The night was pleasant.

However, the Yang family’s ho was brightly lit at this mont.

Mr. Yang sat upright in the living room.

His expression was as still as water.

Yang Tianfang and Yang Tianqi, the two brothers, also sat by his side.

Constantly glancing at the gold watches on their wrists.

None of the three father and sons spoke a word.

They just sat there with their brows tightly furrowed.

It was clear they were waiting for sothing.

"Grandpa, Dad, I’m back."

When Yang Linglong entered the living room, she too was startled by the scene.

After leaving Lin Fan, she didn’t go straight ho.

Instead, feeling troubled, she took a walk by the river.

To calm her chaotic thoughts.

It was already the early morning hours, why was her early sleeping grandfather still sitting here?

"Linglong, you’re back," said Mr. Yang upon seeing Linglong, his eyebrows twitching slightly.

"Yes, Grandpa, it’s so late, you’re not asleep because there’s sothing to discuss, right? Then I’ll go upstairs first."

Yang Linglong pursed her lips.

She took a step to leave but was stopped by Yang Tianfang’s call.

"Linglong, we were actually waiting for you," he said.

"Waiting for ? What for?"

Yang Linglong stopped and looked at the three with puzzled expressions on their faces.

Having an inkling, she couldn’t help but frown slightly.

"I don’t want you to interfere with my affairs with Lin Fan anymore. If you really push to break up, then I will... run away from ho!"

Just thinking about how Lin Fan had rendered Grandpa speechless today.

Yang Linglong felt uneasy yet extraordinarily determined.

"My precious girl, who’s talking about breaking up?"

Yang Tianqi quickly stood up and approached Yang Linglong.

He pleaded earnestly, "That young man has quite significant potential; you’ve truly found a gem. We were just discussing when to invite him over to talk about wedding arrangents."

"Uncle, aren’t you being too opportunistic?"

Yang Linglong felt disgusted looking at Yang Tianqi’s behavior.

He had previously put on the sa face to lick Liu Mo’s boots.

"This isn’t about being opportunistic; it’s about going with the flow."

Seeing her father and elder brother remain silent.

Yang Tianqi could only put on a forced smile and say, "After all, a man should marry when of age as should a woman. Your grandfather and father also wish to find you a good family, don’t they? After all, you said it yourself, he has visited our ho a few tis. Since the deed is done, we can’t be breaking up a pair of lovers now. Let’s all sit down and have a proper talk. In the future, there’s no need to sneak in through the window; just enter the house openly and properly."

"Uncle, my love life is none of your business, right? My dad isn’t dead yet," said Yang Linglong as she rolled her eyes.

Up to this point, neither Grandpa nor her father had taken a stand.

This was frankly intolerable.

"Linglong, how can you speak to your uncle like that?"

Yang Tianfang knew that if he didn’t speak up now, this daughter of his might say who knows what next.

At this point, only he could say it.

"You only heard talking to your uncle. Have you forgotten how you all spoke to Lin Fan before?"

Yang Linglong, with her arms folded, wore a face full of indignation.

"When he saved Grandfather, what was your attitude? When he visited our ho, how did you treat him? Didn’t you judge him by his social status and look down on him, even going so far as to put up with the humiliation from the Liu family with a forced smile? Now that you know Lin Fan is capable, you want to invite him over. Where were you before?"

Yang Linglong herself was naturally an extroverted person.

Her words were like rapid gunfire.

She left Yang Tianfang speechless.

He could only look towards Mr. Yang.

"Linglong, don’t beat around the bush. Just aim your complaints at if you have any," said Mr. Yang finally.

He knew that Yang Linglong’s repeated words

were really about him.

"Grandfather, it’s not about you. I’m just speaking to the issue. Everyone knows what you’ve done to Lin Fan before, and the fact that Lin Fan is willing to help us now can be considered repaying evil with good."

Yang Linglong still had so reservations about her grandfather.

When she spoke, her voice dropped by several degrees.

"Your previous attitude, and now this new one, now that you know his worth. Forget what he might think—I can’t even respect myself anymore. All day long you talk about whom I should marry; is it really for my benefit or for your own?"

"Linglong, I know you have a lot of grievances. We did go too far with the previous matter," admitted Mr. Yang, who had always been accustod to being strong-willed.

Surprisingly, he took the initiative to admit his mistake.

"I must say that being mocked like this today truly makes feel ashad. It’s been many years since I left the military. I pride myself on being an old soldier, fearing neither hardship nor exhaustion. Yet having tumbled in the comrcial battlefield, all my sharp edges have been smoothed out. At so point, I forgot that pride I once had and lost touch with the heart I should have as a soldier."

Mr. Yang paused and then said, "Although the kid is arrogant, it’s his carefree nature that catches the eye. My dislike for him wasn’t because he had nothing going for him; instead, it was because he always reminded of myself when I had just left the military. Back then, I was also looked down upon, with the expectation that one day I would make everyone take notice. Without realizing it, I ended up becoming the very person I despised most. Indeed, I have been a coward."

"Grandfather, don’t talk like that... I know, you miss my brother," said Yang Linglong, her eyes reddening as she listened to her grandfather’s regrets.

When her brother had joined the military, he smiled so happily.

"Yes, I miss your brother. If he were alive, he surely could have made sothing of himself, and wouldn’t have beco a coward like our generation, slowly turning into a bunch of softies. We broke the knees that he never bowed till his death!"

Mr. Yang sighed deeply.

Turning to look at Yang Linglong, he said, "I know you think we’re too materialistic and judgental, but to be frank, it’s a matter of necessity. Life isn’t fair to many, and while so look down on and resent the wealthy, don’t forget—the hospital may save a dying villain, no matter how heinous, but... it definitely won’t save a poor man. So, you should realize that money is essential to life. Without it, affections are as insubstantial as an unreal dream, or else we wouldn’t hear of the sorrow of a poor couple."

"Grandfather, I understand your good intentions. Don’t worry, Lin Fan is capable of taking good care of ," said Yang Linglong as she wiped away her tears.

She sat down beside her grandfather.

Holding his aged hand, she truly felt his concern.

"It’s actually quite good. Although I’ve lost so useless pride, my Linglong has found soone who can protect her. That’s enough for . So, find so ti in the next few days to bring him over, and I’ll have a proper drink with him."

Mr. Yang patted Yang Linglong’s hand.

Once the conflict was resolved, it was natural for the family to co together in harmony.

"Alright!"

To have her family’s approval

left Yang Linglong feeling bittersweet.

After all, Lin Fan was a married man.

If their relationship was made public, it could be troubleso.
