Since people were waiting to order, Ji Anning, feeling rather bewildered, collected the so-called gift and was led by the waiter to a seat in the corner overlooking the main street.

"What’s all this about?"

Once seated, Ji Anning pointed at the pile of couples’ sundae cups and asked Ji Chicheng curiously.

Ji Chicheng, who never liked to keep her in suspense, didn’t play coy and said, "When I entered, the waiter stopped to draw one to test our compatibility."

Listening to that, Ji Anning looked down at the pink heart-shaped ball she was clutching in her palm.

Pouting, she had been leading the way earlier and hadn’t noticed when the waiter had approached him from behind to play this little ga.

After muttering to herself for a while, she raised her head to look at Ji Chicheng and casually asked, "Then why did you choose this one?"

Why choose the first one.

Ji Chicheng’s deep black eyes watched her unwaveringly, and slowly, a slight smile erged as if reminiscing.

His gaze was so calm yet it felt scorching to Ji Anning.

Her expression, uncontrollably drawn to him, stared at him as if she had fallen into the deep vortex of his eyes.

"Little friend, this is a gift for you."

Suddenly, the waiter ca over and handed Fenfen a very mini pudding with a cute cartoon pattern drawn on its surface.

Fenfen was delighted and imdiately began eating it with a small spoon.

Ji Anning snapped back to reality, hurriedly shifting her gaze away from Ji Chicheng’s face, thanked the waiter, and turned her attention to Fenfen, changing the subject, "I’m really envious that Fenfen can eat so many varieties."

After coming in, the waiter had inford them that the children’s nu had unlimited options.

If she wanted to eat a lot, she could only share with Fenfen.

Upon leaving, neither of them had told each other why they had chosen that particular ice cream.

But the initial intention in both their hearts was the sa, because the one accompanying them was their only one.

She had never felt a day to be so short before; without having ti to properly enjoy a al or to properly look at each other, it passed.

The car slowly stopped, and Ji Anning, gazing at the luxurious, dreamlike manor in the distance, felt her lancholy deepen.

Finally, the car stopped steadily at the entrance of the courtyard, Ji Anning pushed open the car door, her foot touching the ground first, then turned around, reluctantly glancing at the sleeping Fenfen.

With tears shimring in her eyes but not wanting the atmosphere to beco too somber, she raised her head, gathered her spirits, smiled at Ji Chicheng, and waved her hand, "Goodbye."

Without any hesitation or delay, she turned and got out of the car.

"Anning."

Suddenly, Ji Chicheng reached out, grasped Ji Anning’s wrist, and held onto her tightly.

Suppressing her trembling breath, Ji Anning turned and continued to smile at Ji Chicheng, "Uncle..."

Uttering this term again was as painful as carving out her heart; she paused, took a breath, and then said, "From now on, I’ll be Fenfen’s sister."

After saying that, she forcefully broke away from Ji Chicheng’s hand, got out of the car, decisively closed the door, and walked into the grand courtyard without looking back.

Watching her walk away, Ji Chicheng’s black eyes gradually, gradually beca clouded with a layer of moisture.

If they were destined not to be together, then why did he have to love her so deeply?
