A refreshing fragrance assailed Zhan Chen's nose as Shui Liying embraced Zhan Chen tightly. From the quivering of her body, Zhan Chen could understand how much she was worried about him.
The last attack of the devil emperor was mighty. Shui Liying felt helpless and threatened infront of such a strange attack. But Zhan Chen courageously faced such an attack and salvaged the situation. Shui Liying felt so much worried and nervous that her body was quivering.
"Liying, have not I told you, emperors can't do anything to ? But I am still promising you, I will not be reckless next ti I fight", Zhan Chen coaxed Shui Liying with a tender expression in his eyes.
He gently caressed her back as Shui Liying embraced him. It was rare for her to lose calm infront of any adversary but her attachnt and love for him, made her so much nervous.

"Husband, we should take a look at the Grey ash city. I have a premonition that the devil emperor's apperance in the outskirt of the city is no coincidence", Shui Liying spoke after separating herself from Zhan Chen. A trace of worry appeared in her eyes as she looked towards the distant Grey ash city.
"Let's take a look", Zhan Chen nodded his head. Before sending away the devil emperor, he had already probed their motive. The devil emperor revealed what he knew while he was fleeing from their fighting location. They had a soul connection. So, it was easier for them to communicate even though they were far apart in distance.
According to the devil emperor, it was not only the Grey ash city, that was being attacked at this ti rather the devil were attacking almost every forward base at the sa ti. He was incharge of looking after the Grey ash city matters. So, he was not sure about the arrangent in other bases.
"What these devils are actually planning? I have a bad feeling about it", Zhan Chen thought to himself while hurrying towards the Grey ash city along with Shui Liying. He thought about different possibilities while following behind Shui Liying in the air.
"What is going on here?", Shui Liying exclaid as they approached closer to the city. From their distance, she could sense multiple powerful auras clashing against eachother.
She increased her flying speed and finally her eyes fell upon the Grey ash city. Once majestic city walls had crumbled, replaced by broken pieces of walls everywhere. There was a chaotic fighting going on which could be only terd as cruel and brutal.
Human experts and devil emperys were raining attacks against eachother. The fierceness in their eyes were charging the very air with a suffocating and brutal feeling.
Previously, the human cultivators were caught off-guard by the attacking devils but this ti they were slightly accoustod to the craziness and bloodthirstiness of the devils. The human cultivators in the Grey ash city had superiority in numbers. So, they were not at all afraid by the intruding devils. With the lead of Ying Chao as the general, all of them were fighting fiercely with the devils.
Their confidence bolstered when the Lu family joined the battle. The Lu family was badly weakened in the previous wave of battle but they still joined the battle in the Grey ash city which bolstered the confidence of the Grey ash city cultivators.
There were corpses everywhere but surprisingly, the devil corpses were more in number compared to the human fatality. Human cultivators had learned their lesson in the previous battle. They knew they couldn't afford to be weakminded in the battle against the devils. With the lesson they had learned in the previous battle and their superiority in number, they managed to effectively counterattack the fierce devils.
The battle raged on despite many warriors from both human side and devil side were grievously injured. There was no limit to the craziness of the devils but they couldn't overpower the united human warriors who were superior in number. Various elental attack and battle techniques were colliding against eachother which made the battle more chaotic.
"Stop", suddenly a voice ca out in the midst of the battle. The voice was like a rumbling drum which reached the ears of every warrior fighting.
A suffocating aura pressed upon the battlefield as Shui Liying appeared in the distant sky. It took her only few monts before she could approach the battlefield.
"A late Law glimpse realm expert!", the heavenly tribulation realm experts in the devil side felt like their hearts were sinking in the abyss. No matter how courageous they were, they were no match for a late Law glimpse realm expert.
Contrary to the panick in the devils' side, human side was cheering. Ying Chao took a breath of relief after seeing the goddess like lady in the sky.
"It is the peak master of the Serene bamboo peak."
"With her, the devil side will be defeated in no ti."

Human experts started to talk among themselves. Their courage and hope increased after they saw the brilliant appearance of Shui Liying.
"You treacherous devils! Just what exactly you are trying to accomplish? It has been only few days, yet you have already attacked us two tis", Shui Liying furiously looked towards the devil expert.

But don't worry, I will make sure to find so ti and co to play with you. For now, we are leaving", the devil expert spoke. He was using so strange thod to mask himself from other people's soul consciousness.
"Devil warriors, retreat", suddenly voice of another devil emperor ca out. Unlike the previous devil expert, who like to hide himself, this devil emperor ca out in open.
Zhan Chen who had already entered the Grey ash city, looked at the devil emperor who had appeared in the sky. This devil emperor was three ter tall and had four hands. His muscles were bulging and it seed like he had an endless strength to rely on. But strangely, he had a deep cut on his chest which appeared fresh to everyone. Blood was still seeping out from his chest when he ordered the devil warriors to retreat.
"Junior sister, let them pass. This battle is aningless at this point", Shui Liying received a soul communication in her head. It was Yang Yukong, the peak master of the Sword peak who talked to her.
"Human warriors, fall back. The battle is over", Shui Liying announced. She was still furious towards the devil warriors but she was not a impulsive person.
