made her suddenly widen her eyes.

"You haven’t told that beast about Lin Fan falling ill, have you?"

"No way, how could we say that? And these past few days, I haven’t even spoken to him!"

Ning Zhenyue shook his head in denial.

"You told about it, and I kept it to myself, never bringing it up."

Ms. Li also hastily denied it; she wouldn’t engage in idle chatter with such people.

"Strange, how can it be such a coincidence?"

Since the elders didn’t ntion it, Ning ngyao could only furrow her brows, but the coincidence was too hard to explain away.

"Then, did he sneak any peeks at East Cross Court yesterday?"

"No, he wasn’t ho yesterday afternoon either. I heard Sun Yang say he was invited out to eat as an apology, but it was wrapped up hastily!"

Mrs. Li’s words made Ning ngyao’s eyes go wide.

"Ms. Li, tell the truth, does Sun Yang know about Lin Fan being ill?"

"I... I mumbled to him once, saying that no good deed goes unpunished, and ntioned how hard you were looking after Lin Fan..."

Ms. Li hesitated, but after so thought, she still confessed.

After all, a mother’s heart is connected to her child’s, there was no way she wouldn’t discuss such a family matter with her own son.

After hearing all this, Ning ngyao clenched her fists tightly. She had only told Grandfather and Ms. Li, forgetting about Sun Yang, and then imdiately dialed Sun Yang’s phone number.

"Sun Yang, when you dined with Ning Changfeng last night, did he ask you anything about Lin Fan?"

"He... he didn’t ask, just ntioned how Lin Fan suddenly fell ill with sothing so serious..."

Sun Yang hurriedly recounted the previous night’s events from beginning to end.

Not waiting to hear the end, Ning ngyao hung up the phone and slamd her bowl and chopsticks down on the table.

"I knew those damned people wouldn’t just co ho for no reason, still talking about turning over a new leaf, when they were actually out spying on Lin Fan’s condition. They truly deserve to die!"

"ngyao... what... what exactly happened?"

Seeing his granddaughter’s furious ltdown, Ning Zhenyue also asked with so concern.

"What else could it be? It’s because you were too soft-hearted and let those two dogs into our ho... They found out about Lin Fan’s injury and went out to inform on us, allowing assassins to co attempt to kill last night. If it hadn’t been for Ni Chang, Lin Fan and I would have probably not escaped with our lives!"

In that mont, Ning ngyao was so angry she couldn’t control herself.

After blaming her grandfather, she rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and headed straight for the West Cross Court.

Today, she was determined to slaughter Ning Bingcai, the backstabber.
