Chapter 48: 048 Lu Han: Don’t jump to conclusions, nothing is settled yet (1 update)_1
The call was from Lu Han’s mother, Bai Wei, the wife of the patriarch of the Beijing’s Lu Family.
Bai Wei made this call because she couldn’t stand her husband’s nagging anymore. She called Lu Han to confirm again if he would be back in ti for lunch at the Lu Family’s house tomorrow?
If not, her husband, his dad, wouldn’t mind arranging a private jet to pick him up right now.
Lu Han was speechless, “I booked my ticket, didn’t I send you the photo?”
“Yes, I showed it to your dad, but, you see, his vision isn’t what it used to be, so we have to forgive him haha. That settled, see you tomorrow. It’s getting late; get so sleep. Goodnight, son.”
“Goodnight.”
After hanging up with his mother, Lu Han imdiately received a call from Bai Dingxian.
These two related by blood really shared the sa surna.
One just left, and the other quickly followed up.
Lu Han activated speakerphone, sat down, and continued to dry his hair.
“Hello, what is it? My aunt just finished bugging , and now you start the sequel, right?” Lu Han was in a good mood tonight.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered with this small talk with Bai Dingxian.
“Really? Does my aunt have clairvoyance or super hearing or sothing? How did she know you were chasing that young lady?” Bai Dingxian was frustrated. He had no idea what Lu Han had been up to these past few hours; none of his nurous calls had been answered.
Today, he brought a young lady to Old Tan’s restaurant for lunch and didn’t invite him; that was just too much.
Considering that he traveled all the way from Beijing to this small town to accompany him, and Lu Han had fallen for a girl — such big news — yet he hadn’t been the first to know?
Instead, Old Tan and Lin Jiaojiao were the first to find out?
You have to understand, aside from them being good brothers, they were also relatives.
Cousins are still related.
Had he forgotten that their relationship was closer than with Old Tan’s family?
“Where did you hear about it from?” Lu Han didn’t deny it, then sighed inwardly at just how big Old Tan’s mouth was.
“You really like the girl you took to Old Tan’s today? Isn’t the age difference between you two a bit too much?” Bai Dingxian was dumbfounded.
They both worked at the sa hospital; he was always busy in the ergency departnt, surrounded by doctors and nurses in white coats.
The sa was true for people around Lu Han.
So, where on earth did he et such a vibrant and adorable girl whose eyes seed to talk?
“Are we that far apart in age?” Lu Han retorted. Tang Su was just a few years younger than him, right?
A gap of five years or so was just perfect, wasn’t it?
How could that be considered large?
“Looking at the photos, you two are at least a decade apart. In the past, a twenty-year-old girl would have to call a thirty-year-old man ‘uncle.'” Bai Dingxian said seriously.
The girl in the photo had skin so delicate it looked like it might burst with a puff; fair and smooth, she seed barely of age, maybe just over twenty at most.
And Lu Han?
He was already twenty-eight by the calendar, a solid thirty in terms of nominal age; wasn’t that like an old cow eating tender grass?
Old Tan was also an older man with a younger woman, and his uncle, Lu Han’s dad, even more so. Lu Han was indeed his uncle’s son; when it ca to preferring younger won, father and son were truly cut from the sa cloth.
“She’s been of age for a while now. You don’t need to worry about
and her. I’m going back to Beijing tomorrow. Do you want
to book an extra ticket for you to co back with ?”
“Ah? Why didn’t you say so earlier? If you had told
a few hours ago, I wouldn’t have ended up falling on my butt. I’m advised against traveling far; I need to rest.”
“…Deserved.”
“So how many days will you stay before you co back?” Bai Dingxian pressed on.
“I have a three-day leave,” Lu Han replied, feeling that three days was too long.
He was hoping to make a round trip within a single day.
“Then, when you co back, you have to bring
two ducks. It’s been so long since I’ve had them.”
“Got it,” Lu Han agreed easily, nodding his head.
“Also, after you co back, you gotta introduce
to my future sister-in-law,” Bai Dingxian was dying of curiosity about that girl whose na he still didn’t know.
Just from the photos Old Tan sent, the girl looked much more pleasing than Jiang Shanshan.
“Don’t call her that, nothing is set in stone yet,” Lu Han chided in a low voice.
Although he was determined to win over Tang Su, and he was quite confident with her, the fact that Su Ruoan had arranged a blind date for him with another girl today made him realize that his senior apprentice sister hadn’t taken a liking to him.
If his senior apprentice sister had been willing to let Tang Su beco his girlfriend, she wouldn’t have forced Tang Su to accompany her and arrange a blind date for him.
Lu Han believed he was fairly outstanding in many respects, even better than that Ye Sichen, so where did things go wrong?
Why hadn’t his senior apprentice sister taken a fancy to him?
Was it because he was a doctor?
That shouldn’t be the reason. Tang Su’s father was also an anesthesiologist, wasn’t he?
Even over the phone, Bai Dingxian could hear the disappointnt in Lu Han’s voice. He raised an eyebrow, “What? That girl isn’t taking you seriously? But if she wasn’t at all interested in you, she wouldn’t have had dinner with you.”
“Lu Han, when did you beco so unconfident? Just a girl has got you all disconcerted like this?”
Bai Dingxian smirked, looking forward to watching the drama unfold.
Though he was saying this, he secretly hoped the girl wouldn’t take Lu Han too seriously for the ti being.
Lu Han had it too easy his entire life, with good grades, handso looks, and a quick learner. Back in school, he’d get so many love letters that Bai would get a hand cramp from collecting them, and Lu would just dismiss them with a sniff.
If he really hit a snag this ti, it’d be a case of tables turning.
Why should it always be the girls chasing after Lu Han? He would say, since the heavens allowed Lu Han to be born, there should also be a girl born capable of restraining Lu Han’s arrogance.
Otherwise, Lu Han would really be too complacent.
That would be too unfair.
“I have to wake up early tomorrow, do you have any more nonsense to say? If not, I’m hanging up. If I miss my flight tomorrow because of you, I’ll tell your aunt that you kept
up chatting on the phone.”
“…”
Bai Dingxian was speechless, knowing full well that his aunt was his Achilles’ heel. In the Bai family, from top to bottom, no one dared to offend the aunt. If she really blad him and forbade him from seeing her son, then his sin would be grave indeed.
“Alright, alright, I can’t provoke you, ancestor. I’m hanging up, I’ll hang up first,” Bai Dingxian said and hung up as he said he would.
But even though he hung up the phone, he didn’t sit idle. He contacted Old Tan to find out the na of the girl in the photo and wanted Old Tan to spill everything he knew.
The trouble was, his ssage might as well have sunk into the ocean without a trace.
Just as Bai Dingxian was about to call, he suddenly realized that at this ti of night, Old Tan was probably with his wife…
Forget it, he really wasn’t interested in hearing those kinds of offensive sounds.
He might as well not make the call. If he wanted to know, he could just go eat at Old Tan’s small tavern so other day, right?
What’s the rush?
As long as that girl was from Hua City, he was sure he could find a way to dig her out.
